cafe tacvba has folk songs that represent more the Mexican idiosyncrasy such as "la ingrata" or "las flores". "eres" was a hit, because it is a good pop song, with elements that embrace a greater number of listeners, but in this one one of the essence of the band is not lost, which is the theme it deals with: the love of youth . This theme is present in many of his songs, and he treats it with a feeling of nostalgia remembering the first love, the purest, the most innocent, and crazy at the same time. Although at first glance it seems a subject that is already widely used and expressed, cafe tacvba treats it masterfully, using really admirable poetic figures as we can see in, for example, "el baile y el salón", where he metaphorically compares life herself and love with a ballroom. If you are looking for a purely Mexican song, listen to "La ingrata", but the performance of "Las flores" on MTV Unplugged seems quite memorable to me.

This is very good song, but it is not the most intersting musically. It is ultra popular because of the lyrics, and every teenager with a crush was a sucker for it. But check their album "Re." They have some fun stuff there. Record labels didnt want to release that album because they wanted a hit. And Cafe Tacvba was more interested in trying to establish an "uniquely Mexican alternative" sound.

If you are going to react to Spanish music, seeing the style you are looking for, I would recommend "Heroes del Silencio". It is surely not the most representative band of Spanish music, since, in my opinion, flamenco and all its styles are. in that case I would recommend "Camarón", for example. but it is very pure flamenco, and requires an understanding of gypsy and Spanish culture. Bands such as "Triana" or "Medina Azahara" emerged that mixed flamenco with elements of 70s rock bands, such as Black Sabbath or Deep Purple. Likewise, if I had to recommend one, I would recommend "Heroes del Silencio", a band from the 80s and 90s, where a unique guitarist stands out for his way of creating guitar melodies and a singer with a powerful and elegant voice, and a presence in very attractive scene. his best songs, in my opinion, are "Maldito Duende", "Entre dos tierras", "Mar adentro" and "La chispa adecuada".
