Having been a slots-only player for years, I decided to learn video poker in December 2018. I find that I have more fun, and lose less money, with video poker. Your videos have contributed quite a bit to my video poker education. I have learned four games so far, but Jacks or Better is my go-to game. Last week I hit my first Royal Flush while playing Jacks or Better; and did a repeat the next night. Couldn’t ask for a better way to end the year. Thanks, Linda.

I very rarely play that game becuase it is usually offered with bad pay tables. If you can find the game wih good pay tables, it's a good game to play because the Super Times adds extra value (about .25%) to the overall payback percentage. The bad part is that it also increases the volatility of the game.

Maybe I dont play enough, but my issue with JoB is unless you hit a Royal it seems like it's very difficult to win. But since this video most if not all 9/6 games have disappeared from the east coast and the Vegas strip so maybe that's impacting my experience. Even at a 98% RTP I seem to consistently lose...I'm compounding that by not holding hands I now know I should like three under to a straight flush, and inside straights. So I guess the answer is try again playing 100% correctly and see if that impacts the experience.

+americancasinoguide In this video, they talk about variance (low), what are the units of this variance? Dollars? Number of quarters per 100 plays? Also, is this the same variance as in statistics? thx.
@TheJackpotGents9 жыл бұрын
+cylurian I gave your question to Linda Boyd, who is in the video, and here's hat she said: Variance, like Expected Return (ER), has nothing to do with the size of your wager. Variance represents the likelihood that short term results will resemble the game's ER, assuming accurate holds. The higher the variance the greater the likelihood that your session results will fall on the high or low side of the bell-shaped curve. That's why you may want to go down a denomination from your normal bet if you've selected a high variance game and one of your objectives is a long playing session. 9/6 Jacks or Better (JOB) is an example of a low variance game and 9/6 Double Double Bonus (DDB) is an example of a high variance game. Notice that 9/6 JOB returns 10 coins for two pair, a relatively frequent hand, while 9/6DDB returns your wager. In DDB games you must rely on 4 of a kinds (4OAKs), an infrequent hand, to achieve the game's ER and a failure to do so absent other infrequent high return hands will go through much bankroll. ( 4OAKs occur approximately once every 400 hands, depending on the game, due to strategy variations. If you play 800 hands per hour you should get around two 4OAKs per hour. In addition, DDB games give more for special 4OAKs, say 4 Aces with a kicker, making it more of a crap shoot.) Keep in mind that the variance is an entirely separate entity from ER or expected return. You can have a high variance game with either a high or low ER and the same is true for low variance games. For example, 7/5 JOB is low variance but also low ER and, therefore, unacceptable. I've done much writing on this poorly understood topic and will keep this short. If you come across a game in a casino that only pays even money for two pair but highly rewards infrequent hands, say a sequential Royal Flush, you should expect a high variance. This is probably a poor choice if you don't know the game's ER, variance and game strategy. Also, if one objective is to earn many promo entries or cash, say multiple point days, select a low variance game, given the same ER.

What is the house edge if you bet the 1x (Where royal flush pays 250) instead of 5x (where royal flush pays 4000)
@TheJackpotGents7 жыл бұрын
On a 9/6 Jacks or Better game with a 4,000-coin royal for betting five coins, the payback is 99.54%. If you reduce the royal to only 1,250 coins (250 x 5 coins bet = 1,250) then the payback is reduced to 98.37%.

+Vincent hildebrand Do you not see how playing less than max coin changes the payback? Betting max coin will pay back 800x your bet if you hit the Royal Flush, but you will only get 250x your bet if you bet less than max coin. Clearly getting paid 800x your bet is better than getting only 250x your bet. This change in the payout for the Royal Flush will change the overall payback of the game itself, it has nothing to do with how much a player is betting so much as what the payback is, that is what the pay schedule is. You have to understand that the pay schedule itself changes when max coin is played, it gives a "bonus" for the Royal Flush, something which is not paid when the player is NOT playing max coin. And this is why the player should ALWAYS play max coin on a VP machine which has a "bonus" for hitting the Royal Flush, it increases the overall payback for the game. And if you haven't heard, let me tell you that you cannot "beat," that is win at video poker in the long run, without hitting the Royal Flush. And when you reduce the payout for the Royal Flush by not playing max coin you are effectively handicapping yourself and making it practically impossible to win at all. If you still cannot get it, I will spell it out for you. Look at the pay table: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 25, 50, 250. Now, multiply across for each additional coin, up to 4 coins, and you'll see it's a straight multiplier, that is all the values in the pay table are simply a multiple of what is listed for a single coin bet, 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 18, 50, 100, 500. The same goes for the other coins(3 or 4) bet. But for 5 coins you'll see it has one small(or should I say big?) but very significant difference, that is the payout for the Royal Flush. 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 45, 125, 250, 4000. Divide all the numbers by 5 and you'll get 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 25, 50, 800, which is not the same as the pay table for 1 coin. Again, the 800x payback for the Royal Flush confers a "bonus" to the player, a 550 bet bonus(250 + 550 = 800. I say bet because the number actually represents a multiple of your bet paid back and not coins paid) which changes the overall payback for the game itself. I do not know the exact figure, but what "americancasinoguide" states above does sound accurate.

