His mother is Tibetan. He can’t speak single Tibetan word. He doesn’t even know how to do CHEMA. He has never been to any Tibetan event his whole life. This is his first time in 40 years. Extremely weird now he finally remembers he’s a Tibetan. it’s all his mom’s fault because he seems very nice. Never blame kids, blame the mother for not teaching their kids Tibetan language and culture:

Proud of him being a mayor from a first generation Indian-Tibetan family but it’s election time, just listen to him and learn what you gotta learn, appreciate or whatever. At the end of the day if you are gonna vote, vote for the right person. Whatever he said about trump ain’t right tho, as per what ik.

He talked about media, majorities of media are controlled directly or indirectly by Democrats, he talked about trump weaponising legal system, it’s the other way around it’s the democrats who weaponised legal system on the former president DT. He talked about immigration, off course every government wants their rule of laws to be respected, if a government wants illegal immigrants then there sth wrong with the government in power with.

If you listen to news or people you are misinformed and if you don’t then you are uninformed! You ain’t gonna have the right information until and unless you listen to independent media and do little research!

His grandfather was also a well-known leader of Derge Kham. It is said that my grandfather recognized his abilities and rewarded him accordingly with a title and land. This would have been possible in an independent kingdom. I remember his mother her family used to come to viste us in Darrjeeling.

Derge has always been about meritocracy. In a more broader context Tibetan culture is all about religion, compassion, family, and open mindedness, and within it Khampa culture in general is about bravery and showmanship but in Kham Derge in addition to all of the above intellect and skill were equal if not more important factors. People with skill, intellect, talent, hard work were always put in the pedestal while people born in high positions or landed gentry's who lacked skill, talent, courage, and leadership skills were demoted or unfollowed/removed not only by the public but even by their family from leadership positions as it is what was best for their towns/villages/kingdom. This culture of meritocracy and respecting those with skills, intellect, and talent have been critical for the survival of derge culture and long may it continue.

Progressive left, as Mayor claim to be one, was one desirable ideology in its beginning stage. It had now morphed into insane platform that could ruin the very American dreams and standards that Tibetans or any other genuine refugees and legal immigrants were drawn to. If you are worried about this sudden and dramatic change in American ideological landscape, then vote conservatives to pull it back to middle.

Let me use this opportunity to bring awareness to the oppression of Tibetans. No, I am not talking about the Tibetans in China. I am talking about Tibetans in occupied South Tibet, which was annexed by India in 1951 and made a state by India in 1987 to become the so-called Arunachal Pradesh. The Tibetans in occupied South Tibet are fast becoming strangers in their own native homeland because the Indian government is settling Indians in the region to change the demographic structure of the region. The Indians like to mock them, calling them Chinese as a form of insult (sometimes calling them names such as the C* word or the M* word.) Rape by Indians in occupied South Tibet is a major source of resentment of the locals to the Indian occupiers. Another thing is that India simply doesn't trust the locals and likes to accuse them of being Chinese spies if they don't display enough loyalty to the Indian occupier. This area is tightly controlled by India with limited access to the outside world. In 2014 a Tibetan Chinese called Nido Tania went to Delhi and was beaten to death because he looked 'Chinese'. His case was hardly an isolated one. Rape by Indians is a major source of tension in South Tibet against India. Today South Tibet is restless, and India knows it. This is the reason AFSPA (Armed Force Special Powers Act) is imposed on South Tibet. AFSPA dates back to colonial times when the British were running South Asia. AFSPA gives India the power to detain or kill anyone with impunity. AFSPA is imposed on regions India deemed 'disturbed,' such as Kashmir and South Tibet. The Tibetans in occupied South Tibet are voiceless people because they are not the right kind of Tibetans, so their plight is ignored by the world at large. I have yet to hear from the Western media of any concern about human rights abuse of the Tibetans in occupied South Tibet by India. Free South Tibet from India.
