Well, you just spelled out western eurocentrism in a nutshell. The byzantines were for the majority of the middle ages the most prosperous place in europe while the west was a backwater. The way you place the west on a pedestal has nothing to do with the reality of the time.

Well, it's true that Eastern Rome isn't as important to the history of Western Europe, aside from Italy. But Eastern Rome is arguably just as important as the West when it comes to the history of the Balkans and Russia. So it's more of the case that you're looking too narrowly on Western Europe as the center of "progress" when Eastern Europe is no less important. It's fine to find certain areas of history boring though. I for example find Indian history kind of boring, don't really have a good reason, just can't get into it. Nothing to be ashamed about despite what some people in the comment will say.

The east had much better trade routes. They had access to the silk road and the spice trade. They also owned the bosphorus so had a chokehold over the black sea.

I don't get why you dislike Byzantine history. You get many smart and skilled military men that saved the empire from collapse like Heraclius, Alexios l or Basil ll. Plus, Byzantine politics and strategy are really interesting.

Flavius aetius captivity is an old turkic tradition, just like Vlad the dracula , they both captive for peace treaty but Turks give them education of War, diplomacy and army logistic lessons, weird tradition though

The byzantines are surviving because the east is rich, like, really rich and the west is poor. Really poor.

No the eastern roman empire got its riches from the east. The east was more civilized then the west due to prior empires. Like the syrians, selucid anotolian and egyptian empires. As a result the east has tons of cities and rich land and a history of trade . While the west wasn't united at all say with ceasar coming in conquering gaul much later . So it would take time for the west to become rich The east Essentially bankrolled the empire. Since many western provinces were a net drain. Especially brittain which sucked the empire dry with its non stop rebellions while providing absolutely nothing in return

You can't generalize like that, it is equaly false to say the "West was poor".

There's also a possibility that one of the main reasons Attila attacked the West was not the anachronistic reason given about Honoria, but that through gifts and diplomacy he was incited to attack by Gaiseric.

Never underestimate Gaiseric! One of the most overlooked figures of late antiquity, a man ruthless and cunning who seemed to know exactly what to do and when to capitalize on any situation.

The East had much better trade routes, a breadbasket, and a higher population so yes they were already making more money than the West.

Why did the Germans and Saxons move West? The get away from the Huns! Aurelianum = Orleans, where Joan of Arc would fight 1000 years later. America has to fear the "maple syrup & beer" hordes to our North, and the "breakfast taco" hordes to our South ... aieee ;-) What is interesting? 75-99% of my ancestors were Western barbarians at this time, though some may be partially Romanized. So I find the West more interesting too. If I was the Visigoth king, nobody would leave alive! Justinian was a good manager, not a good leader. There are very few leaders and many managers.
