Fun fact: Switzerland doesn't actually have an official Capital. Bern is used as the "de facto" capital as the house of parliament is located there.

It's like our Swedish national anthem then. Formally we don't have one, but the one that is heard when we win in sports is our ”de facto national anthem”. It's called ”Du gamla, du fria” (”you old, you free”, word by word) but it was originally called ”Du gamla, du friska”, where ”frisk” means healthy (the ”a” is added for grammar reasons).

Interesting video.👍👍 Obviously in old history the settlements where near rivers, where people could trade goods transported by boats.

He is not American. He is Portuguese from Portugal. You can tell by his accent. Also, Turkey is partly in Europe so it counts

@@SonOfBaraki359That doesn't work like that. Turkey's OFFICIAL* borders are located in both Europe & Asia. Thrace region ain't an autonomous region, it's fully belongs to Turkey. Also parts of Russia, Azerbaijan, Georgia & Kazakhstan are in both Europe & Asia too.

The name of the city of Berlin has nothing to do with a bear. Berlin was originally a Slavic village. "Berl" means "swamp" in the language of the Old West Slavs, and the suffix "in" means "within". So in Old West Slavic the word Berlin literally means "village in the swamps". The entire eastern third of today's Germany was originally inhabited by Slavic tribes. The association with the bear arose much later, when the area was occupied by the Germans, in an attempt to cover up the fact that the area originally belonged to the Polabian Slavs.

Don't be fooled into pronouning Oslo as "Oschlo". Very few Norwegians do that :) Not even true Oslo-ers, I've been told :)

The Italians have a saying " Si non e vero, e ben trovato" (if it isn't true, it's well invented). It's very apt for most explanations I think, especially for Rome.

Finlands (A word that is Swedish) Suomi is the Finnish word for our country but internationally only Finland is used, never Suomi. The capitols name is HELSINGFORS, not Helsinki or Hellstinky as British likes to call it. 500,000 out of Finlands 5,500,000 Millions are Swedish talking Finns. If you only speak Finnish you will be isolated as you can not talk with other Nordic countries such as Sweden, Norway, Denmark. You must talk Swedish to communicate.
