AC isn’t common at all in the UK especially in Scotland, most houses and buildings are built to keep heat in due to the cold weather and rain most of the year, so when we get a warm day it can get really hot especially in the house even with all the windows open

The charm with Still Game is that for us Scots, it's not far from reality. The characters remind us of people we know or relatives who may no longer be with us. It's relatable, as far fetched as some of it may be. Characters like these exist all over the World and whilst the show may not be huge all over the world just now, it will be one of those shows that will stand the test of time, and its following will grow.
@Azza-pq3gq4 жыл бұрын
The reason why the new seasons failed, was because how farfetched it became. The original was close to home, that's why it was so good.

Vast majority of houses in the UK don't have AC but every place I've worked had it and most shops do now. My bedroom for a few years was a loft conversion and for a few weeks every summer it was unbearable. But that would be the only weeks in the year it would be needed really.

As far as I’m aware, there’s no AC in our house but it’s never usually a problem cos it’s typically shite weather here. If u want to cool down u can use a fan or just sit outside like the episode. Also I would pronounce Bournemouth like “Bowrnmith” but depends where ur from I guess lol

Hey Kid, Great Episode as usual Buddy. Bournemouth isn't in Scotland, it's on the far South coast in England. Most places in the UK don't have air-con Just big stores have it, some houses have it but its VERY expensive here! The Summers are getting so much hotter in the UK, where I am London is usually the hottest, it really becomes unbearable in mid / high Summer here, can be agonizing with no air and VERY humid. So this scene is about right in England, not sure about Scotland, never been there.
@bxkid74 жыл бұрын
thank you bro for this!
@PerryCJamesUK3 жыл бұрын
@@bxkid7 Bournemouth has some of the highest house prices in the UK in general so you will find that many of the houses there are top spec with AC and the like. I saw this documentary on BBC 4 I think on how AC in the USA changed politics because it allowed older and richer people to leave urban centres and move to the Southern states, making the larger cities' population younger, poorer and therefore more prone to criminal activity.
@scotmac51432 жыл бұрын
We don't put AC into our houses, bcoz it's either too hot so we just open the windows, or its too cold so we put the heating on. Our Summers don't last long enough for us to get AC pal. 💙

We always went to the park, sometimes folks would take folding seats etc . I would say though, for local parks, you just went as you were. When is was an organised picnic with parents etc and you were going to the coast etc, then folding seats were always packed into the car

We don't have AC in Scotland because it never gets hot enough to warrant using them. It's very rare for it to be unbearably hot here.
@lordwalker713 жыл бұрын
Not sure why they used Fahrenheit when Scotland uses Celsius. I grew up in Canada but my parents are Scottish so I would go there quite often when I was younger and it never gets hot enough to warrant air conditioning plus it can cost a lot to power them. It also rains a lot in Scotland, it can be bright and sunny one minute and pouring rain the next.
@CROsigliere4 жыл бұрын
AirCon in Scotland, hahahaha. I wish! But there is people starting to get the green energy air conversion units so it’s an AC and heating in one, cold air to hot and hot air to cold
@KurtCobainsMicrophone4 жыл бұрын
Yes it's true. Most people here in Scotland don't have any form of air conditioning, because hot weather here is extremely uncommon. We have maybe, a week of warm weather all year. Useless having an AC when you would only use it a few days a year, so we just buy a fan or eat our weight in ice lollies.
@simplyscottish76564 жыл бұрын

I love in scotland, close to Glasgow actually where still game in. And I can say with confidence AC only comes in cars. It's not a mandatory need here despite our summers reaching up to 30celsius which for me is far far to hot I can't handle heat very well.... I'd love AC.... but no our houses are not built with it you need to pay quite a bit of money to get a system fitted

AC is near nonexistant. I have never met a single person who has AC in their home. You just open the window, what I do in my apartment is I'll prop open the internal doors, and open the windows in the kitchen, livingroom and bedrooms and normally theres enough of a wind to carry some air through he flat. Most work places/bars/etc unless they are relatively modern wont have AC either. I work in a university research building thats < 20 years old, and we don't have AC, but because we do research with bacteria and cells and stuff, none of the windows open. It is actually freaking hell in the summer. I've genuinly had to do tempreture sentitive experements in the walk in cooler like running gels because the labs so hot the gels would melt and wreck the experements. We don't get hot weather very often though.

Normally our weather doesn't justify AC but its just so annoying that since the lockdown began in march we've had a whole lot of sunny weather and its about to get seriously warm over the next few days. Sadly unlike Jack and Victor we've not been allowed to sunbathe in our parks due to Covid rules, though that's about to change soon and people have been doing it anyway despite it being currently against the law. Jack and Victor could actually have chosen any number of parks instead as Glasgow has over 70 major parks, some of them very large. But its true, we Glaswegians are so sun starved that when we do get fine, warm weather we are obsessive in exposing our white and pale skin till it fries and goes a painful lobster colour. We call such a day "taps aff" day (tops off). To be honest in our homes its often not the temperature which causes the most discomfort and the need for fans, but the very high humidity. We're surrounded by water. A day of 22C in Glasgow can be more uncomfortable than 35C in the Mediterranean. ( sorry don't know the Fahrenheit equivalent)