@kadad110 жыл бұрын
She talks about comps and those are based on the amount you play on your slot card. Everyone has a slot card whether they play VP or slots.The fact is that VP players have to run at least twice as much money through the machines as slot players do.

I still don't know why someone would play JoB vs. Double Double Bonus. Can someone explain?
@TheJackpotGents8 жыл бұрын
+Steven Katz Double Double Bonus is a very volatile game compared to Jacks or Better. You need a much bigger bankroll to withstand the large swings. If you don't get some of those rare hands that pay a lot, you will lose a lot of money!
@stevenkatz16658 жыл бұрын
Yeah, no kidding, tell me about it. I just get so irked when my 4 of a kind -- any 4 of a kind -- pays just 32.50.
@mrchordstriker6 жыл бұрын
Steven Katz job has a different focus from double doubles and such. You want to keep aces to win the high jackpots. You give up less winning hands to do this. It creates long losing periods before wins happen. If you want volume of winning hands per thousand, avoid deuces wild too. Tens or better has ten per cent more winning hands than jacks or better, which is better than double bonus, because you give up hands looking for four aces. Count on a piece of paper what type of winning hand was won, and count how many games. Or use a phone app for that like I do. It's very truth revealing to see how many winning hands per thousand each game type nets you. Personally I prefer volume of winning hands but each to their own. Why games won per thousand is never discussed is curious to me.
@TheJackpotGents6 жыл бұрын
I would agree that you will have more winning hands with tens or better. However, the problem is that it is not a common video poker game and it is hard to find. Also, the mathematical return for any game can be calculated and tens or better games have a 6/5 pay table, which is 6-for-1 on a full house and 5-for-1 on a flush. That lowers the overall payback percentage to 97.96% if 4-of-a-kinds pay 20, which is the usual case. Even if 4-of-a-kinds pay 25, which is hard to find, that only brings the return up to 99.14%, which is slightly below the 99.17% return on bonus poker.
@scottmiller64954 жыл бұрын
Yes I can explain because these people are ignorant and it's rediculous. In Atlantic City casinos they have many Jokers Wild Video Poker machines that put all the other machines to shame! Nobody ever talks about these great games and it's stupid! Imagine if you had 13 ways to win instead of four ways wouldn't it make sense to play that game instead? That's the beauty of Jokers wild machines but you have to make sure that the paytable is 8/5 and the top hand is 5 of a kind and pays 4000 coins for the Jackpot Not Royal Flush!!!!! Jack's or better or any of these other versions of video poker don't pay as well and they really aren't good at all! Also any straight flush or royal flush with or without the joker pays 500 coins instead of that awful 250 coins that those other machines pay! Plus the joker can be used for any card you need to give you a winning hand, now how can you beat that??? I want someone anyone to admit that I am right and agree with me or atleast thank me for this very Useful information!!!!! Plus I can prove everything I just said!

