American volunteers enter the Mangandi neighborhood of El Progreso to build a school. They walk the streets, meet characters and entrepreneurs, and taste churros, exotic fruits, tamalitos, chocobananos, chili lime, candinga baleadas and pig's head baleadas. As we toured the area, we cut the ribbon with all the children to begin the school project.
Volunteers from the University of Michigan and California are helping us with the construction of classrooms in Mangandi since for two years the students have been studying under a tree.
