One of the proudest things of being an Aussie is the fact that we have the largest groups of volunteers in the world. When you see our bushfire or floods, it's not professionals, it's your mate whose a plumber, the local farmer, the butcher round the corner, an woman (or the old guy down the road) who goes out in a kayak or dinghy to get your animals that you had to leave behind. The Flying Doctor Service who travel to the outback to fly a patient to a hospital, thousands of miles away (Australia is 9,000 miles from say Perth to Sydney) it's HUGE. We see our rural fire service head into the heat and hell of our fires. The SES (state emergency service) go to car accidents, looking after anyone who needs help, anywhere they are needed, voluntarily, and they might be nurses, shop assistants or just mums and dads who want to help. Our service men and women are some of the bravest and honourable in the world. These aren't just white Australians but, they could be Muslims, Hindis, Buddhists, Aboriginals and they all get 'stuck in'. God bless my country and the people In it of every race and creed.

My ex husband and I had gone to dinner with friends at Simon's Seafood Restaurant ( was popular seafood restaurant in Perth in the 80s). About half way through the night an American guy started causing a scene, screaming "This isn't good enough, Where is that waitress?" because his glass of wine was empty, and he wanted to know why she "was being so lazy about doing her job". Three separate blokes from 3 different tables all stood up at the exact same time, didn't approach him, but turned towards him - one said "m8, im here with my wife celebrating our wedding anniversary, and am not interested in hearing about how lazy you are to pick up your own damn bottle of wine. This young lady (waitress) is run off her feet, and has been doing a great job. You owe her an apology. If this is how you act in a restaurant, please leave and go to Jimmy Dean's down the road". The guy was gobsmacked, and you could've heard a pin drop in the place. The American didn't say another word, but quickly finished whatever he was eating and, quickly but quietly left - all 3 blokes that had stood up, kept their eye's on him until he left, and everyone knew it lmao. I often wonder if he was a tourist or lived here, and if he learnt anything about manners that night

Yes friendly, yes funny, yes gentle ribbing (especially if they touch you at the same time, it means "only joking mate"), respect Australian cultural traditions, don't bring your prejudices here, it's so interesting to meet people from other cultures & share, a well chosen gift or handmade gifts are just as great, time cannot be replaced, yes we're tough we never quit (no negative energy), there's never enough sport, say hi and ask us anything, mates and team players, (generosity is it's own reward), mostly casual, YES! 👍

One day, I didn't realise I had a flat tyre till I got to woodgrove shopping centre and a stranger with his family pointed it out to me after I got out of the car. Just as I was about to call RACV, the kind gentleman offered to change my tyre. I can't begin to express how grateful I was and still am. I couldn't thank the family enough🇦🇺🦘🇦🇺🦘. This is another of many ways Aussies look out for one another.

Thanks for this mate, as Kait said in the video - we do not hero worship we just love seeing Australia represented. Dead on. We have a culture and lifestyle that truly, honestly and demonstrably works. And we would love people to be as happy as an Ozzy can be at their best. It's like the Buddhist's in the mountains of Tibet, they have spent hundreds of years finding peace. And they wish to share it with the world. Ozzies had the honer and the privilege of learning from one of if not the oldest living indigenous people on the planet. And we have evolved into what we are today. Anyone who is on board with that and respects this land and its people, you will be a mate for life to any of us.

G'day mate. Aussies do something in professional sport I haven't seen elsewhere, at the half time break in AFL they stick small goal post in the ground and make 3 small footy fields for kids under 10 years to play a short game. This is at every game and a child will be selected from each round of the season to hand out the premiership medals to the winning players. At the cricket, at the start of the game, the kids circle the field and each player goes to a child and signs their cap, they try to make small talk but often get 🍩 in return which can be quite entertaining for us at home

About half the men the times I was there, wanted to prove Aussies were better than us "Yanks" especially comparing Rugby (they call football) is tougher than our (USA) Football. A few videos of American Football changed their minds. Still got along with them. These folks have more nick names for everyday stuff, than anywhere I have ever been in my life. I could care less about our or anyone else politicians. But I have been to 79 countries.

If an Aussie OR Kiwi is ' taking the piss ' out of you , they like you and are gauging your reaction and if you fire back with something witty then be assured you will be accepted. As an Australian, people not from here need to realise that nothing pisses us off more than when foreigners come here to visit or live and do nothing but whinge and complain about our country the whole time they are here or how we do things. So usually when we hear or interact with people who do this they are usually told to buy a one way ticket back to where they moved from if life here is so bad and not like their home country and it's not always in a nice way either. We are proud people and we are proud of our country and feel lucky to be able to call it home so to hear people from overseas complain about our beautiful country really gets to us and it definitely hits nerves in all the wrong ways and that's the honest truth my friend 🤷‍♀️

Walking into a Servo barefoot is pretty low on the fashion faux pas scale. Totally acceptable. Wearing your pyjamas to the local supermarket in the morning to grab some milk and bread is getting really close to overstepping the mark. For some reason, the youngsters around here (especially in Winter) think nothing of it. PJ’s and fluffy slippers.

🙂. Kaitlyn is pretty accurate. Of course Aus isn't perfect. Re diversity/multicultural, 30% of Australians were born overseas per census data. If you're interested in learning a bit more about our history. A few suggestions: Woollarawarre Bennelong - an important figure in Indigenous and Australian history. The first Aus 'diplomat' so to speak. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5WQZ3mdbJKMfaM Bennelong Point where the Sydney Opera House sits, is named after him as is a park, restaurant etc. And Baranagaroo reserve in Sydney is named after his wife). Bombing of Darwin by the Japanese in WW2 - 80th anniversary This also involved the loss of US servicemen. And what really llead to a stronger alliance between Australia and the United States, which remains today. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5m6Zn6FarCVfa8 An older vid.about a special connection between Hawaii and Australia, through surfing and Duke Kahanmoku. The story is from around 1998. So a little extra, newer info - In 2014 Freshwater beach in Sydney had Dukes Day, where they re-enacted his historic ride for the 100th anniversary. And last year it was announced that Duke Kahamamoku, is one of 21 influential people from the world of sport, science, politics, religion, arts etc that NSW Heritage is recognising with distinctive blue plaques. They will appear on buildings associated with the high achievers. I've seen the Dukes statue and original board at the lovely Freshwater beach. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3Wco6emhdqjprs

If you imagine being like this, with regard to the make up, the casual laid back attitude, the lack of real motivation for material things, etc, and then imagine watching mostly TV and movies from the US, you'll see where sometimes I get a really big headache and need to watch the ABC or BBC. Just for some real people who aren't wallpapered with special appellations like "plus size" and "interesting features". Like.. I just want to see an old woman playing an old woman on TV, not Michelle Pfeiffer. It's strange and it's going to make little children cry if you keep messing with their Nannas.

I don’t agree with her in respect to Australians not being “materialistic”. Unfortunately in todays day and age it’s all about money and job status when it comes to dating in Australia. It could also be due to the massive amounts of single parents running around Australia now but Australia has definitely turned materialistic.