I am not sure why in the case you are dealt three high unsuited cards, you keep the LOWEST two. I don't readily see the difference here. Please explain..
@TheJackpotGents9 жыл бұрын
+Ryan Bear If you are dealt: jack, queen, ace, you would just keep the jack and queen because you will get more straights. If you keep all three, you can only get one straight: 10-J-Q-K-A. If you just keep J-Q, you are also able to get lower straights, such as 8-9-10-J-Q and 9-10-J-Q-K, as well as 10-J-Q-K-A.
@raymondjohn28789 жыл бұрын
+Ryan Bear ACG is correct regarding the potential straight draw.However, you keep the JQ and not the Ace because you now have three opportunities to draw a single J or Q and get a high pair. Which cards you keep from the deal are based on the probabilities of all potential winning hands along with those hands payout. Keeping just the JQ & not the Ace gives the potential for 4Js, 4Qs, straights not including the Ace, and Full House. If you were to keep the AJQ, these hands are not a possible draw hand. In addition, 4 of a kind and full houses are the 3rd & 4th highest paying hands in JoB under the Royal & Straight Flush.
@ryanbear78029 жыл бұрын
thanks americancasinoguide and Raymond John . I guess I was thinking more along the lines of why not A-J or A-Q? The only reason why I see now from both your responses is because of the straight draw being that Q-K-A-2-3 would not qualify? Second question: what if I am dealt J-K-A? Do i still hold the J-K even though K-A are runners?
@TheJackpotGents9 жыл бұрын
+Ryan Bear Q-K-A-2-3 is not a straight. If dealt J-K-A, you would just keep the jack and king. However, if they were all of the same suit, then you would keep all three.

@TheJackpotGents10 жыл бұрын
Most casino jurisdictions will not offer 9/6 Jacks or Better because it is a very good game for the player and it has a theoretical return of 99.5% when played with a maximum coin bet and perfect strategy. For each one coin reduction in the paytable for a full house and flush you can deduct 1.1% from the expected payback percentage. Therefore, the 8/5 version returns approximately 2.2% less, or about 97.3% If that is the best game you can find in the casino, then that is probably the best game for you because there is nothing better to play.

americancasinoguide For clarification, 9/6 JoB pays 99.54% Expected Value (EV) when played optimally with the MAX BET. This is true for all Video Poker. In order to achieve the highest EV you must take advantage of the bonus the Max Bet provides on the remote probability of the Royal Flush. Notice that with all winning hands the pay table is a multiple of each coin bet except in the case of the Royal Flush. The winning hand Jacks or Better pays 1 for 1; 2 for 2; 3 for 3; 4 for 4; and 5 for 5 respectively. All other winning hands are multiples of the "coins" or "denomination" wagered. However, the Royal Flush pays 250 for 1; 500 for 2; 750 for 3; 1000 for 4; but 4000 for 5. This is a significant factor in the calculation of the EV for any Video Poker game and also contributes/drives the optimal strategy for those games.

is there a such thing as a professional video slot machine player? I've played regular slots (Aristocrat only) with a very successful result due to knowing the algorithm that the machines use and knowing that there is a special "code" that can be seen that will tell a prelude that the machine is about to payout a jackpot within about 60-100 spins. This strategy and method netted me 20k in monthly profits. For me, that is my Professional money. So, what's the most that has been reliably (on a regular monthly basis) won on video slots?

I totally disagree with this. I'm an experienced video poker player and the best game to play is Jokers Wild Machines. In Atlantic City especially at The Tropicana they have these machines in either nickel or mostly quarter and dollar machines. The paytable is 8/5 and you get 500 coins for any straight flush with or without the joker. But the jackpot is 5 of a kind and it pays 4000 coins for max bet.Anybody who knows better should know this is the best game to play, because there are 13 ways to win a five of a kind and there are only 4 ways to get a Royal Flush! So figure it out, I know what I'm talking about and its been proven, Period!!!!!

I don't believe that there are any 8/5 Joker Wild machines. Do you mean 8/5 Double Joker machines? Also, joker games are popular in Atlantic City, but pretty much nowhere else in the country. Jacks or better games are the most widely available games throughout the country.

