As a Toronto resident and former Timmie’s employee I’m going to try to answer every question you had in one comment. A double double is a way to order your coffee, instead of saying I’d like a coffee with 2 cream two sugar, we just say double double, or triple triple, or “medium black”, “medium 2 cream” and so on. This is only at Tim Hortons that we tend to leave the word coffee out lol and you tell the employees so they can do it with the cream and sugar machine because yeah, the ratio will not be the same if you add your own cream and sugar to a black coffee. The iced cap can be made in a variety of ways but the original as is iced cap is made with cream, no additions, and yes you should of been given a straw lol. The turkey bacon club does not come with cheese but you could ask them to add it. The timbits are whack now. We used to have sooooo many flavours, even temporary “Tim bieb’s” which was Justin Bieber timbits which put some extra flare on the remaining flavours we have now. The plain you had is “original plain” there is a glazed version of that at some locations, the glazed plain one was actually a “honey dip”, my kids love those but they’re whack for an adult palette lol sprinkle is “birthday”, chocolate is “chocolate” The remaining doughnuts we have now are still great, the honey cruller, sour cream, and toasted coconut are my faves. My go to lunch was always a chilli with a large bun buttered, with a medium iced cap and a honey cruller. Love the Canadian series Ben! Can’t wait to see what else you do here.

Double double is just filter coffee with 2 shots of cream and 2 of sugar. To keep the same ratio of black coffee to cream/sugar, the cream and sugar dispensers have a button for each cup sizes. Tim Hortons is no longer fully “Canadian” anymore. Since about a decade ago, it’s now a Canadian-American company with its majority shareholder based in Brazil. Thus, its presence in other countries. It used to be exclusive to Canada before it was bought out. As a number of people have indicated, the food used to be better. I agree. I noticed the decline in the food quality since the change in ownership. My sister works for Nestle and her husband used to as well and they said that the chilli was supplied by Nestle Canada. Nestle Canada also supplied the hot chocolate sold in the large canisters. However, since the change in ownership, we’re not sure if they still do supply for them or if they’ve changed most or all of their suppliers. I prefer McDonald’s coffee way more. I find that Timmy’s coffee is very acidic. When you drink it black instead of adding sugar and cream, you could taste the acidity. Even their ‘slow-roasted’ coffee tastes acidic. BTW…Drinking coffee black is the best way to test coffee out at an unfamiliar place for the first time. I guess you can consider me a quality snob since members of my family are in the food industry. Needless to say, we generally don’t like the food and drinks at Timmy’s with the exception of a few select donut flavours.

The food is actually not that bad, the portions and quality are pretty good for the price. The coffee and donuts are supremely mid though.
@wctoronto2 ай бұрын
@CockroachMunchingKrabbyPatty I didn’t say it’s all bad, but that it has generally declined since after the change in ownership. I would rate the sandwiches at about 4/10 (cold food), chilli higher at about 7.5/10 (hot food), coffee at 5/10, and my preferred donuts at 8/10 (if I exclude the ones I don’t like to give them a higher average just to be nice - Otherwise, I would rate it a 6.5 on avg). This averages out to about 6.1/10 for me. Taste is subjective so everyone has their own standards and opinions. I’m curious how you would rate them…

@@Nabee_H Which menu item are you referring to? According to my family members, Tim Hortons had DIFFERENT suppliers for different menu items. Nestle Canada used to supply only a few menu items to their client, not everything. If you’re referring to the coffee specifically, McDonald’s coffee blend is totally different from Tim Hortons. You can even taste the huge difference. Suppliers are just one piece of the process not the entirety. You could have the same supplier but if the coffee beans are roasted differently and how the coffee is prepared by the stores are different, it can produce drastically different results. Plus, it is public knowledge that Tim Hortons did NOT sell its coffee blend/recipe and its supplier to McDonald’s anyway. This is a MYTH. Who/What is your source? I’m curious. Yahoo Finance released a story to debunk this myth by interviewing Tim Hortons’ CEO. The article was last updated on Sep 27, 2019. Here’s an excerpt from it: Tim Hortons wants you to know that it did not sell any aspect of its closely-guarded coffee recipe - including its supplier, blends and beans - to its competitor, McDonald’s. “I don’t know why this story originated, or how it grew the way it did, but I can 100 per cent confirm that it is a myth,” Mike Hancock, Tim Hortons chief operating officer, said in an interview with Yahoo Finance Canada this week. In fact, he says, there are just three employees in the company that actually know the formula for blending and roasting the Tim Hortons coffee that goes into a double-double. “Our coffee recipe is the most valuable asset in the entire company,” Hancock said. “We have not sold or shared any part of our coffee business with any competitor.”

