Thanks for your video. Very useful for setting up my Tobii Eye Tracker 5. I didn't know how to do it, even if I tried some settings but without results. In fact, I didn't realize that eye tracking could be turned off. Thanks again.

Looks pretty awesome. Can you lean forward and backwards, too?
@ParanoimiaUK3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can! It is game dependent, but in ATS and ETS2 you can look left/right and up/down, lean forward/back, and even tilt your head left/right. Check out this short video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaDXgIGQi5h-ndk

Hello, nice video, but a dumb question, I get this is for the Eye Tracker 5 version, but I got the 4C version, I'm wondering if there's much difference between the two? P.S.- I'm pretty new to all the eye tracker stuff.
@ParanoimiaUK2 жыл бұрын
According to the Tobii website, the 5 is more accurate and has a lower latency than the 4C. help.tobii.com/hc/en-us/articles/360008539058-What-s-the-difference-between-Tobii-Eye-Tracker-4C-and-5- That said, I personally couldn't advise you whether the 5 is noticeably better than the 4C in practice, as the 5 is the only model I've owned.

So ik it is an eye tracker but do you still have to move your head...because I have a 24 inch monitor and I dont think it is big enough for it. So do you still have to move your head for it to work
@ParanoimiaUK3 жыл бұрын
It does track head movement; these settings basically disable eye tracking and rely on head tracking alone, as I found it far too sensitive with eye tracking enabled. You shouldn't have any problems on a 24 inch monitor as that's what I play on, and the settings shown work well - they give you a bit of a dead zone so that not every slight movement swings the camera, but the multipliers are just high enough that you can look left and right just by looking towards the edge of the screen. Of course, you can always use these settings as a starting point and adjust to your own preferences.

@@ParanoimiaUK another question.. do you have to be close to the monitor/eye tracker because my steering wheel setup is about 4 and a half feet from my monitor
@ParanoimiaUK3 жыл бұрын
@@jacob8867 According to their FAQ page, it will work up to about 37 inches.

@@ParanoimiaUK do you know other (Driving not racing) games that work with tobii tracker? If so, please let me know. The other games I would like to use tobii tracker for is Crew 2 or Forza but I haven't seen a KZbin video saying it works.

@@ParanoimiaUK Ty for the reports but unfortunately the settings just don't work for me. The camera swing is way to fast but I don't think the tracker is picking my head up 100% due to my wheel getting in the way at the bottom of my monitor. Not really sure. You can check the price on Amazon US (Amazon Canada only seem to have the older 4C at the moment), or buy direct from Tobii in Sweden on their website: gaming.tobii.com

Does the tobii get affected by sunlight? As the window behind me makes my trackir useless.
@ParanoimiaUK2 жыл бұрын
Not that I've ever experienced. I suppose it might if you have strong sunlight falling directly onto the sensors, as they use near-IR light reflected off of your eyes to track eye movements. My setup has my screen (and therefore the Tobii) at 90 degrees to the window, and I've never had any problems, even on bright sunny days.
@starvr2 жыл бұрын
@@ParanoimiaUK Thanks for the quick reply. There will be no light directly on the device. My trackir points towards my seat and the window is about a meter behind me. Thanks again, subbed and like the video.

Can u look out the window to reverse? The whole point of head eye tracking is emersion. Y didn't u reverse using mirrors or looking back out the window?
@ParanoimiaUK3 жыл бұрын
You can look backwards, but you need to set the sensitivity quite a bit higher to turn the view around 180 degrees, which then gives you too much motion in normal driving on a normal monitor. I personally don't use the eye tracker for its immersion, I use it so I can look left/right easier at junctions. Complete immersion isn't high on my list; I don't even use a wheel - I drive with a DualShock 4. I didn't use the mirrors to reverse because (1) I suck at it, and (2) I like to occasionally look at the truck I'm driving... otherwise, what's the point in customising paint jobs/wheels/accessories?
@stevebee28653 жыл бұрын
@@ParanoimiaUK I'm the opposite bud. I don't customise my trucks too much. I only look at them at the start of a haul and at the end. I use a wheel and stick. I've been considering purchasing the eye track 5 or the trackir. If I can configure it to look out the windows for reversing the tobii wins. Thanks for the help 👍
@ParanoimiaUK3 жыл бұрын
@@stevebee2865 You can definitely increase the amount your in-game head turns. If you look at the settings screens shown at the start of the video, the settings you'll want to increase are on the third settings screen, "Head tracking ratio" and "Head tracking exponent". As you increase those, your in-game head will turn _much_ quicker in response to how much you move your head in the real world, to the point where moving your head to look at the edge of the screen will rotate your in-game head 180 degrees, so you'll be looking straight back down the side of your cab.