@@TheJackpotGents Yes there are and they have many of these machines in Atlantic City casinos especially like the Tropicana, I know I play them regularly and although I don't win on a regular basis, I do ok most of the time and see many other people hit on these machines quite often.The I G T machines are an 8/5 paytable with 2 pair giving you your money back. Then it's 3 of a kind and up. Assuming you play the max coins which is usually 5 a straight pays 20, a flush pays 25, full house pays 40 coins, 4 of a kind pays 80 coins, any straight flush or any royal flush with or without the joker pays 500 coins and the jackpot is 5 of a kind which pays 4000 coins.In the Tropicana they have individual machines quarter and dollar machines Jokers Wild that have individual Progressive Jackpots that pay over 1000.00 for 25cent play and well over 4000.00 for dollar machines.They even still have the nickel 5 line jokers wild machines in an 8 machine bank that for 1.25 for five lines you can win 200.00 on any 1 line for 5 of a kind, if you are dealt a five of a kind you get the small jackpot of atleast 1000.00 and it keeps building, and if you get 5 Aces dealt which is the Big Jackpot then you get a minimum of 15000.00 which keep growing till someone hits it plus the other small jackpot so you can get both!!!! Now think about this I'm correct in what I'm saying, I was going there all the time until this virus shut them down, but I can prove everything I just told you it's absolutely true! Do I go to church and tell people to stop worshipping God? No. Your zealotry is only exceeded by your ignorance. If YOU lost all your money gambling it is because you were too stupid to analyze the games and find edges and you were too undisciplined to walk away when you lost. There are a lot of people who are making a living at a wide variety of gambling games.

Except now all Harrah's properties in Las Vegas have drastically increased the coin-in requirement of Jacks or Better from $10 to $25 to earn one tier credit. A big blow to video poker players. Let the executives at Caesar's Palace, Paris, Bally's, Planet Hollywood and elsewhere know what you think. This will likely spread to the rest of the country.

What does she mean by the word 'variance' here?
@TheJackpotGents8 жыл бұрын
High "variance" games are ones where there are high payoffs on rarer hands. Double Bonus and Double Double Bonus would be good examples of high variance games. On those games you get big payoffs for four of a kinds, and even bigger payoffs for four aces. The problem is that you don't get those hands very often. That means if you get them you will do very well, if you don't get them then you will do very poorly. There will be a big variance in your playing sessions and it will be like a roller coaster ride with many highs and lows. Some people like this and some people don't. It is something you should consider when deciding what game you want to play. Jacks or better video poker is a low variance game.

Thanks a lot. It is very helpful :)
@TheJackpotGents8 жыл бұрын
You are welcome. I should also mention one other consideration with high variance games, and that is how it affects your your bankroll. You really should have a bigger bankroll when playing high variance games. That is because you may go a long time without hitting a high-paying hand and you might lose your entire bankroll. With low variance games, such as 9/6 jacks or better, the ride is much smoother and your bankroll can be smaller. We have an article on our site about this subject - www.americancasinoguide.com/video-poker/how-to-calculate-a-video-poker-bankroll.html

Here is Linda's definition of variance in video poker: The variance refers to the likelihood that short-term expectations will vary or differ from long-term results. The higher the variance, the greater the probability that there will be differences between long-term and short-term results. Games that carry a high variance are a bigger short term threat to your bankroll than low-variance games.

hman630 There are professional video poker players. However, you can't make a living at it by playing the regular games at your neighborhood casino. In most cases you would need to be able to take advantage of a particular promotion at a casino that is being too generous with its cashback program. Pro video poker players usually network with each other and once they find one of these casinos they all go there to take advantage of the opportunity. This means that they would need to travel to different casinos throughout the country rather than playing at just one casino. Additionally, since their mathematical edge is very small (probably less than 1%), they need to play for high stakes in order to be able to make a living at it. This means they need to have a very big bankroll to withstand the constant swings which will occur. Also, keep in mind that just because a player has a slight edge it doesn't mean that they will be a successful player. They could have a run of bad luck which could devastate their bankroll. Many people think that it is glamorous and fun to be a professional gambler. However, I know quite a few of them and I can honestly say that it's a very hard way to make an easy living.

The casino advantage on a double-zero roulette wheel is 5.26%. If you played 9/6 Jacks or Better video poker, you could also play for 25-cents a hand and you will face a lower-casino edge of about 2.5%. That is assuming that you know proper basic strategy.

