Some fantastic places included , however hundreds more could be included. You would need 2 weeks for London alone and still wouldn’t see near all the history. As someone who has lived on the island for 60 years I must say it is an absolutely beautiful place to live, work and grow up , I have been nearly everywhere but not everywhere it would be impossible. I would happily take you on a tour of London would be my absolute pleasure sir. Take care

To make another comment. Stonehenge is only one of many megalithic monuments we have ( from the period 3500-1500 BC), and there are many others, often less touristy, and where they do allow to touch the stones. We are beginning to unravel why and how these monuments were built. Near Stonehenge they're discovered there was a vast circular monuments called now Durrington Walls. Remains have been found of huge feasts, with animal bones isotopically discovered to be as far as Scotland. There may have been these great regular gatherings, and the erection of Stonehenge may have been the result of large numbers of people meeting and working together for generations. There is still a mystery about some of the smaller stones ; they are called 'bluestones", and they come from well over a hundred miles away in Pembrokeshire. This must have been a colossal achievement. When I was younger the astronomical aspect was still considered to be "fringe"; it's now mainstream. Important alignments point out the positions of the Midsummer and Midwinter Solstices at Stonehemge, and its builders also seem to have had a knowledge of when eclipses occur.

I’m from Scotland in the Uk.. The Lake District looks like my homeland ,or Wales. Or even Ireland is as beautiful and picturesque as The Lake District.. This is a very short list. You could actually double it with just as gorgeous holiday locations. And, regarding distances between places bc the Uk is small in comparison to the USA you could travel from London..(England) to Edinburgh..(Scotland) on an overnight coach..Or there’s also the option of rail travel which’s very popular for folks as it’s faster to get from city to city & theres no traffic congestion like there is on the roads.. Unlike the USA most folks don’t fly from city to city as most small cities like York for e.g don’t have airports.. But you can travel via the channel tunnel, I think it’s called (that maybe wrong lol) to get from London to Paris.. (the tube, btw is the famous London Underground railway..which you can travel all over London Underground, on that) or via the roads above ground.. IM REALLY ANNOYED THAT NONE OF SCOTLAND, LIKE OUR BEAUTIFUL CAPITAL CITY OF EDINBURGH WASNT ON THIS LIST..VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!! 👎🏼

What about other countries across UK? This video covers some places within England only (side note: London is a rip but worth a visit nonetheless. As it's ridiculously expensive I'd recommend staying on the outskirts and travelling into London for the day). There are beautiful places worth visiting in Wales and Scotland. Let's not forget Ireland too...

If you ever come to York, I can give you a tour! This list is very south heavy (not that I disagree with any). The Peak District is also stunning and the Lake District is huge and much more than just the clips in the video. Also nearer York is Leeds, which used to be a massive Wool industry hub and one of the bigger cities. It has working Mills and beautiful parks. Whitby is a small coastal town with links to Bram Stokers Dracula. If you want Roman remains, then check out Hadrians Wall and the surrounding Roman ruins in Northumberland, which spans the width of the England near the current Scottish boarder.

Not a great video of the UK. (Btw...I am British). When the AI is talking about the Palace Pier they are actually showing you the West Pier, a victim of fires many years ago. For USA viewers, Brighton had 2 piers. The one that looks "active" is, that is the Palace Pier. No 8...the "Country" of Cumbria should actually say the "County" of Cumbria. If you are considering a UK visit do not particularly chose to base yourself in London. You need 2 weeks minimum just to do all the usual tourist stuff in London. There is so much more to our country than this suggests.
@masierose67565 ай бұрын
I’m afraid this is not a great video. Yes some of these places are interesting (depending on what you’re looking for) but this is not a top 10 of the UK, it’s only looking at England…. What about Scotland, Ireland, Wales and the Islands❓I suggest you look at the Tourist Information for each of these regions to get a better idea. For example, if you want to see the earliest henge monument in the UK then go to the island of Orkney, Scotland. There’s a wealth of history in Orkney including Skara Brae, Europe’s most complete Neolithic village, older than Stonehenge and the Great Pyramids of Giza. In Ireland you could see Newgrange in the Boyne Valley, County Meath, Ireland. It’s a 5,200 year old passage tomb where each year on the Winter Solstice, a beam of sunlight travels up the stone-lined passage illuminating the inner chamber. With construction starting in 1067 Chepstow Castle, Chepstow, Monmouthshire, Wales is the oldest surviving post-Roman stone fortification in the UK. Another thing you can do is go Nessie hunting 😁 on or around Loch Ness in the Highlands of Scotland. There is so much you can see and do in all these wonderful regions, I would advise thinking about how you really want to spend your time and research your options❣️ Good luck 🥰💙🌹

As other commenters have said, don't confuse the UK and England. You'll get into trouble! Our King Henry VIII ( reigned 1509-1547) broke with the Roman Catholic Church for refusing to grant his divorce with his first wife. Actually, there was a lot more to that. His father had with great difficulty brought peace after a civil war, by marrying the princess from the other side. Henry VIII absolutely had to have a son, to keep the peace continuing, and kings were nearly always granted annulments; in this case there were good technical grounds. ( His wife only had a daughter, and she was passed child-bearing; she had been his brother's widow, which was dodgy.) But a powerful foreign empire had the papacy under control, and stopped the annulment because they wanted to invade and marry the heir to that empire to the daughter. So Henry VIII broke with Rome. But he was frightened of the power of the monasteries. They were not as popular as they had been, because some had become corrupt. So he dissolved the monasteries (1536-1539). Some of their churches were taken over for use as parish churches; but many were left to fall into ruins. Our laws have a wonderful system of Rights of Way, in which you gave a right to walk down ancient paths. You also have a Right to Roam on much high moorland. Thus you can walk all over our beautiful land.

I live just north of Weymouth, so the Jurassic Coast is our bit. It really is beautiful but we do get snided out with holidaymakers in summer, making everyday activities a bit of a bind. I'd say the whole of Dorset is at least a month's worth of visiting, and that's just one county. You can easily find out journey times using Google maps. So, Cambridge to Weymouth is 4-5 hours (at the moment) by road or train, being just shy of 200 miles.

2000 years of history in the first example. Brighton had 2 piers, the 'beat up' one was a theta, was about to be renovated with some public funding after a small fire. it may have provided competition to the other pier. suddenly after the funding was announced it was burnt down fully. it was suspicious but no one was caught. that was 2005. cambridge to coast is about 4-5 hours. Oxford uni 900 years at the oldest. Stonehenge, the sun lines up at the solstice twice a year. 5000+ years old. the stone comes from hundreds of miles away. Bath has roman parts and predates the invasion 2000 years ago. Tube is the underground. London also dates back more than 2000 years but is the biggest city in europe. Cheddar gourge, Windsor castle, yorkshire dales, white cliffs (bit boring), hundreds of castles or roman remains. err lots of angry brits in their cars lol
