As a toddler, we are already taught how to eat correctly with a knife and fork. Good table manners are important and show the ability to behave

Moin, as they say in Schleswig-Holstein. It's not that easy to cut fish with a fish knife. I learned how to do it, but I often see people handling it as if it were a bush knife. As a North German, I'm definitely happy that you like our cuisine. Be sure to check out Part 1. There's not just fish here in northern Germany, although I really like Fish. This sugar for East Frisian tea is called candy sugar or we also call it Kluntje in Low German and it is mainly used in tea. Northern Germany is often overlooked because most visitors naturally visit southern Germany or Berlin, our capital. But northern Germany has its own charm with its old Hanseatic cities like Bremen, Lübeck, or Hamburg. The brick buildings are also typical of our region. Regardless of whether it is a residential building or a church, the buildings here are usually made of bricks.

We all eat two-handed with a fork on the left and a knife on the right, but at the meal in the video (11:53) he had a special fish cutlery with which you can lift the fish with the knife like with a spatula. Greetings from Cologne, Germany

This fish is not coocked, it is a pickled herring. The herring is brined in a vinegar and salt + herbs. Acids like vinegar and lemon/citrus convert the fish meat protein as if it were cooked.

the ostfriesentee (tea) is in my opinion the best in whole germany. it is based on a black tea, but is still quite nice and soft in flavour. especially mixed with the heavy cream. when i am visiting the northern sea, i always order it everywhere i am. the only thing i know that has similarities are irish breakfast tea's.

I tried fisian black tea befor. White candis first (called klubjes /little lumps, they melt slower than you can drink and stay in the cup for the next tea), pore the tea and add the cream. And very impotant. Don't stir!

The cream is always poured into the cup in an anti-clockwise direction. The idea is to stop time. The sugar, the Kluntje, slowly dissolves in the hot tea. When drinking tea, you slowly move from the pure tea taste to the sweet part at the bottom of the cup. The East Frisians have the highest tea consumption in the world. Around 300 liters per person per year.

The bismark herring and the matjes herring with the labskaus are not cooked at all. The bismark herring is pickled in a sour brine. The matjes herring is pickled in brine with pancreatic enzymes.

Lol. He is professional in using the fork? Now I need to see you eating. I had a look at the restaurants with german food in Michigan, the "Metzger`s" seems to be the most authentic. Please go there and show us your reaction and your fork handling aswell.

Many Americans cut the meat with the fork on the left and the knife on the right, then put the knife out of the hand, take the fork to the right and only then eat. Very cumbersome and irritating for us Europeans. Especially since it is also common there to place the unused hand under the table, on the thigh/lap. Many Anericans also only use the fork, crush their food with it and "shovel" the food into themselves.

When I was a kid, the adults used to jokingly say "Swept out bakehouse" when we bought rum balls. At that time, it was common to make rum balls from leftover dry cake. 😉

As others already said: Yes, we eat this way. The American way of just holding the fork in the right hand (and doing all the knive work at the beginning or constantly swapping the fork to the left to use the knife and then lay it back und swap the fork back to the right) is viewed as rude or at least improper behavior (though I don't know how most people handle it in private at home... at least sometimes I do it as well, but only when I am alone and very lazy - but in public or with friends I would feel ashamed to do so).

Important on our teaceremonie is,that the cream i must put in the cup from the other side ,means not with the clock ordern back cos we wanna make ich it the time slowlier for a wile^^ It gives here a fishbrötchen with Name "Bremer" , that is bit like a ordanery Hamburger just with a fishpatty & a diferemt breat than a ordanery Hamburger. Bremen is a northern City ame like Hamburger is too^^

moin😊 ut bremerhaven,...dat weer mol lecker 👍 ...where is the FISCHBRÖTCHEN?????? every north german eat fischbrötchen👍. and where is kohl with pinkel? and röhrkohl?? every german learn in age 5-6 to eat perfekt with knive and fork., its normal tradition.😊 allerbest ut noorddüütschland vun de waterkant👍 hool di wuchtig mien keerl👍 update, .... de michael hebbt mi vertellt dat fischbröök un pinkel weer in den eersten deel vun de film👍. hebb ik net sehn😊 boernfröhstück und lecker stekelrüben fehlt aver, mmhhh, dat is lecker! ik kreeg nu aver bannig hunger.

Here on the north frisian island I live you have to pour the milk always counterclockwise in your cup. It's to hold on the time, centuries old unwritten rule. Yes, everyone uses knife and fork this way

Its not true that Currywurst is a Berlin invention! The is the nothern Original (Hamburg) and a famous western (Bochum) and the Berlin Currywurst which is quite Controllers because the Berlin one is without skin (gut) so no crispiness. In my opinion the Hamburg Currywurst was the first since Hamburg is THE known city as the "door to the world" - habor city, how else find an indian spice its way in the german houses. And there are many versions. Especially the sauce, you have to have your own good signature sauce, if you want to sell currywurst. Some boiled it with Cola, some with smashed apples, and so on...
