Insulation is important... I live in a building that has that hot water piping system, however ours are below the ground as I am in Central Europe (We have everything below ground including electricity). The building is insulated from the outside and we have similar windows as shown with 3 glass layers and keeps the heat and cold if needed. We are having Temps around -3 to -8c at night these days and 0 to -3c by day and I haven't even turned on the heating at all. I have a stable +20c in the apartment which is very comfortable... Less energy, less costs and good to the environment...

I've seen other films from villages in Yakutsk. They get big ice chunks from the river and store under ground and take in a little at the time to melt for drinking and cooking and so on. Imagine to go out and sit on the out house when it's minus 70.

I can't afford to have 25 gegrees inside my home. I have between 18-20 and I pay about 300-400 dollar per month for the electricity in the winter. I live in a small house outside a village heree in Sweden. Summertime I pay about 60-90 dollar per month.

Gulp! I'm no builder etc, but a hairline fracture letting outside air under the windowsill, with those thick walls? IMO I think the foundations have sunk a little lower due to the permafrost melting? Great vid lady!

25C? That sounds way too much. Although in such a cold environment it might be different, I don't know, but anything over 22 I have trouble sleeping. Also, in the coldest months of the season I pay 100-120$ easily, and it's obviously nowhere near this cold.

It's a little different when your outside temp is super cold. Right now it's -25F where I am and we turn our furnaces up that high, and it keeps it just comfortable, unless you have a well insulated home with windows that don't leak.

Just as an FYI, this is in Russia, there is no landlord, and they live here cause the Government under Staline forced Russian & Asian ethnic population to move to Siberia to ensure human presence so that nobody else could claim the territory for themselves.
