What are the American suburbs? A suburb is a mixed-use or residential area, existing either as part of a city or urban area or as a separate residential community within commuting distance of a city.
A suburb is a residential district located on the outskirts of a city. If you live in the suburbs, you probably travel to the city for work. Suburb comes from Latin: sub means "below or near" and Urbis means "city." You also will recognize this root in urban. Factors that make a suburb stand out can vary depending on a person's interests. Perks like affordable homes, good public schools, and low crime rates can make a location desirable. But with so many options and factors to weigh, it can be challenging to filter out the right suburb for you.
The suburb was declared the best place to live in America by a national magazine in 2015. In the United States and Canada, suburb can refer either to an outlying residential area of a city or town or to a separate municipality or unincorporated area outside a town or city. Thank you.

I live in a community very much like this, except the houses are mostly brick and not cheap aluminum siding. Suburban life is NOT boring, it is quiet. Most of us have fireplaces or fire pits outdoors, cozy outdoor kitchens, and either built in or above ground swimming pools. It IS the American dream--much quieter and cleaner than city life. Sure, there is not much public transportation, and we rely on private automobiles to get around, but there are a lot of wooded, grassy places to walk your dog, parks, and it is extremely safe (no crime). I call this a great trade off for city living which is high crime and high pollution! And if you want to go to the theater or sporting event, its a short ride into the city. Come and visit: we would love to have you!

Not really you are totally car dependent which negatively affects relationships, health due to an lack of walking,children development because they interact with their surroundings way less, suburban areas don’t generate enough tax revenue to pay for infrastructure in the long run and usually don’t have public transportation.

I really hope the gas prices will not rise too much, it will be the death of suburbs like these, built for and only livable with cars. The distance it takes to walk from a house on one street to another is kinda the distance I walk to arrive at virtually every shop and/or restaurant in the city I live in (Netherlands). It actually feels a bit depressing. Love the house styles tho

I've lived in London all my life, and i am now completely sick and tired of it. I now just view London as noisy, polluted and overcrowded. These types of videos make me feel happy, they make me feel that i could breathe again if i lived there. It might not be for everyone, but i am now 47 and looking for a drastic change in my life. The suburbs in America have that charm about them, i imagine all the neighbours make Pumpkin pie and sell Soda on the street corners, lol. HOW NAIVE, but watching these videos, i am warming to the idea of emigrating there, before i ripen too much here in London.

This is typically what I think of when I think of American suburbia. Seems like a wonderful place to live in. I'm mostly an introverted person anyway, I don't really need to go out all that much to have fun. I wonder how the relationship between neighbors are in a place like this.

@Jpallen1

Typical relationships are suburban Americans drive home from work, pull into their garage, go inside, watch TV, eat, go to sleep, wake up, pull out of their garage and drive somewhere, maybe wave at a neighbor if they happen to leave at the same time. A few will go outside to jog, run, or walk a dog. That's about it. The yards are purely for show and/or resale value ('curb appeal'), not for actual use or enjoyment.

It's a newly constructed neighborhood . The grass comes up in one season but it takes about 8 years before a tree will really start to grow in height; another 20 before it looks established and fully mature. In order to start building big houses like these, builders like to clear the land of scrub trees to get their big equipment in to dig foundations. Afterward, the individual properties will be landscape by owners, and the trees from garden centers where they will go to buy them, are expensive. The municipality will plant trees along the edge of the street and actually, the land next to the edge of the street is usually owned by the municipality, not the home owner, but the home owner is responsible for mowing it and taking care of it. Home owners have to spend a lot of time taking care of their properties. It's very expensive hiring a landscaping company to come and do it for you. If you live where it snows, you have to deal with snow clearing in the winter, at your expense.

Hello dear friend, I just joined this channel and the video was beautiful. The houses are placed at a distance from each other and in a certain order, and there is a beautiful green space in front of each house. I wish for clean houses like this. I live in Iran and home is here. They are stuck together and instead of green spaces, the walls are stretched like a fence that takes one's breath away. But I have bought a farm for myself, where you live with my wife and we share our daily life.

Some Fences would also be nice, but the neighborhood committee probably wont allow it. Maybe some bike lanes? Nah there are probably regulations keeping that from happening. Public transit connection would also be cool as this suburb is probably like 3 hours from downtown and i don’t wanna sit in that peak American rush hour. Oh? Yeah i forgot automobile lobbies bought out and destroyed all train connection and these houses are too far apart for bus lines. Ok then, some close by amenities would also be appreciated but prob to much to ask. Oh? The nearest Walmart is a 50 min drive? Ok then ill just get in my freedom car and drive there and stuff my car full of chemical food. Then wonder how i got so fat. Idk i’m Dutch maybe my standards are too high. If i ever lived in the US it would be either New York, or some rando farm in Oklahoma. You wouldn’t catch me dead in a sub-urban place like this.

It is beautiful,in my last visit to USA i went to those hoods, Stony Point, NY, Hazelton,PA, some in New Jersey, the thing is that those places are isolated and i had a feeling to be alone wheb walking, you dont see anyone walking, it is very dependant of the car, in that is in the day, imagine on night!

People generally only walk on sidewalks in towns and cities unless its an older development. In suburban areas you typically need a car to go to the market or mall. the builders normally don't bother with sidewalks. There may be a small park or or playground area ...and people run..walk and ride bikes in the street

i know these houses aren't the best for the economy but I have always wanted this type of life. One where I would have a mom and dad who are both there and aren't abusive. Where money wouldn't be so tight, and I could just relax and be inside a nice house when it rains. Idk if my brain think it's the normal life and that's why I want it, maybe it's connected to my life not being normal at all. I want this and I will try to get this, even if its almost impossible.

I would have loved to have lived in a place like this, where I could play on the street, where there are trees, and green grass, a good community and being able to meet your friends whenever you want in a safe city, a nice garden, a garage, and space. I live in a poor city where on the street you can not play as there are many cars and many people and crime. We can't bale money and I've never had a console to play with my friends, my house is very very small and when I see these neighborhoods, I would have loved to have lived in a place like this, where I could play on the street, where there are trees, and green grass, a good community and being able to meet your friends whenever you want in a safe city, a nice garden, a garage, and space.
