Cesium is used for various purposes, including In atomic clocks and wristwatches (cesium-beam frequency standard) to measure standard time. As a catalyst in the hydrogenation of organic compounds. In photoelectric cells. In the production of electricity and electronics. In the manufacturing of infrared lamps. What is not widely known, is that, like Quartz, Cesium has it's own exact frequency that is generated by it. It's so unchanging that it is used to regulate many types of clocks and the "World Time". The USA has the "World Clock" at Fort Collins, Colorado. It will be a shame to see the price of watches hit the roof in America under tariffs. I guess the USA won't be making watches. Tyler you are correct. The average Canadian knows much more about Americans than they know, or care to know, about us. We do not assume we are the most important country in the world and give credit where credit is due. And we are humble, not narcissistic.
@BigBlueTurtle-cu9sv2 күн бұрын
As you claim to know more about America than Americans know about Canada. It seems odd to me, as another Canadian, that we pride ourselves on being more humble than Americans.
@WqpW-WqpW11 сағат бұрын
@BigBlueTurtle-cu9svbut it just facts tho. More folks in other countries know’s more about America than the opposite.
@BigBlueTurtle-cu9sv5 сағат бұрын
@@WqpW-WqpW Sounds like a generalization to me. What about the people in America who study geography in collage or for a job? What about the people who study international relations? They know about other countries. Just like not everyone in Canada plays hockey and likes maple syrup.

The word you were looking for at about 6:10 is "empathetic". I'm not surprised that an American can't bring himself to use any word that contains "pathetic", because your schools teach you not to. :o). But "empath" is a word we are glad to hear used about us - thanks!

Santa is Canadian because he lives at the North Pole and the North Pole is geographically in Canada. Also, if kids around the world want to write to him, they can address their letters to Santa, North Pole, Canada, H0H 0H0 and Canada Post has people on staff (might be volunteers) who can reply to the letters who can reply in the senders language.

# 73: During the Klondike Gold Rush of 1898, the vast majority of Dawson City's residents were American, although Dawson City was located in Canada, therefore they celebrated both Canada Day (then called Dominion Day) on July 1st and American Independence Day on July 4th. No point in going to work between those days so they just had one four day drunken party. .

It was the same thing in the mining towns that were on the border of southeastern BC and Washington State.

I'm all for having four day drunken parties, especially in early July, when the weather is at it's best.

Nickelback, which has sold more than 50 million albums, was somehow denied the common Canadian sentiment of only being liked or even known after making it big outside the country.

Mount Logan in Quebec, Canada is a challenging destination for advanced ski mountaineers: Mount Logan, Quebec The southern slopes of Mount Logan are considered intermediate, but can be challenging for advanced skiers. The mountain is large and quiet, and the snowpack is often shallow. The 35 km trail from Saint-Octave-de-l'Avenir to the summit takes two to three days to hike.

The 35% Canadian content on radio was born from the mistaken belief that little Canadian content would get played without the rule, but to many people's surprise, there's been so many popular Canadian songs that radio stations rarely get close to that 35% minimum.

In Canada, "sorry" has two distinct meanings, one is an acknowledgement of wrongdoing, an apology, but the other is an expression of empathy or compassion, "I am so sorry you are going through that", but we just say, "so sorry". That said, I have caught myself apologising to my Google when it says, "I don't understand", because I wasn't clear enough on my question to the inanimate object I own.
