Social worker here. You did thing by saying no. Never let any stranger touch your kids, even if it’s just a “funny handshake”, whatever that means. He knew what he was doing approaching you when he thought you were alone, just mom and kids. Glad you’re all okay!

lots of areas in the uk have local traditional foods. i’m from scotland, it has lots of traditional foods. haggis is the go to for brave tourist (worth it very yummy) and black pudding, but potato scones and cloutie dumpling are great for the kids to try. scotland is also the only country in the world whose number one fizzy drink isn’t coke it’s Irn Bru and the glass bottles that say 1901 are the traditional recipe. there’s also tablet which is a traditional sweet it’s made with condensed milk and sugar and is best enjoyed if you don’t have sensitive teeth. you will find mostly british dishes in a local pub most food serving pubs are family friendly.

Some tasty British meals to try are- 1. toad in the whole (sausages in Yorkshire pudding) you can find it in some pubs or in the meal or frozen section of the supermarket, 2. The Sunday roast with Yorkshire puddings, 3. A full English breakfast, 4. Afternoon tea (finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream + jam & mini cakes), 5. A fish and chip shop, 6. A British Chinese take away/restaurant/buffet, 7. An Indian restaurant or take away (try the chicken tikka masala it’s not spicy).

While in Scotland you may want to try a bridie, or a sausage roll or meat pie (if you like a crust that is a little more dense, go with the meat pie & if you prefer something a little more flakey, try the bridie (the sausage rolls are pretty good too, just not my personal favorite). If you are anywhere near Whitby, while you're in England (North Yorkshire, I believe) that's a great place for really great fish meals, because it's a seaside town (supposed to have some of the best fish & chips). Most people do go to Edinburgh while visiting Scotland, so if you're looking for other places to visit, Sterling has a castle that you might like to visit, or try a city like Ayr, where Robert Burns hailed (& where he is buried); there's an area in & around that cemetery that is supposed to be where you can find Brigadoon. Inverness & Isle of Skye are other nice (& beautiful) places to visit. If you want to get a feeling for a city that's not so modern, try someplace like Stonehouse (though it's been a long time since I've been there, so I would check that out, first, to see if it still has that quaint, old style village atmosphere - definitely not your normal tourist location).
@ittzjasminem22272 жыл бұрын
I live in London and just a few tips The local supermarket is called Sainsbury's and it's really cheap There are some restaurants that are good but I'm not to sure if they're all local If your air b and b is close to a train station you should take the Northerm,Picadilly,Victoria,metripolitan, to King's cross and King's Cross has all of the lines Do not go to Waitrose and Partners because it is expensive and you have a lot of people in your family For sightseeing I recommend the Shard and the London eye
@donnoir2 жыл бұрын
So glad you tried meal deals and Greggs, both British traditions! A bap is just a British word for a bread roll, it doesn't have to be a breakfast item. E.g., If you put chips (fries) in it, it's a chip bap! If you go to northern England, it's often called a butty (bacon butty, chip butty, etc) and there are other regional variations. For trying other meals while in the UK, I recommend looking for a family-friendly pub or a carvery, and eating some pub food! You get some really good typical home cooked meals like Sunday roasts there.

I definitely would've stepped in between that interaction, no matter where I am nobody better even think about walking up to my youngest child and speaking to them! Nope...my husband is in the military so a lot of times it's just my kids and I. I constantly remind them that any person could try to kidnap them, especially if they're not right next to me and where I can see them. Also don't ever talk to strangers or go off with them for any reason!
@EmilyCheetham2 жыл бұрын
I think it’s a bit much to say don’t talk to a stranger. Majority of people aren’t any danger what so every. They are just happy people looking for a chat. But no way would I want a stranger touching me or kids or giving them a hand shake. I talk to people on the bus or in town. Iv helped many people find things in shops (including kids, as I work in retail) all the time. Would never dream of touching anyone though. Kids shouldn’t be afraid of talking to people. But I agree should never touch someone or go off with them & definitely not take anything without a parents permission. Iv given a kid a lolly pop from a freshly opened bag of candy before on the bus with parents permission for instance as I was talking to the mum on the bus. But I asked the mum first I wouldn’t never just hand something over to a kid unless it was their own possession they had dropped.

I was one of the police officers policing the queen's funeral, it was a very long set of days leading up to the day itself, that week I worked 90 hours (a "normal" working week in the UK is a 40 hour week), every day was a minimum of 14 hour shifts and one day was 18.5 hours from shift start to finish. As exhausting as it was, it was a pleasure to police it and to pay respect to queen Elizabeth.

You absolutely did the right thing saying no, that was not OK of that guy, creeeeepy! As a sovereign nation New Zealand viewed every aspect of the Queen's passing, build up to, parading of the coffin, memorials, vigils, and funeral, from the moment we heard. Also the King' s tour. The funeral though it was at 530 there was at around 11pm here so I ended up watching all day, and until 130am the next day! Phew. I'm so glad I did though to honor the Queen, and celebrate her 70 years on the throne. RIP QE2, love live King Charles III. How sad Kenzie did get to see all of the V&A museum. Will you go back?
