Great reaction as always.. Just a little comment.. English is kind of the universal language in the world.. you are right other countries have english as their native language too... Not only the USA.. But we learn english in Denmark to be able to communicate with people around the world... Not only for when we visit another english speaking country.. If i visit for example Italy, Spain or South Korea... I use english and people (most people) speak english to me... that is why we learn english.. Not to visit the USA.. haha.. Great channel...

There's been a number of times when I was in uni I ended up getting yelled at for lying. They ask where I'm from. Say I grew up in Suffolk in South England. Then the "No where are you really from". I then say Mongolia. "Oh cool what sate in Mexico?" Me... no... Mongolia... I'm Mongolian.... They get convinced I'm lying and just Mexican but trying to trick them because they're American and think they're stupid.... Then either me or one of my mates would show them Mongolia on the world map.... Never had anyone believe it still at best assume its just more of China.... a number of times they just didn't believe me and we just left it... but a good number of times they full on started shouting at me for lying to them. Think one of the best ones though is one of my mates who is American (but knows about the world) tried going out with a fellow American girl... We were out and went by one of the few taco bells in the UK... After we get our food she asked me "I hope this reminds you of home." No malic honestly was meaning in a ahh I hope he enjoys this kind of way... At this point I had gotten tired with correcting Americans that I'm not Mexican and just said "Yeah"... He stopped seeing her a week after.... Only people who can't tell at least I'm some sort of Asian... Even the racists know whats up... Like one thing I'll give to the racists round here.... They're educated... Had one guy yelling at me and didn't call me Chinese or Asian... He called a "Slant eyed, Goat eating hobo!"... Which isn't wrong tbh.... I even asked him how he knows I wasn't Chinese and he said "I've seen too many of those bat eating pricks. And your nose is too flat to be one!" Then carries on about me leaving the country etc

I don't know what to make of that. Someone well meaning who has absolutely no knowledge or ability to learn or an informed and worldly knowledgeable racist. At least the racist knew who you were and what your culture is. When people of that political persuasion are more culturally literate than the supposed open minded progressives it certainly makes one think...

not going to lie i always get annoyed when people say the americans came to rescue during ww2. yeah the help was great but dont act like america didnt get involved because the war was acutally starting to threaten them as a country. they were quite happy to sit back and not do anything until the war threatened their own doorstep. plenty of other countries stepped in long before that.

Not just in fighting. We civilians in Great Britain had to endure years of bombing, years of worrying about loved ones serving in the forces, years of harsh but necessary rationing, years even after the war of making do because many factories were turned to making weapons and other items for the Armed Forces. And this went on to a lesser degree into the 1950s .No wonder American troops over here could flash the cash and luxury items.

I am a bit late to the party here. This video came up on my recommendations today. I am in the UK and don't understand the problem with someone saying they are from Indiana. The USA states are large enough to be countries. We still have the plaque on the building in London. Commemorating that it was the Embassy, when Texas was an independent Country. Also when people go out of state. It's the natural thing to say what state they are from.

It just seems pretty weird, you know? Plenty of countries have large provinces or states, and assuming everyone knows where you're from if you say that instead of the country just seems weird. I would guess the USA from the audacity though, so I suppose it works fine, but it does not leave a good impression.

I think her point was that it's naive and a bit arrogant to expect other people from other countries to know what specific state you're talking about when you tell them. Majority of people will know the country "USA" but you think they'll know what "Kansas" or "South Carolina" is if you just say that first? No. If you live in the USA, then it makes sense to specify the state because people will actually know what you're talking about. But to other countries, they won't know what you're talking about and yet it comes off as you expecting them to know.

1:17 you're assuming that he actually said that....or that "he" exists. Likely she was desperate to gain "likes" on a social media platform and being self-deprecating is a sure fire way to get likes and declare to the world that you are one of the "good ones". I'll give you a hint. Everything you see, hear and read on the internet is not necessarily true. Shocking, I know, but its true. For the most part.... people appear to go through amazing mental gymnastics to believe whatever it is that they wish to believe and they accept things which support those beliefs without a moment of skeptical thinking and the things that do not support what they wish to believe, they ignore. And these same people love to point out how stupid other people are. Ironic.

2:08 The girl in this timestamp thinks she had this huge realization that "American's did not invent the english language" Umm... nobody "invented" the english language. The people of England did not "invent" the english language. The english language.....as with other languages..... is a living thing that changes and was developed over a very long period of time. I'd suggest she read the original Chaucer for instance. Also.... the majority of the people who moved to North America were from England and they were British subjects and it was their language just as much as those who remained in England. It was some time later.... after the English colonialization of North America....after the English slave economy was developed in the English colonies in North America, that British subjects threw off the yoke of the dictatorial monarchy and formed its own federation. Those people were born British, english was their native mother tongue and those living in England did not "own" the language more than their brothers and sisters and cousins who migrated to North America. England does not "own the english language" more than the US or Canada, or Australia or New Zealand, simply because we formed our own governments. NOTE: the "english language" is also french, spanish and arabic.... just as much as its germanic roots.

@@andreanecchi5930 again, the south is different from the north and different from the east and west so just saying that we’re from the US doesn’t give specifics on our different cultures. Alaska is not the same as Hawaii. Even in Cali, SoCal is different than NorCal or the eastern part. It’s the same as in Mexico. There’s Baja Mexico which is different than Mexico City which is different than Juarez or Cancun or Jalisco. That’s why when I ask someone what country they are from, I ask the specific region of the country. Cities are different than countryside. Even in a small country like England, they still have parts like Wales, so people will say that they’re Welsh. Same with Ireland, France and Italy.
@Abiodun92
@Abiodun92 Жыл бұрын
@@savsmiles3042 You seriously compared Wales, Ireland, France and Italy to US states? It's not a very good comparison for multiple reasons, I can understand Hawaii being significantly different from other states due to them being an independent country before becoming one of the states, but all the rest of the states are way more culturally similar to eachother than individual European countries. Most European countries are nations with distinct cultural identities, history, ethnic groups, languages, landscapes, cultural heritages and religious affiliations. Summa summarum: Individual US states shouldn't be equated to actual countries in Europe. You have a lot more in common with the Florida Man than I, a Finnish man have with a Spaniard.

I love how good you ppl are at proving that you still think the world revolve around you... If you are in the US, sure, say which state you are from. Expecting the other 194 countries to know your states is arrogant as hell. Wyoming is like 600.000 people. On any scale that would be a small ass country. Edit: for comparison, the French region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes has more than 8.000.000 people, but not even a Frenchman would say anything but "france".

@SavSmiles noone outside the US cares about your internal differences, which brings us back to thinking what the world revolves around. If people want spesifics, they will ask. Or, you know, Georgia in USA is fine. Just saying Georgia is arrogant, and in that spesific case also indicates a lack of awareness of the nation of Georgia.
