What really surprised me was how the other contestants would go and hug Nemo when their country gave them 12 points. When they won other contestants were the first to hug him. There's a clip where Greece, Portugal, Ireland and Nemo have made a hug circle and they're jumping up and down after Nemo's win. I don't remember this happening before.

There was a group who became friends over the week. They bigged each other up. The four acts in that circle were being harassed by one delegation, can you guess who?

@@francisdunne8542 Take that with a huge grain of salt. EBU's official statement said SOME delegations didn't respect the spirit of the rules (not just one or two). That delegation people are accusing has also complained about harassment. According to some unofficial statements from people who claimed to have worked there, many members of the other delegations insulted the israeli participant when she walked by and try to intimidate her on day one, that's why they put her in a room away from the others. From that day on most delegations (the israeli one included) acted disrespectful, arrogant, antagonized one another and created troubles in a way or another to the point they had to place less problematic delegations (like Germany's, Croatia's and Georgia's) in between them to serve as buffer. So apparently almost nobody was a saint but everyone likes to play victim.

No they have a voting sequence where someone announces who got their countries twelve points (highest ranking) from music professionals, kaarija was supposed to announce those, not participate, due to the Joost contreversy

​@@utrniii sorry I was of course to the ambassador during the points. ( 8:31 ) I just mixed up the wording due to not being a native speaker. I didn't think it would be an issue up until now. So let me make it clear. The contestant from last Year Käärija, was supposed to give the Finish points this year, but did drop out of this obligation due to his friend Joost (NL 2024) famously being disqualified before the final. The Finish contestant this year was Windows 95 man.

Hey! Really cool video, always nice seeing Americans focussing on Eurovision :D The issue with the finnish spokesperson was, that due to different reasons (probably the exclusion of NL) the planned spokesperson didn't show up, but this info wasn't passed along to Petra doing the jury votes. I was part of the crowd in the venue and we all just laughed at this moment xD Greetings ✌🏼

Lol the spokesperson from Serbia was Konstrakta, who participated in Eurovision in 2022 and ended 5th (with a very similar look), and she’s basically and icon in the Eurovision fandom

8:16 malta is an island to the south of italy... lots of children from north africa and the middle east attempt to escape their countries using rafts across the mediterranean and a shit ton of them just die by drowning before they even make it to europe, the teddy bears are meant to be a political statement about it, like "remember all the dead children in the mediterranean we haven't talked about?" cyprus and italy are also known to mention it a lot since them and malta are the countries that usually get the bodies washing up on shore. one of the songs in italy's national final was about this and the guy singing wore a similar outfit

Most americans I've talked to also say that and that his song was the best they've ever heard etc. That's why I generalized when I said "americans" (not "american") say x since the contest is about the song anyway. Same like not all europeans thought nemo was worth 5th (but rather 1st) yet we say europeans say x. No need to be so picky in a comment like that. 😅

The French entries are so.....French😭, luckily, the staging and the voice saved it. From the balads, Portugal is my fav. The harmony writing was amazing, and the voice was flawless. Happy with the 10th place.

@@diofromcali I am talking about the average Joe... Someone without an ear for music. You obviously can hear the difference in quality. Don't get me wrong. It's ok to root for an underdog.. But fans these days are some of the nastiest ever. They will collecively decide which is their favourite and influence each other to think the same and they'll try to annihilate the competition. If you look at commentary over past winners you'll see how they act when they fail to pick the real winner..

I guess you have to have been in your 20's during the 1990's, to really appreciate the 90's vibe of Austria's 'We will rave' - and I certainly did.....and certainly was in my 20's back then, which kind of makes me........ anyway! It clearly went over the heads of you Gen Z'ders! Just thought it had so much hi energy, and was EXACTLY the song to wake people up..... who'd dozed off either at home or in the arena. My god, the strobe lights for it. Intense. Who cares if the lyrics weren't great - when has a rave anthem ever had exquisite lyrics??! I was so surprised that you and Maqwell's favourite song is the Estonian one. I watched Maqwell's stream called: "EUROVISION 2024 WATCHALONG (i think)". He prepared for Estonia and Croatia because he ranked in 2nd and 3rd. Before Lithuanian performance Maqwell played Europapa for skipping the "GENOCIDE" country and people donated to Palestine. The goal is to reach $500. That stream hits the goal after the croatian performance. Maqwell's most hated song for this year's Eurovision is the Cyprus one and he said: "It's actually alright". The final performance was Austria and Maqwell has turned the lights on and guess what: his batteries of the flashlight were running out. The jury voting was the hope that "GENOCIDE" country won't give 12 points to any country until televoting. The televoting was the reason so many countries got robbed even the chat said that. UK got 0 points and then he forgot to skip the "GENOCIDE" country. That's why Maqwell's Twitch account got suspended because of that. Thankfully you managed to complete the whole stream without being suspended from Twitch.

Thanks dude for just dismissing the UK🇬🇧.😢 The UK entry had the best performance, production and staging value of any of the other acts . You forget the UK export more music artist after the US. So it's sad you didn't like Olly Alexander and the boys, who I may say were amazing with that core strength hanging upside down etc during the performance. .

I'm a huge Eurovision nerd myself. You should listen to the studio recordings (they're on KZbin also) of some of the songs you didn't like (not Germany's, it really did stink) and see what you think. The UK's song, for example, is much better. Also...are you able to explain why Switzerland was good? I couldn't stand it and thought it would get "null pointes" but it won. I just don't get it. Croatia should have won. Also, check out Netherland's song that was disqualified, it is also really good

Actually dio explained it pretty good why he liked Switzerland's song, he said: "...the vocals,...the combination of genres like rap, drum n' base and opera,... spinning around that disc without falling over..." 6:20 . I think both Croatia and Switzerland were great, but rooted more for Croatia because I liked the music style more.
