Great reaction champ! Tough week to be a Rams fan 😢 Don't worry about getting things wrong. You're learning. Quite a number of these hits are illegal and resulted in some lengthy suspensions. It's a brutal sport, and you have to be tough to play at the elite level. But it's also extremely athletic and skillful, and played at a blistering pace. Keep up the great work and enjoy our game!

In Aussie Rules, you are not allowed to make contact with the head of an opponent; this will result in a free kick to the opponent's team, and a suspension of the player making illegal contact. Players are permitted to use a player(both own and opposition) to gain height for marking the ball; sometimes contact with the other player's shoulders is made, but they must be aware of the player's head.

@@OmniSportsInternational Cool man. 😎 If you have any questions just ask me using the comments reply. I have some sports for you to investigate. The Irish sports of Hurling and Gaelic Football and Calcio Storico (Historical Football) from Florence, Italy. 🇮🇪🇮🇹 Have you seen any of these? Hurling is like field hockey crossed with Lacrosse. 🏑 🥍 Gaelic Football is like Australian Football crossed with soccer. ⚽ Calico Storico is like Gaelic Football crossed with MMA. 🤔 I love investigating new sports too and I would like to help you with your experience. I am from Melbourne, Australia, the home of Australian Football. There is a game named International Rules Football. It is a hybrid of Gaelic Football and Australian Football. I liked it at first but I got tired of it but it is worth checking out. There used to be international matches in International Rules between Ireland and Australia, but it was stopped... I think it is still played at a junior level, between Ireland and Australia, I am not sure. My favourite sport is Australian Football. But my favourite sports league is the NFL. I really love American Football as well as Australian Football. Then I would have Rugby League, Gaelic Football, Soccer, Rugby Union, in that order. But that is just ranking football codes. But American Football and Australian Football are my favourite sports. Even above cricket and motor racing. I can still enjoy watching some soccer and Rugby though. Basketball is another sport I like, and I also like Netball. Do you know Netball, Bobby? It is not well known outside of the British Commonwealth. It's like Basketball, but it is 7 players a side and they are restricted to zones. Also they can't move with the ball at all. And there is no backboard, and the hoop is smaller than the basketball hoop, but so is the ball. Netball was actually invented in America and was originally called "women's basketball", but it became its own sport.

In NFL each defensive and offensive side plays about 15-16 mins of actual football each during a 3 1/2 hour game, where as in AFL each player can play a minimum of 80mins non stop, that is why they do not wear pads and helmets as it could not be done wearing all that gear

AFL grounds are much bigger than NFL fields maybe double. There are 18 players per side and only 4 substitutes. Players play for 4 x 20 minute quarters. Young Aussies from the age of 6 play this game with full contact. The NFL has defence and offence teams. AFL every player is defence and offence. Players stay safe by being very fit. Most players play for the full 80 minutes. Usually play continues if there is a hard knock. NFL seems to take so long because its stops so often. Players run 10 yards and they go off for a rest. Watch a grand final and catch up on the rules by watching.
@Toby-Wan_Kenobi8 ай бұрын
Should preface that tye high majority of these actions were illegal in the context of the game due to either fighting (like the 2 guys who dropped hooks on another players jaw) or for high contact (any occasion where contact is made to another player above the shoulders) and most of them result in the injured players team getting a free kick from that spot or a 50meter penalty (a free kick 50 meters closer to their goals than the spot where the incident took place)

Helmets unfortunately do not significantly reduce the incidence of concussion in contact sports. Cuts, and skull fractures, yes. Concussions, not really. The brain is free floating in fluid in the skull, it is the impact causing the brain to collide with the inside of the skull that causes concussions. Helmets aren't really able to prevent that. There are some helmet technologies being tested currently that claim to reduce concussions, but so far it is largely unverified.

I find it really disappointing that by far the most frequent reaction videos to Australian Football are the the 'big hits'. Whoever sent you this as an introduction to the game needs to be shirtfronted with a big hip and shoulder. It is a game based around extraordinary ALL-ROUND athleticism, the violence is only a part of that. Attain some understanding of THE GAME before you watch the hits. There are some decent explanatory videos around, check them out. Then watch the 'Top 50 marks of all time' and the 'Top 50 goals of all time'.

Watch the "NRLs 100 Biggest Hits Ever (GGOA) which is Australian Rugby League and you will see what big hits look like. Most of the hits in AFL are like being sucker punched you dont really know when its coming in NRL at least when you have the ball you know you are the target and what direction the hit is coming from... Rugby League (NRL) is not Rugby Union or Australian Football its a different football code again more like your NFL without the stoppages or the pads.
