Very nice presentation. The only minor issues I saw were US Army helmets with swivel loops (late war) instead of early war “fixed loops”. I think the Carolina maneuvers soldier might have been given blue practice grenades instead of yellow, high explosive ones. Also, the US Marine is using a 3rd pattern (later war) “dog eared” canteen cover. Nevertheless, an excellent representation of the variety of uniforms and field equipment.

I was also surprised by those inaccuracies.

Yeah I noticed the helmets were all swivel bale. The early war helmets were fixed bale, front seam with the first pattern hawley fiber liners

The 1943 uniform is what US soldiers also wore in Britain too, Those GIs departing from New York City were heading to places like London or anywhere in the UK were training for the D Day invasion.

I'm hoping on one of these that they sow what a radio operator is hauling. We still had tube sets in the 70s and they were huge.

Very nice display of different uniforms at different timeframes of the war. There are a few inaccuracies though, some small and some large. NC Maneuvers/ AAA battalion: - latter style m3a1 gas mask bag 23rd ID Guadalcanal: - late war HBT trousers when they should be the early 1st pattern style - late war helmet with swivel bales and high pressure liner when it should be a fixed bale helmet and hawley liner. - NCO stripe on the back of the helmet. This was mainly an ETO thing and wasn't practiced at all this early in the war, same with the chinstraps behind the helmet. Bougainville Raider: - at this point many raiders had the issued camouflaged helmet covers. - 3rd pattern crossflap canteen cover was a very late war thing and most never made it to the PTO - leggings were ditched almost immediately by marine and the army alike in the pacific as they were hot and kept the feet from drying. With all this being said I'm still impressed and thoroughly enjoyed the video, keep up the good work!

It is a bit of a shame the Philippine Scouts (the elite of the colonial Philippine Army in the opening days of the Second World War) were not represented in this video. Yes, Filipinos weren't Americans, but the Philippines was an American colony, therefore this video should have had someone (ideally a Filipino American) dressed up accordingly.

Pretty good but a few minor issues. Sailor 1941 has a blue dixie cap. This color was only worn towards the later part of the war. Philipine major. In 1941 on the lapels were worn the US insignia right side and branch insignia left side. Rank insignia was worn on epaulets. Changed to your configuration in 1942. 121ST AAA shoulder insignia should not be USAAF. but Western Defense Command. Otherwise very interesting.

The U.S. Army Officer Philippines - 1941 is wearing his rank insignia on his collar. This standard was not authorized until May 1942. His rank should be on his epaulets and an U.S. insignia on his collar.

3:05 i never understood what the purpose was of that chinstrap above the chin in stead of below the chin. Anyone knows the answer...?
@stevendellucci45842 жыл бұрын
When a high explosive round went off near you,with the chin strap above the chin just the helmet would blow off,below the chin it could take your head with it.
