@uwotm85 жыл бұрын
William Walkup pretty sure people are taught only about how white people did slavery and nothing about how the British Empire were the first to abolish it. Then, sent Royal Navy ships to the Atlantic to intercept slave ships. Didn't just abolish it in the UK then sit back and let it continue worldwide. Now, I'm not sure whether I'm right or wrong here, but that seems like a good thing. It seems like nowadays people are more bothered about things that happened 2 centuries ago when there are estimates of upto 46 million slaves in the world today www.google.com/amp/s/theconversation.com/amp/fact-check-how-many-people-are-enslaved-in-the-world-today-107078

@mrsnakesmrnot84994 жыл бұрын
@Zeek Banistor - History isn't being fully taught. typically, it is "men's studies", and it's never about the women, minorities, or even all of the men. Many people aren't even taught about John Brown. The left sees how America can be improved, while the conservatives who fear change call the left names like libtard or commie. no, it was the left who gave women the right to vote by 1920. It was the left who made America great for working towards the abolition of slavery and segregation. The left has made our air much cleaner outside (Go visit a Chinese city burning coal if you want a reminder.) and inside. Smoke filled rooms are more than annoying. The lefty PROGRESSIVES are why we don't have lead in gasoline anymore which poisoned everyone to some degree until the 60's. You can actually catch a fish that you catch in Lake Erie once again. The left actually conserves our natural resources for future generations better than the Right. The left loves America, as it provides as many soldiers as the Right. The left wants the so-called values of America to be a REAL thing: equality and justice (no more lynching) for everyone - not just white dudes. Progressives are why we've progressed, and be honest - you have benefited from progress in more ways than you are willing to admit. Perhaps you should have learned more in school about that.

Now Malcolm X era isn’t too far back, and those same liberals have only continued the legacy of the liberal party of old times. With all that being said, I don’t care for politics because Jesus is the way, and He is in control, but if I was to vote, I’d always go republican, and shoot, I’m thinking I might just be voting this year.

@@menacingcar0449 First, the Emancipation Proclamation was issued after Gettysburg, not Antietam. Antietam was at best a Pyrrhic victory for the North. Lincoln needed a pure victory to issue the EP and Gettysburg was all of that. Second, the Civil war was fought to END SLAVERY, not this revisionist idea of "states Rights" which were tacked on around the beginning of the 20th Century. Slavery was the ONLY issue, and Lincoln's election as an abolitionist ignited the war. Be annoyed all you want, but the Republican party was FORMED as an abolitionist party and remained so while the Democratic party formed the KKK, Jim Crow laws, lynched 4,000+ blacks, created the "Separate but Equal" segregation of the South and filibustered the 1964 Civil rights Act for 66 days. Today the greatest racist organization in the country is still the Democratic party with their virtual plantation, anti-white and anti-jewish bigotry, Antifa and on-going destruction of American heritage. Finally, of COURSE the EP was aimed at slavery in the "seceding states," since there was that little annoyance called the "Civil War" going on at the time. The Emancipation Proclamation freed the Confederate slaves built the 13th Amendment was passed by Congress and ratified in December, 1865 freeing ALL slaves. Lincoln would have signed that if Boothe hadn't shot him. May I ask which institution of higher indoctrination taught you your "America sucks and its history is all racism" revision?

Ryan Sawin - You are 100% wrong about the GOP. Prior to being renamed the Republican Party, it was the Anti-Slavery Party. Lincoln was our first duly elected President, a Republican. No Republican owned a slave. Every slave owner - every single one - was a Democrat. After the Civil War, the slaves were freed in every state by the 13th Amendment, which was supported by Republicans, and opposed by a Democrats. Then came Jim Crow laws in Dixie - pure Democrat states, who voted as a block (the Solid South). This continued throughout Reconstruction. Blacks in the Democrat South were technically free, but lived in fear of lynchings and torture for getting out of line. Blacks voted Republican, except in the Deep South where the KKK rose up. The KKK was a Democrat organization all the way into the late 20th century, as represented by Senator Robert Byrd in West Virginia. The Democrats fought against Civil Rights legislation, but a handful joined the Republicans, and the racist President LBJ was forced to sign it into law. It’s so sad you don’t know the real history of your own party. Now, if they Lied to you about history, what makes you think they’d tell you the truth about Republicans?
@danweaver43044 жыл бұрын
Ryan Sawin - also, you’re right about the EP following Antietam, but that was in September 1862. It went into effect on Jan 01, 1863, and it was replaced by the 13th Amendment, approved by the Senate in 1864, defeated in the House by Democrats in 1864, but was ratified by the required number of states in 1865. Democrats were tossed when Lincoln was re-elected in 1864, and incumbent Democrats saw the Republican majorities in both Houses would have no difficulty passing the Amendment. All 86 Republicans voted For the 13th Amendment. Of the 56 votes Against, 50 were Democrats. Only 15 Democrats voted with the Republicans, largely because Lincoln demanded a compromise with Democrats to gain bipartisanship in the passing vote. The compromise allowed Southern Democrats to re-enslave anyone found guilty of a crime, as punishment for the crime. Hence, Jim Crow laws were passed to speed the findings of guilt down South.

Many leftists often talk about crusade to defend and justify islamic aggressions today. but pope called for crusades to liberate Spain from the centuries of islamic oppressions in the 1st place. If crusade didn't happen Europe would have been islamic kingdom today. But I guess these are European history, so they don't learn about them. But how can someone not know about the 1st president or rular of a nation? It's even in the name of their capital city?

Se bem que não podemos falar muita coisa, porque o que nós sabemos deles que eles não sabem nós aprendemos por fora da escola, e nós sabemos daqui só o que é ensinado e o que procuramos saber. Rabih Siddiqui They switched bases, not ideology. The original ideology of the Democrats was soft left wing economics in a populist style. The Democrats were big-tent, and eventually Southern Democrats left for the Republican Party due to the Northern Democrats strong support for black civil rights. The Republicans of course supported black civil rights, but were more moderate on the issue. Since then segregation and support of left wing economics among these now Republicans has essentially gone extinct. Except the populism, with the Tea Party Movement and the 2016 election.
