There's a good Cricket explained for Americans vid, that uses baseball to explain the basics of cricket in terms more familiar to you guys over the pond. Most US reactors tend to start there and find it very helpful in getting a grasp of the game and the basic principles of playing it. Once you get it, it's quite easy to follow without knowing all of the weird sounding terminology which you'll kind of just pick up as you go along the more you watch. Now would be good time to learn, the US is co-hosting the T20 Cricket World Cup later on this year. The shortest/quickest and arguably most exciting form of the game, it's hoped it might grow the sport's popularity in the states, where there is a fledgling US cricket league already apparently.

Baseball appears to have come from another traditional English game called Rounders. It is played with a short baseball style bat and the batters have to circle around posts to score. The ball is bowled underarm and the batter must run if he/she hits the ball ( that does not apply in cricket).

You have 11 on each team, the fielding team has a wicket-keeper and the fielders take it in turns to bowl 6 balls called an over, once someone has bowled 6 balls, the fielding team changes end, and someone else bowls 6 balls, once a bowler has bowled a certain amount of overs, they can't bowl anymore and a bowler can't bowl 2 overs in a row. The batting team, there are two out, whoever hits the ball or the striking Batter will get the number of runs on their terms, so if they run to the other end, e.g Team A plays Team B, and Batter A is batting 1 is batting, the striking batter for Team A and the other Batter I'd Batter 2, he hits it successfully runs to the other end Team A has 1 run Batter 1 has 1 run Batter 2 wouldn't have a run The score are displayed Team Batting Runs/Wickets (Batters that are out) once 10 are out the other team bats. There are also extra, which means the team batting are rewarded runs from the fielding teams, they aren't rewarded to the striker Batter, they are, Wides, No balls, byes and leg byes. Batters can also receive a 4 or 6, 6 is the equivalent of a home run, the ball reaches the boundary. Batters can be caught out Ran out Stumped out A method called Leg Before Wicket, 5 Criteria has to be met before this happened Timed out, if the Batter coming on takes to long.

At 7:18 the bowler overstepped the line as he bowled the ball, so it is a no ball (not legal) but what was "unbelievable" was the distance by which he overstepped, most 'no balls' for overstepping are by an inch or two. In a game between England and Pakistan in 2010 a Pakistani bowler overstepped by as much as this one and there was an investigation which revealed it was a deliberate act of 'spotfixing' involving the young bowler, the team captain and a third player who were paid by a bookmaker to do it on a specific ball so huge sums could be illegally bet on a no ball happening on that delivery (pitch). After the investigation the bookmaker and the three players ended in a British court and served custodial sentences in an English prison.

If you don't know what's going on and you are getting into a new sport, i would say it's obvious that you had to watch the basic rules first, either you can react to something like that, or just watch it yourself and then react to cricket videos, Although i liked that your reaction was pure and you didn't pretend that you are understanding what's going on, but i would love to watch your reaction on cricket when you have basic sense of what's happening, I would suggest to watch or react to the video titled "Cricket for Americans" first.

There is no point watching a compilation like this if you know nothing about cricket. You do not know enough to be able to work out what is happening and why it is happening. You need a simple intro to the aims and structure of the game then you can watch compilations with hyperbolic titles.

Baseball seems to be very similiar to the UKs game of Rounders played by 8 to 11 yr old Girls and Boys at school with the exception our UK Players do not wear crash helmets or any other padding.

Baseball evolved from the game called rounders which is almost identical to baseball cricket is unrelated to baseball I'm from Yorkshire born and bred considered the home of cricket and I haven't got a bloody clue about the rules never liked playing a game with a solid wooden ball only cushioned by a thin layer of leather being thrown at me at about 50mph much preferred rounders it was a game all the kids in our neighborhood used to play growing up and it didn't matter if you were any good or not it was just about having fun 👍

Cricket is the 'gentlemens game' although sometimes the bowlers look like they could kill lol. My country, South Africa, has produced the cream of the crop in bowling, batting and fielding. this video was a bad choice to learn about cricket. Anyway things that are surely going to confuse you the most is LBW. Leg Before Wicket is a rule when you block the ball from your pads on legs to not let it hit the wickets. So in cricket if the ball hits your pads without hitting your bat and it was going to hit the whicket it is lbw out. The main rule is you cannot block the wickets with your body. I know it is confusing it me a lot of time to understand it. Please watch a better better video.
