It's true that the European team was 4 people, but they had to speak in English. I don't know that the US team could answer in Spanish, Swedish, German or French

As an English person and teacher in Spain, I can assure you that the Europeans here are using English just as much for each other as they are for the Americans. Even without any native English speakers in the room, this group of four would still be using English as the path of least resistance with each other.

@@Silverfirefly1doesn't change his point... They have to use a second language which is still difficult. I wouldn't be half as good in a quiz if i spoke in Spanish, as i know about 200 words. which is basically nothing the Spanish lady could hardly pronounce her words, so id say the quiz wasnt easy for her.

@TheSasudomi My students describe it as easy to learn and difficult to master, which seems fair. Advantages include fairly static verbs and a good range of cognates for latin-side speakers and germanic folk alike. The disadvantages are usually related to the non-phonetic nature of it and the heavy dependence on phrasal verbs. English is a hybrid organism that exists because what there is of it is what survived change (usually invasion). It is as it is because we use it, and we use it because it gives us those opportunities. It evolved. Anyone can plan a pretty, intricate language that no-one uses. They do that for movies sometimes. English is not my favourite language, Spanish is (although I'm only learning). What's your favorite language?

I mean to have people of different nationalities at one place on a special spot (studio) mean that, if this is filmed in the USA, those girls are probably students. And if it's in Europe, they most likely also are foreign students. Usually you get into Erasmus programs if you are fluent enough.

I hate it when people conflate ignorance and stupidity. A certain proportion of ANY nation is outright stupid, but 'Murica's problem is the large part of the nation that is just hopelessly ignorant about things foreign AND domestic. Ignorance can be educated away! It would be interesting to see an identical "street-quiz" put to random 'Murican and European people - hoping the creators of such a video will be honest and not cherry-pick responses to suit their agenda. The blond 'Murican girl perfectly described it near the end. She is SMART, if only because she recognizes what the limitations are likely to be - that is half the battle won already!

Overall while it's nice entertainment it's a bit hollow. It's mostly about who answers the fastest, or "pick the right answer from the two that are left after the other side got it wrong" It doesn't prove much about being smart or dumb, merely being able to invoque your knowledge faster. One thing however for you Charlie : you definitively proved you aren't dumb; not knowing every flag? It's normal. Questionning your answer and checking if you were wrong or right? This is being smart. Always question your knowledge and don't assume that you are right based on flimsy memories.

Our intelligence, both regular, social and other kinds, is our greatest evolutionary advantage. A few thousand years isn't going to change that very much. However, nothing can save a person that doesn't WANT to learn. Ignorance, willful or otherwise, is a trademark of a lot of people from USA, and people confuse that with being stupid. Some people, like yourself, do not want to be ignorant any more, and that's a wonderful thing. I think you did really well.

SUMMARY: very poor test design, bad for anyone claiming to test who is dumbest, and shockingly bad for anyone claiming to be comparing nations. The participants provided more insight than the testers. Speed is less important than knowing the correct answer. So, eg. they should both have 3 buttons, one for each choice, so it isn't first one to be wrong. Each person should see each questions in their native language. Those questions were testing ignorance not 'dumbest' (stupid). Ignorance is more related to an educational system, and culture. There was only one data point, even though they had 6 people. That was a very badly designed test. Best Wishes for a Happy, Healthy, Peaceful New Year. ☮

As usual there's a lot of confusion between intelligence, knowledge, talent and interest. Intelligence is the ability to grasp new information, process information and connect it with existing information. Knowledge is, how much information already is stored in your brain (simply phrased); talent is, which kind of knowledge you find easy to memorize or work with, and interest is, well obviously, what topics you expose yourselves at. For example: country flags. Intelligence would be, how many you can learn in a certain time; knowledge would be, how many you already knew and/or could easily recall after learning them. Your talent might or may not be, learning something by heart in general, or with shapes and colors etc. (on the contrary, learning flags gets a lot more complicated if you're for example color blind); and lastly interest will influence, whether you ever had the motivation to learn more flags than maybe required in school. For my own experience: I never had much interest in learning the 50 States of the USA, but one of your videos changed that, so I loaded the quiz website and practised until I got everyone right in multiple consecutive tries.

Well, even an IQ test is just about topics you might or might not know about or have to understand/ use irl or you have not been told about it correctly. f.e. ""What color is your shirt (or any other surface)?"" and you answered with a Color, you're always wrong. The question was wrong because you cannot see the color of a surface, if for all of your life, nobody cared to explain how physics works in combination with seeing the colors of surfaces, you would not know this most probably. Or did not care to look it up, or like me had a big brother who wanted to become an offset printer and told me when I was 8yo(which got me into trouble with many teachers because I pulled the prank on them not knowing this and much more LOL) And the non-colors Black, white, and all greys in between?? ARGHHH LOL The question ""what color is that surface?"" in itself is unfair LOL But I can hear loads of ppl say ""Don't be difficult sigh"". But facts matter but hey my bad for knowing that, and (nagging) explaining how things can be not what it seems and most teachers aren't even aware of these issues, which they should have been!!. LOL Don't get me started about the number Zero, please don't LOL!!! Just google it, or go to YT for Standupmaths, Veritas the RI channel, and/or m.m.m explanations about that, which your teachers might not know about but they should have known LOL Intelligence is very subjective, grading intelligence is not a good way to measure intelligence. It just hands out useless pieces of paper that say nothing more than the wanted questions were answered correctly(?????????), it is more about memorizing the wanted information than how intelligent the person in question is. But hey what do I know LOL

I don't know what you're smoking, but you can definitely see the color of a surface. The property can change because of band surface and black body radiation, but if i point at your shirt right now and ask 'what color is it', there is definitely a correct answer at that moment, because the reflected wavelengths of light you see at that moment, are the color of the surface at that moment, when you asked the question. Saying a surface can't have a color because it can change based on the flatness or band surface, is like saying a paper can never be flat, because it's sometimes also round, it's just weird semantics that are incorrect. Also, no IQ test ever will ask a question like this.
