Not just dangerous to wildlife these days. As average temps increase the vegetation dries out faster and more often so any kind of unnecessary stray flammable thing should be kept in check.

I could be wrong but I think Chinese lanterns are banned in the UK. Pretty sure they were the cause of a few fires.

Seems from Google there's no national ban, but a lot of councils have banned them. There's petitions against them from farmers and RSPCA

Those lanterns are supposedly safe because they stay up while alight, when out they plummet, but then get dropped on places they are not wanted and dangerous to wildlife.

Those lanterns are dangerous. One of them landed on the roof of my friends house. They were watching tv and could smell burning. They went outside to see if someone had a bonfire and when then looked up their whole roof was on fire. She was out of her house for over a year whilst it was all repaired. Luckily no one was hurt thank God. Since that is freak out when I see them.

The hair guy! This happened to me once. It was back in the 80’ if anyone remembers hairstyles from back then, think Flock of Seagulls. I was at a party and in the kitchen (there’s a great song about that) and decided to light my cigarette off the gas burner. Worked well. Too well. I am just under 5 feet tall (and have a temper). Some quick thinking guy reached over who I was talking to and slapped me on the head. I went off on in. He was too scared to tell me my hair was on fire until someone else did. I wish I could say I stopped smoking…but I did reduce my hairspray consumption greatly. Love your channel.

Yes those Chinese lantern are dangerous. They’ve been known to land on barns and stable and start fires. A few years ago it had been a lovely summer day and I had washed my lovely heirloom quilt and it was drying on the line all day. One of those things landed on it and burnt it, then the damn thing floated in the back door. A neighbour had luckily spotted it and ran round to tell me. We were lucky the whole house didn’t go up.
