Do you really think that if George Bush senior had not become president, George W. Bush would have had even the slightest chance of becoming president? This is a far cry from comparing apples with pears. In real democracies, there are no descendants of presidents who also become president. This ability is not genetic. In America, the system does not provide for a president to be elected who does not have a lot of money. G.H.W. Bush was a veteran of World War II and served as vice president under Ronald Reagan. He is the inventor of the Nayirah testimony. George W. Bush, on the other hand, was simply the son of a former president, with no other relevant qualifications. He is the initiator of the American torture prisons in Baghdad and Cuba, after he invaded Iraq in violation of international law on the basis of alleged weapons of mass destruction he invented himself. The damage caused by his foreign policy will affect several generations in several countries.

pj is sooo alpha he only giggles when the german comedian makes fun of Germany, as soon as the US get made fun of it is not funny to him and he starts apologizing he reacted like that when other comedians made fun the US too - he is just not a good reactor for comedy

My man, I think you are missing the point. In America you need to be rich to become president and you only have 2 parties. This way the elites stays in power and they even have the chance to push their sons and daughters to get into power (see Bush family). In some way this certainly is a parallel to North Korea. And it definitely is different in European democracies. (not perfect, but way better)

I think there is a problem with this video, because Hagen Rether is a VERY ironical comedian and it's almost impossible to understand, if you have to rely on subtitles. 80% of this sketch is just sarcasm and often he means just the opossite of what he says, but you can only understand that, if you know how german sarcasm works and how he uses his words. It's not your fault but there is a clear language barriere here, which makes it almost impossible for non native speaker to understand this video on their own. You may should go with people like Volker Pisper, who have similar topics, but clearly state what they mean.

You're right, the "Bush story" can hardly be compared with North Korea. The American people can at least choose who governs the USA. If, for example, a D. Trump is elected, then that's just the way it is. (I'm a little ashamed right now, because Trump's ancestors came from my state in Germany...) Back to the topic of North Korea: In North Korea, communism was turned into a family business. I don't think that was Karl Marx's intention. (Personal note: I'm not a communist. I'd rather put up with "evil" capitalism than the "freedom" of communism.) 😀

Rether is overrated. Volker Pispers and Georg Schramm are where German Satire used to be at, unfortunately they quit, but there stuff is still relevant.

The problem with this satire in the mainstream media is that it is one-sided, as it only ever presents extreme left-wing viewpoints. At some point, you can't stand watching it anymore.
