Mumble rap never really affected Finnish music. You did see its influence in the beats people chose and in some of the themes of the songs, but we never started to mumble. At some point rap from south finland started to chance and it's barely Finnish with all the loaned words they use.

We did have some small effects, for example I think Kube had some mumbly songs in the late 2010's. But you're right that the mumbling never got really bad like in the US.

It took so long Finnish rap to have any sort of audience, the early stuff was mostly your local weedheads releasing tapes on cassettes. And this went on until at least like 2000, only few actual albums were released.

Redrama might be the most known Finnish rapper in overseas. His song was one of the soundtracks of the NBA videogame (Redrama - I don't know what to tell you)

@@DecibelAlex I didn't say the most popular - I said the most known. The NBA video game alone has massive amount of players, millions and millions which means they all have heard it many times. Bomfunk Mc's was well known in Europe but not elsewhere.

I would not have mind them replacing few Cheeck tracks. But overall, so many artists were missing. I think Raimo - Negatiivista palautetta, should have been in there as its like the first big posse track. That basically had everyone from that period in that scene.

These are the best selling/famous artists in this list but many greats are missing. Start with Redrama: Hang it up, Paleface: Aakkosmurha and Don Johnson Big Band - One MC, One Delay. These artists have started late 90,s and are still in! OGs like Avain/Asa and Fintelligens. I would Start with these... Thanks for reaction. Hola from Finland!

The video kind of skips a lot of the greatest stuff, especially from the golden era around 2001-2009 and all of the art (/backpacker) rap scene and every female artist. Also switching too fast, some of the songs only get a little bit of the chorus and no clips from the verses.

Rap is from America and Finland is really small so the rap styles from America defined Finnish rap 100%

Rap is fundamentally poetry set to music, it's not just random words on samples and beats (unless we're talking about mumble rap). The first Finnish rhymes appear first in written sources in 16th century (when America was being colonized) and has been in hymns and folk music up til modern day music. Finns rhyme about summer, nature, love and just daily life, like Finns have done from the beginning. The music only changed tone
