I love Mr Rockwell's works, just so beautiful and it captures the spirit of the people and the times, just magical and the fact that Mr Lucas was a fan of his and was inspired by him is just more special.

I see one small mistake in the Lindbergh Pioneer painting, the Spirit of St. Louis aircraft behind the lindbergh profile shows an aircraft with a front windshield, "Spirit" had no front winshield, because it was removed for an added gas tank, so Lindbergh Took off and flew to Paris looking out the side windoows!

I just listen to this very pleasant presentation of a genius both as illustrator and fun art. He still makes us laugh 😆 with the expressions of faces and life situations he illustrated

It’s apt that he’s popular with directors as his art was informed by the cinema of his day. Nothing exists in a bubble and Rockwell and the silver screen influenced each other. Very evocative of an era long gone

“Even though everyone disagreed with him, no on shouted him down. They let him have his say.” I wish to God that was the norm nowadays. Now it seems like regardless of belief everybody’s trying to shout everybody down.

The 'Happy Birthday Miss Jones' picture reminds me of the Jennifer Jones film 'Good Morning Miss Dove'...........Both portray teachers who inspired the very best in their pupils, who gave up dreams of marriage and children of their own to foster all that is best in growing minds.

Just a note: at 20:25. The Air Medal was awarded to every air crewman after successfully completing anywhere from 5 to 8 or more, (especially if you were a fighter pilot) credited combat missions. A ribbon with one oak leaf cluster indicates two awards and that he flew no less than 10 missions. The other ribbon indicates he participated in the ETO (The European, Africa and the Mediterranean Theaters) for three combat campaigns. The Army Air Force patch on the bag shows he flew in the 15th AAF in Africa, Italy and Southern Europe.

My late husband and I had been searching for the autobiography of Norman Rockwell in the late 1970's,never found it then. After he had passed away for some time,I was directed to a bookshop, and there it was....right in front of me. Still cherish it,all the works are so recognisable, and full of humor. Thanks for sharing.

I disagree . His four freedoms and golden rule are serious for me , his art is storytelling and that’s better than now

Surely more than illustrator. his way w/ light, artificial or natural, is almost too good for his place among artists .the Pollack thing is too school for school. especially for that time.
