the two receptionists at the hotel are often a double act known "Mel and Sue" they had their own show called late lunch and they used to host the great British bake off. they were involved in comedy such as here and with Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders. kathy Burke used to work with French and Saunders too

Peter Mendelson was a Labor MP rumored to be gay. He was quite the political manipulator. The two gals at reception are Mel and Sue, two brilliantly funny ladies who've been a comedy & writing team for over 30 years. They hosted the Great British Bake Off for several years.

Another great episode and reaction. One of the many, many things I love about this show is the random, unexpected that happens in the 'background' so to speak, and the characters don't appear to notice 😆. Tom dragging the person up the stairs with his bag, the old lady being knocked over crossing the street in a previous episode etc

"Edward Woodward", Mel and Sue, Linda done up like Michael Myers from Halloween, wearing a sheet like a ghost with holes cut out for the eyes, and the glasses over them, great episode! I did feel a bit sad for Tom though. :( Had Golden Wonder Sausage and tomato crisps with pink lady apple juice whilst watching! Loved the analysis at the end as usual. :)

Once upon a Time, I was like Tom in this episode, ready and willing to hit the clubs and go on the pull :P Nowadays I'm more like Linda, "can't be arsed" xD Best thing about this is everyone is pure gold, James Dreyfuss does the camp gay remarkably well lol Incidentally, I know this would be much further down the line, given you have this and you recently started Goodnight Sweetheart and Vicar of Dibley, but I have all 4 series of Coupling which I think you would like (Think of this one as Friends meets Sex in the City). I'm thoroughly enjoying Kid! Plenty of laughs again in this episode. I think Linda and Tom are both bitchy to each other, but Tom isn't as nasty with it as Linda is, sabotaging the poor guy and getting him punched!