If you can break even at any version of jacks or better (all the bonus games are), then tens or better is for you. Why? A pair of tens has value now. So you have more pairs, two pairs, 3 of a kind, straight and flushes happening. More winning hands. A whopping amount. Inch forward with tens, and get the phone app because it plays from a penny up past a hundred per chip!! Glhf!
@TheJackpotGents6 жыл бұрын
Even if 4-of-a-kinds pay 25, which is hard to find, that only brings the return up to 99.14%, which is slightly below the 99.17% return on bonus poker.

americancasinoguide thank you so much for answering. I worried you might think I was just some troll. Certainly what you aim for affects what hands you get, for example keeping aces in super double double. Double up is lucrative. A double of one chip, is like winning two pair. It helps overcome losses. This is an important concept to get ahead. Double a three of a kind, and you earned a higher hand, like a fh. If one can keep an equilibrium, winning bigger hands pushes you up, instead of helping you break even. Go figure that many casinos don't like tens or better. The sheer volume of winning hands, when mixed with up doubling, breaks free of the restrictive gameplay of the not so random algorithms that decide what cards to spit out. Which is far from random. I tell you, whatever I do to mess the algorithm's study of my choices, I end up with an inordinate proportion of four of a kinds and full houses etc. That is on top of the over fifty one per cent of winning hands I receive. I do it over and over for kicks. One can argue the cards are random, and I can counter point that I can trigger cards out of it. Hand winning is also reacting to ones balance. If they claim it is not cheating, why does my balance and bet affect what I get? What do they call the algorithm if not a cheater?? Flawed? Well, I have my finger on the flaws. So do casinos that do not offer tens or better. Just relaying my own experiences. Thanks for your time and answers.
@TheJackpotGents6 жыл бұрын
In the U.S. the video poker machines don't care how much you bet. The RNG that controls the random dealing of the cards is not influenced by how much you bet, onr if you use your players club card. It just creates random number combinations to deal the cards out. The overall payback percentage on any video poker machine is controlled by the paytable. The better the paytable, the better the payback percentage. I know many advantage video poker players who have gambled for 25 or more years and they never have a problem trusting the randomness of video poker games in the U.S.
@mrchordstriker6 жыл бұрын
americancasinoguide that's interesting, and again thanks for taking me genuinely, I am not trolling you. I am provoked by this though, and I think you are in the same boat as I. I have studied computer rng for decades after I studied computer science. It is easy to believe something another expert rants. It is tough when they lie, and get caught. I continually upset the algorithms of the game, and I am now learning how to dry up the number of winning hands to less than par. I already can succeed in gaining over fifty one per cent number of winning hands. Tell me good sir, if it is random how am I able to both do this AND make this claim? You see, since I have awareness, I am not being silent. This is not trolling and again I appreciate you treating me genuinely about this as well. There is a lot at stake with my claim. Actually it goes deeper, into video poker, blackjack and even roulette. I am learning how to use these seeming oddities to my advantage, since they clearly exist. Since my first post, I have dealt tens of thousands more hands, with replicable results. How much I bet undeniably affects your wins. For me it is provable fact now, over and over. Some folks, way above you and me, have some serious explaining to do. Even the restricted 25 cent to dollar machines are a little vulnerable to me now. Now, it is just a matter of time before the world of people playing these rigged games, get answers. From the sounds of things that's includes you. Don't take it too hard, I have been of your opinion for years. Until recently my game play forced me to consider logic and reason, to the point I REALLY studied this stuff pen to paper myself. And with a deck of cards. That deck of cards revealed the biggest truth. What is that truth? Play a thousand hands from a deck you will see it plain as day I won't tell you the answer. Thank you for the discussion, Mr. Bourie. I do enjoy your videos I learned a bit from them.

If you think you have found some flaw in every single electronic game of chance then you should just keep that information to yourself and go make a fortune in the casinos. For me, however, I don't think that's possible. All of the chips in regulated jurisdictions in the U.S are tested for randomness and I don't think it's possible to find a flaw in the programming. It is my understanding, however, that if you know the seed point for the RNG it is possible to replicate the combinations that are being produced. There was an agent who worked for the Nevada Gaming Commission who did that and made a lot of money until he got caught when he tried to fix a keno game in Atlantic City. You can read about it here - www.americancasinoguide.com/slot-machines/the-worlds-greatest-slot-cheat.html Also, there have been articles about some Russian hackers who have been able to cheat slot machines by replicating the RNG. Just Google the term "Russian slot cheats" for more information. Keep in mind that in both of these instances they were cheating and not acting on some flaw in the machine

