The Joggins Fossil Cliffs, down east, is the same, only 300 million years old. The oldest fossil ever found was at Joggins in 2002. It was lizard-like and crawled from the sea. Joggins is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. I've always wanted to visit Drumheller, but still hopeful. Since I was a teen, I've had a slice of a geode from Drumheller. And I did drive though the badlands and it is so beautiful (it was a fast trip). You're always welcome to visit NS and have some fresh lobster (and of course a donair, hahaha IYKYK).

I live in a log cabin in the forest in the wilderness. It is cold here six months a year. I have to chop my own firewood and carry my water. I raise my own food or hunt and fish for it. The people are not always polite, but I love it here anyway because we are still free to live how we want. Cheers

My experience in tourism I find that most people from Countries other than Americans are golden. Most are here to learn respect enjoy and appreciate how we have preserved the greatest lands in the world. They save for years just to come here and spare no expense. Europeans and Asians are our most appreciated people. Most Americans, not all, complain about costs, brag and discriminate because it's not done like in the states.Basically Americans are hard work to please in the hospitality industry. Most (not all)are stingy and low tippers. Most are only interested on how our great country can be exploited and what they would do to change it.

If I told you the number of new or older Canadians that I have met in my 60 years, living here and what they said to me (guess I have a friendly face), you would be surprised. When people are telling you something secretly and think that you must be on the same page as them, boy, you would not believe the comments I’ve gotten and I’m talking from everywhere in the world a few negative nasty comments that I’ll never forget. I find that if people visit the USA from other countries, Americans expect them to speak English. When Americans visit other countries, they still expect them to speak English. I wonder how many Americans know that, unlike Canada, the USA doesn't even have an official language.

I watch a lot of "films" (meaning not produced in Hollywood, typically global content) and it gives an exceptionally different viewpoint to how Canada is seen by the world. For example, when a family wants to show that they are cultured or have money, they'll reference having a child going to school in Canada or having a holiday home here. Often the idea of "oh we spent our summer holidaying in Canada" is used in the same way americans say they "holidayed in France". I work with an international media company and there's always been hints dropped about everyone coming to Canada to do New Years together because they think we're Switzerland with a twist. Something cool and new. The one American on the team doesn't get the appeal, but she's never been here. It's as though we're some mythical land.

@@Deseis In addition to the dozens and dozens of Canadian entertainers in comedy, music and acting that work in the US, many (too many to list here) of your favorite T.V. shows and movies are filmed in Canada. Vancouver (Hollywood North) is the third busiest T.V./movie production location in North America. The rest of the province of BC is also extremely popular for filming locations as it can easily double for almost anywhere in the western US. Toronto and Ontario specifically, and pretty much everywhere in Canada is very active in the industry as well.

In the late 1980’s when I was a kid my family and I were moving from Alberta to the United States and while traveling through the states to get to our new destination which was California (I’m pretty sure it was Arizona where this happened) a cop pulled my dad over and the only reason was because he saw our Alberta plates and wanted to ask if we really lived in igloos. I remember laughing so hard but the officer was legitimately serious when he asked this question! That just set the tone for what our life would be like being Canadians in the USA! I literally had the experience, as a teenager (40 years ago now) pumping gas as a summer job, seeing an American family with skis on the roof of their car, pulling in, and the very agitated father yelling at me, "Where is all the f*cking snow??!!" It was the middle of July. Sunny and about 80F. The USA was no more than a few miles away, across the river.

Oh my freaking gosh. I read this about 30 minutes ago when it went through my email and I no joke laughed for a good 15 minutes to the point of crying. And I still keep randomly laughing every time I think of it. Just picturing that entire scenario with the skis on the roof of the car in July yet you could see the freaking states looking across the lake is hilarious!!! Then how mad he was because his expectations were completely shattered. Come on now!! My wife grew up in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. In the middle of the summer, Americans would cross the border with Ski-do's in tow, expecting snow and ice as soon as they crossed the border. On the other hand, the tourist bureau on the Canadian side used to feature a display of a preserved fur bearing fish. It was supposedly an adaptation to the cold.

The flag shown with "french is only spoken in Québec" is the Acadian flag. Just to show that this is simply not true. Acadians for the most part are french-speaking and a lot of them live in the provinces New-Brunswick and Nova Scotia (and in Louisiana too for that matter). So french isn't only spoken in QC, there are french communities in each province, and not nessarily from acadian ancestry.

Even their French accent is distinct from Quebec. EDIT: Wow, after reading responses to my comment, I cannot believe that so many people here do not understand that my comment was reinforcing that the people of Quebec are not the only people in Canada that speak French. There are also the Acadians who have a history separate from Quebec. Not everyone would recognize the Acadian flag so I was pointing it out. There are small pockets of Canada all across the country that are French. In Quebec, the small pockets are English. Except in the Maritimes where most people are bilingual (except Newfoundland which is English - it only became part of Canada in 1949. Was previously part of Britain).

I went to my best friend‘s wedding in a town in Saskatchewan that was 90% French. I went for a luncheon with her new mother-in-law and eight of her friends and Yvette was translating for me quietly because they were all speaking French. They asked if I could speak French And Yvette said no, and they switched to English immediately. I had the best time. One of my favourite TV shows over the last 10 years has been the French police drama 19-2. Fantastic show. Has an English version but I love to watch the French version. Takes place in Montreal.❤

We Canadians, or most of us, are huge on sarcasm!😂 Funny story, years ago, I worked for a company that dealt hughly in selling products to American churches... I had one pastor ask me if we rode horse and buggy and if I regularly see polar bears! 😂 this was about 25-30 years ago and it took all my strength to keep serious (because i really wanted this sale!) Told him we do have mennonites in small towns that ride horse and buggy, and the only time i see polar bears is when we go to the zoo 😂😂😂. It seems that when it comes to American history, we Canadians are taught at least the basics in school... but Americans seem to have absolutely zero knowledge of our history... sad!!

My father in law was constantly commenting on how many non-white people were in Canada when he visited. I had to tell him multiple times that Canada is not a “white” country and we are immigrants from all over along with aboriginal people who are not white.

I think a lot of Americans assume we are just a bigger version of North Dakota, where the population is 85% white people. But we welcome immigrants, so our 40 million people are very diverse in appearances and cultures.
