There are players who have gone from non-league to premier league - 4 promotions - with the same club. Insane acheivement for the club and player

Also coaches getting they team promoted several times into better leagues, as example FC. Heidenheim from germany getting coached by the same trainer for over 15 years from 5th tier (very low league for small teams from the same state) to the Bundesliga (1st german league) and had stayed in the league last year without getting relegated back down and now even playing internationel in the UEFA Conference League ( smaller soccer tournament below the UEFA Europa League)

A common question new fans ask is, "Which team/club should I support?". That's both very complicated and very simple. In simplest terms, it's meant to be entertainment. Support whatever club you like. Completely up to you. The complication is, most clubs have specific histories, identities, and cultures. Distinctions can be drawn from social class, or even a given labor trade. For example, there are clubs that were originally started as representatives of iron workers, or shipbuilders or miners, or railroad employees. Other clubs are tied to religious or ethnic groups. Still other clubs have strong political sympathies. Bottom line, figure out what is important to you, do a little research, and select a club that matches your values. There is one last thing which I cannot emphasize enough. Do not devote your loyalty to a given club simply because they are good at the present time, or because you happen to like a given player. Like the video says, players change teams - often frequently. And just because a team is good today, it doesn't follow that they'll be world beaters tomorrow. Ask Manchester City. They are the most expensive squad in the world and are suffering from a huge slump at the moment. They are also being investigated for heaps of financial rules violations and may suffer serious consequences up to and including bans and relegation. Most devoted fans despise Manchester City for being corrupt and having a superficial supporter base. PS One final thing... It's perfectly acceptable to support a domestic club as well as a foreign one. There are 90 full time professional teams in the United States. The odds are good that you live near one. Local grass roots support is vital for any sport in any league. And adopting a foreign club as your own makes you feel like part of a worldwide community. IMO, that is the real beauty of football.

To put things into perspective at how hilariously reductive the usa's eeucation based sports system would be for football, one of the breakout stars of the european championships this year was a spanish 16 year old called Lamine Yamal who won the whole tornament with spain, beating england in the final. Hes been playing professionally for over a year too. Imagine he was in the usa and was stuck in fucking high school instead of being a superstar. Same with a lot of the goats like Messi he scored for barcelona at 16 and by 19 was the best player in the world, imagine how held back he would have been needing to go through high school and college drafts etc. This is also why youre starting to see european basketball players elcipse the na players, they often come into the NBA with multiple years more experience professionally than the young college draft picks.

There have been a few changes since this video was made. Out of the top of my head: - Since covid substitutions have been increased to five per match. - UEFA introduced a third tier of European competition, the Conference League. - The champion's League has undergone a major redesign that was implememted this year for the first time.

Leicester City fan here. I'm 38, and I've seen us relegated and promoted more times than I can remember. But it's supremely exciting. I'm an NFL fan too. (Bears fan... which, is frustrating) I'd love to see an open NFL rather than a closed league. But I do love the draft system & salary cap.

Only the best and most up and coming players really benefit from release clauses. Most players are unhappy because they're not playing, and they're not playing because they're not good enough for anyone to meet the release clause!

I like this video, but it's outdated and it leaves out a lot of context and detail. I know it's meant to be a brief overview, but if he's going to mention something, then I wish he'd fully explain it.

A lot of football has changed since that video. They play a thing called a high press where the players passing the ball between them at the back are chased down.

This is an old video. Jose Mourinho is no longer a top coach, he is very much of the past. Forget him. Shame this video doesn't really explain the difference between League CLUBS and NATIONAL Teams. What is being talked about here is Club football. Nothing to do with the World Cup, which is National Teams with players from different clubs, even different leagues.

Football is the same speed as baseball... wtf is he on about 🤣 probably the most ridiculous comparison I've ever heard!
@estranhokonsta

The same speed? He didn't say that. You seem to lack some skills in understanding what people say.
@munnos8233
@munnos8233 4 күн бұрын
Fair enough he didn't say the speed 👐 but he did say the pace of soccer is closer to baseball, which is horribly wrong. Its bit like comparing the pace of rugby league to cricket. The reason mentioned it because its a completely wrong reference point for someone trying to learn the beautiful game. Thanks for reply though 😉
@estranhokonsta
@estranhokonsta 3 күн бұрын
@@munnos8233 I do agree that the comparison looks weird. And it is cool to strive for the best but the best must also have a humble beginning. And that also applies to simple youtube intros about any sport no matter how "beautiful " the subject is. Taken out of context the football/baseball pace comparison was pretty dumb. But taken out of context most comparisons are pretty weak. Following the main theme of the video, he was trying to offer some simple explanation to someone that was unfamiliar with football and was mostly familiar with the US centric TV main sports. As is often the case, "simple" tends to boil down to comparisons simply because "technical" is not a pretty word in those "books for dummy to learn anything without effort or real interest". Which means that its options were not very varied. Was it better to compare it to Basketball pace? What else is there in their meme culture that a "never heard of an atlas or thesaurus"" US citizen? Compare it to the Kardashians pace? Sorry man, but to my eyes, your critic looks like someone reviewing badly a 6 year kid's book about santa claus because it is not historically accurate and is not poetic enough. I mean. To me maybe it is more about the wording? If you had managed to show the weirdness of the comparison in a more humorous way, i would probably quickly liked the comment. Or maybe it is not your wording? maybe it is me who has a lack of humour and understanding today? I do not know. I just have an opinion as most random people in the internet.

You don't half chat some absolute waffle my friend 🤣 It's quite simple, football involves continuous movement, so yes, basketball would have been a better comparison as it shares the same fundamentals, even though its still not a great comparison but a lot better than baseball. Have a good night buddy 😉
