jazz musicians in general are known for playing at the same or an even greater level than they did in their youth. if you are dedicated to your instrument, you wont ever regress due to age

When I was 14 going on 15 in high school, my music teacher, “The Bassman” played victor wooten for us. Changed my life. And I’m not a bassist. Was a guitarist, then singer songwriter, then dj for the past 22 years… now back to adding in my singing. Victor’s prowess opened me up to the possibilities of my career and musical capabilities. I went on to sing on stages around the world, impromptu, not planned. A lot of it stemmed from the creativity I absorbed from Wooten. I’m 40 now and I will never forget the first time my world turned on its musical head with the intro to Victor! This was great! ❤

I’m a life long metal head and recently I’ve also been getting into this jazz fusion stuff a little bit, thanks to learning Megadeth songs featuring Chris Poland, from “Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying?” It’s really opened my mind up a lot musically and I’ve improved so much, thanks to him, and this genre.

atheist's "unquestionable presence" is super sick if you havent heard it (im assuming you have) but yeah jazz is absolutely beautiful, my favorite jazz albums to show people are wayne shorter's "speak no evil" and "juju" and miles davis' "ESP" and "miles smiles". these albums have such an unconventional approach to melody and harmony but it sounds so otherworldly and beautiful and DARK like a lot of metal
