A lot of the worst estates for example North Peckham estate got knocked down (only a small section remains now) but in these areas they are building more expensive housing (gentrifying the area) which is what he means at the end when he says about lots of ‘white hippies’ moving in

I was Born and bread in Peckham and I remember those years, it was terrible to live between the violence that happened daily on the streets with drive by shootings in random areas but now the police to be fair have done a great job on a massive crackdown, though I wouldn't advise to go on these estates on the back streets because its still happening but its so much better has it dont seem to be spilling out in the main public places as much, you still obviously get a few incidents but Peckham has come a long way and I love how great the town is, its so Cultral diverse with so much personality with people from all backgrounds actually getting on. the area doesn't seem so deprived and people seem to.have money etc. Really Proud how far my home town has become. Croydon seems to be the area of South London where its all spilling out in the streets... Drill Rapper Stormzy is from there.
