I am biased because I come from the north of England. . But it is the true England. . The lakes, the pennines. The Meadows, the country pubs, the views, the fresh air, the country walks, the rivers, the forests. The campsites, the castles, .. or you could go to London get mugged , choke on pollution, pay £6 a pint . Avoid London. . Visit the true England.

I agree, I live in London. It's big cities in general. Luckily I live on the suburbs so I could just walk for 10 minutes and i'm in the countryside. There are some nice places in the south too! lol

You missed out the really remarkable thing about Eyam. When the plague appeared in the village, the whole village went into voluntary quarantine to stop the disease spreading elsewhere. No one left Eyam until the plague had burned itself out there. They just coped as best they could on their own.
@4BCJesus5 жыл бұрын
I can't believe you did Eyam. I did a walk there the other day, it was the most emotional walk I've ever been on. Fair play to you for getting into the back and beyond, some really beautiful places to see, and some real history. There was a stone between the village of Eyam and Stoney Middleton and the people from the surrounding villages would leave food and supplies there, and the people from Eyam would walk out to collect it and leave money in a little hole in the rock filled with vinegar. And it's still there, holes and all. It's such a heavy atmoshphere, you can't even imagine what they went through.

Don't forget to go to the gift shops of the cathederal and castle because there are so many thing to buy becuase i spend my easter summer and christmas there so that mean i've been going my whole life. These days there is so much content piling over here from The USA that I fear we are going to lose many parts of our own language. The lass at Bolsover Castle, for example, talks about people going to the place and `hanging out.` Which is fine - since she is American. But I hear it said by my fellow Britons more than I hear what we would have once said, which is `knocking about.` "I`m so pissed," is another one that is coming to mean "so angry," rather than legless / drunk. We are beginning to say "stay cool,` rather than `keep your hair on.` "He / she lost it.." Rather than "He went bloody hairless !" No. We should at least try to keep our own version of the English Language.

bigearedmouse17 went to Newcastle once .. encountered a pickpocket 2 times.. everyone had a greggs pasty in their mouth, even the kids in buggies . Beggars on the streets. Dog turd everywhere. Seagulls attacking you. Buskers that cant sing. When i left i felt i had been violated . Shitty sports direct shops. No one could speak the Queens English. . The smell in the streets was disgusting. The river was chocolate brown. I was there for 3 hours ( worst 3 hours of my life ) and I swear I left smelling worse than I did when I arrived. After 8 hours driving.. we left our hotel and headed for Durham. . What a difference. Clean streets, nice people, polite people, clean hotel, ( no pubes in the shower, , did i mention that?? ) no smelly sweaty people smoking roll ups . No 25 stone men with enormous beer bellies in a Newcastle top that must have fit them when they were 12yr old . Oh and how many people actually visit a dentist in Newcastle? ? Ive visited most cities in the uk and i have to say i have returned to everyone. I travel a lot. But I will never return to the shit hole they call NEWCASTLE.
@paulhepburn2196 жыл бұрын
bigearedmouse17 benidorm, magaluf, Blackpool are party destinations. . It doesn't make them nice places.. cheap beer , cheep women, , puke on the streets, people pissing in the streets (even the women ) does that remind you of anywhere? ?? Errmmm maybe NEWCASTLE? ?