3 things as I noticed as a Canadian: 1. I'm so glad he didn't order the timmies pizza 2. Getting timmies through delivery has to be the most insane way to get it considering how that iced capp looked 3. The farmer's wraps back then used to be both bigger and better quality Also not food related, but timmies has some of the most underrated apparel merch ever. Lots of people know about the timmies x justin bieber collab, but their Always Fresh apparel line is genuinely something I wear in public on the regular

I used to work at tims around 10 years ago in quebec. Just some fact for for what you presented : -a double/double is a straigth brewed coffee with 2 cream and 2 sugar. Thing is tims cream is 18% fat compared to regular 10% normally used in coffee shop around here. -as for ice capp, the default choice is with cream, and it doesnt split like the milk one you had so no need to mix. (Also use 18% cream). -there used to be apple fritter with caramel filling (they were the best) but unfortunately they removed it. If i had one donut to recommend it qould be either the cruller or the boston cream. Personnal favorite, and most popular ones too. Disclaimer, this might have changed in someway since i havent worked there for over 10 years, but îm still pretty sure îm right.

I will say Tim Horton’s food and coffee used to be soooo much better. But their donuts are the best donuts I’ve ever had, I’ve yet to try anything better. Also, if you order a double-double in person or drive thru, it’s just a regular coffee, and then two creamers and two sugars. We have buttons on the machine that dispense the correct amount depending on the size you order!
@Win7ermu7e2 ай бұрын
The fact that people order double double is a testament to how terrrible and burned TH coffee is all the time. I cannot believe how many fall into the hype and wait in line or at a huge drive in line when you can get better coffee at the gas station across the street. And no it doesn't make you more Canadian to waste your time in a TH line up despite their commercials.

tims heart died years ago when they stopped making donuts in house. i miss those days. also too bad tims changed the coffee if you want tims coffee you need to goto mcdonalds now.

Honey dip donut is a classic. You can ask for your coffee with whatever you want in it. If you order medium double double it means a medium with 2 sugar 2 cream. If you want milk instead, medium 2 milk 2 sugar. Their muffins are great too.

the sauce in the Farmers Wrap is Chipotle Mayo. it's fire. i wish they sold it in stores. also, yeah it's still a double double. at any size. "double double" just refers to the double cream, double sugar. the size can be whatever you want... that they offer

if you look up Tim Horton's history, it actually started out as a burger joint and gradually over the years made the shift to what it is today.

I'm at the part where you question the "Double double" so yes if you got a large and got two cream, two sugar it would still be called a "double double" (which is probably the most commonly used order) - you can also get an extra large triple triple:) they'll understand lol I grew up ordering a "Large Double Double" so I can only imagine a small tasting VERY sweet and sugary😅 glad you still enjoyed~
@dantebigplume60502 ай бұрын
6:13 If you walk into a Tims and ask for (size) double double, that's what you get. The double double is just a term Tims coined for a the specific order of two cream and two sugar added to your coffee. And the machines they use automatically measure out the right amount of cream and sugar depending on the size ordered. The only real difference is if you want it regular or dark roast lol

@AliKhan-cj3eeАй бұрын
Double double is usually just their regular brew and people usally get a medium with 2 cream and 2 sugar. And the Iced capp, is typically just the "base model" no need to add or modify anything. I applaud the effort though bro

The coffee itself isn't what most people rave about. Coffee's coffee, for the most part... it's how it tastes after you add that 'heavy cream'. It's an 18% I think.😊 Apple fritters are my goto doughnut, when I decide have a doughnut. Used to be the chocolate walnut crunch, till they stopped making them (much to my dismay..same with the onion bagels. I miss them too.)
@timcarder21702 ай бұрын
They brought the walnut crunch back, as a "for a limited time only" nostalgia item, for more than it would normally cost (was same price as the fritters..which they used to have a banana fritter too) And just a little over half the size it used to be. Ever since it was bought by wendy's in 1996 (and they put it on the Toronto stock exchange), they started f@cking around with the menu...even changing the coffee used. Then sold it to burger king.. who then proceeded to mess with the content and quality of the menu even more ever since.

The farmers wrap is so dope and the turkey bacon club with no mayo put some bbq sauce on that and you'll never be upset. Regarding the coffee. Ordering a double double will hit 7 out of 10 times
@djmc38152 ай бұрын
A turkey Club from anywhere would not normally have cheese. A Turkey club is bacon, Lettuce tomato, turkey, mayo. In sandwhich form often three pieces of toasted bread. A BLT is similar but two pices of bread; no turkey (and no cheese)
