I used to go here quite a bit during as a student (it's near UIC). You can smell the onions from the highway, it's great. And Jim's has the best fries out of all of them (Maxwell street is right next to it). My go to is usually a polish and a double cheeseburger when I was younger (can't be doing that as much ow that i'm middle aged lol)

I've been going to Jim's since it was on Maxwell and Halstead, and the new location on Union forever. In all that time I've never ordered a hot dog there? Just Polish Sausage or Pork Chop sammich's! Either way they never let you down or leave hungry!😅

Many years ago, I worked in Newark, NJ, where one of the best Italian hotdogs came from a greasy spoon joint on Williams Street. The front window was covered with grease, and you couldn't look in, so the cook cleaned a one-foot circle so that he could look out. The place was from another time, but the "Jimmy Buff's style dogs" were absolutely delicious.

I live in OC, CA and when I go to LA for an event at Staples Center or the Microsoft Theater, I always stop at the street vendors outside making really good grilled dogs with grilled onions and peppers. Never go wrong with those guys.

Go to Swiacki’s in Philadelphia, Port Richmond section (heavily Polish Section) and get yourself some fresh kielbasa bring it home and cook it in sauerkraut until it gets soft pour a can of beer in if you like then get yourself some hard rolls and make kielbasa and sauerkraut sandwiches, mustard if you like, you’ll think you died and went to heaven.
