Having a diverse perspective is crucial to what I want to achieve here so please don't hold back! I want to learn about all I can! Keep recommending and PLEAESE join my Discord :) ( / discord )

I watched a Royal Marines unarmed combat demo in Plymouth years ago and while the 4 guys were holding back a wee bit and possibly wearing softer issue boots than normaly worn you could still hear the force of the impacts and see the initial pain caused by the contact and the falls. These marines are tough.

The vast majority of the techniques shown were developed in the opium dens in Shanghai during the years preceding WW2 by the British officer Captain W . E. Fairbairn of the Shanghai Municipal Police who was the first outsider to be awarded the Black Belt in Jiu Jitsu by the Kodakan in Tokyo . The book he compiled " All in Fighting " became the manual for the British Army particularly the elite units . The manual was also later published in the USA as " Get Tough " and formednthe basis of all manuals to follow .

@@paul8161 Of course , no comment is complete without a mention of his partner and once great friend from Shanghai, E. A. Sykes, the Colt and Remington dealer and Soecial in that city . He reportedly left Shanghai during the Japanese invasion with a vessel stuffed full of arms . Joined the SOE here in the UK , penned the CQB manual " Shooting to Live " and went on to form the joint US/UK " Jedburgh ":teams that carried out sterling work behind enemy lines .

It's the Museum of Liverpool in the background, the Maritime Museum is a few hundred yards away (kind of to our left as the camera faces). And technically, the water is the Leeds and Liverpool Canal rather than the river, but your knowledge of the area is still very impressive, Connor, considering you live thousands of miles away.

It's sunny, you're in Liverpool for the day.so...what do you do. You take the family to see 4 marines demonstrate various different ways of damaging their crown jewels (and other important places) for the entertainment of assembled Scousers and visitors. Perfect day out! Seriously though amazing skills.

Americans think that RMs are equivalent to USMC. They're not. They are the equivalent of US Army Rangers, or SEAL Teams 1-5, and do exchange programmes with both.

Most of these are judo moves - the one where he had him on his foot and took him over the top is called Tomoe nage ( stomach throw ) but is a miss translation as you hook your foot under the groin and lift as dropping back - they don't hurt when thrown as if you look closely you will see them use their arm to distribute the force of the throw into the mat. You will always learn to do this first before learning any throws.

You could try a fight with an SAS guy but they are Royal Marine Commandos OR 40 TYPE Paras on frigging steroids, so I've been told. Nobody wants a rumble with an SAS guy. Or maybe you could take out a lot of personal health insurance first.