Jack or better is the worst game to play because even though 2 pair is frequent you still have cold runs. With 9/6 or 8/5 break even happens frequently what a bore no implied odd's for big payout and the cycle for quads is the same as a few other games. My best strategy to use is always speculation,but it involves multiple games 9/6, bonus deluxe and double bonus. It's the same reason you play max credits in order to get max pay based on the full amount,Deluxe pays 400 for 4 of a kind in deluxe wouldn't you rather hit that vs 125. Switching back to jacks or better for that +2 pair in the speculative cycle on 7.6 hands gives you ample opportunity to benefit from that payout multiple times while only hitting it occasionally on Deluxe and accepting break-even as just that. The other hands are still positive ev like flush,full house and straights and one neat trick is to find a game that pays 50 for full house with it's 99.6 hand cycle you can speculate in that range and if your lucky you hit and most likely it's just kings and zero loss for that speculation. If you not mixing it up your stuck in the game 9/6 is a stale game with no implied odds and as she said your just breaking even and getting comps.

this lasy has no idea what she is talking about, promo equity? lol she musta made that term up and saying the bankroll will last at jacks or better longer than other video poker is totally false. each machine has a payback % if the payback % is the same as double double bonus then your chances of winning are the same. if you want to earn conmp points faster then video poker is better than regular slots only because the paytable on video poker payback % is set higher than regular slots. it has nothing to do what game you play. please don't go by a so called expert telling you that the sky is bluer in vegas is bluer than the sky in arizona. its the same sky no matter where you are. and the slots are still slots there is no risk factor or risk factor from one video slot machine to the next that has the same payback %
@TheJackpotGents9 жыл бұрын
Dave Gol All of what Linda says is correct and you are the one who doesn't know what you are talking about. I suggest that you Google the term "video poker variance" and you will have a better understanding of what she is saying and why it is correct. Also, you are wrong about earning comp points faster by playing video poker rather than slots. You will actually earn them more slowly because in the vast majority of casinos they will require you to play more money through a video poker machine, as opposed to a slot machine to earn a slot club point. In many casinos you will be required to bet twice as much money on video poker to earn a point.
@davegol84649 жыл бұрын
americancasinoguide if you play a penny slot for 20 cents and a $1 video poker machine your going to earn points faster if the casino is giving out regular comps for video poker and about the same if its half. second why do you think casino's advertise that a machine has a 99% payout? its because the machine is going to pay out 99% not because if you play bad at video poker or if you think playing a system in video poker gives you an advantage it doesn.t. the games you play jacks otr better double double bonus, deuces wild, or any other video poker game the payout will still be 99% the coin in isn't the money you put in the machine its the money the machine has taken in. and coin out isn't what you cash out for its the money the machine has paid out. this determines if the machine is going to hit. if the machine has taken in 98% then it has to hit for the 1% it is behind if its 100% coinout then its over the amount its suppose to pay. you want to play the machines that paid out less than 99% cause it will get to the 99%level or higher sooner or later. 1% doesn't seem like much but if the machines total money in is 1.5 million dollars then 1% is equal to 15000
@TheJackpotGents9 жыл бұрын
Dave Gol You can't compare the amount of comp points you would earn on a machine if you are betting different amounts of money. You would need to compare the amount of points you earn for betting $1 on a slot machine, to the amount of points you would earn for betting the same $1 on a video poker machine. That is the only way you would get a true comparison. If you do that, you would see that in the vast majority of casinos you earn them more slowly because they will require you to play more money through a video poker machine, as opposed to a slot machine to earn one slot club point. In many casinos you will be required to bet twice as much money on video poker to earn a point.
@TheJackpotGents9 жыл бұрын
Dave Gol Your following statement - "if the machine has taken in 98% then it has to hit for the 1% it is behind if its 100% coinout then its over the amount its suppose to pay," is not correct. The machine works on a random basis and does not care what is has paid out. Some days it will pay out much more than it takes in, but most days it will pay out less. The 99% payback percentage is a long-term number and the more the machine is played, the closer its payback percentage will equal that 99% number.
@yellow61009 жыл бұрын
+Dave Gol Wow Dave you have no idea what youre saying . If 2 games have same payout but one gives you million dollars after million hands and other game gives you 1 $ per million hands you get same payout BUT if youre in casino for only 5000 hands youll get none of the million on the second game .Jacks is more like the second game in comparison to more volatile games.

When playing any video poker machine you also need to take into account the comps and the cashback you will earn. You can lose money on the game, but still come out ahead because of the cashback and comps. Both of those items do have value to a player and it is wrong to ignore them. It would be rare for someone to come out ahead on a slot machine even when taking comps and cashback into account. However, it can be done much more easily on video poker machines.
