Karsu Dönmez is the daughter of a Turkish family. She was born in the Netherlands. She is a songwriter, singer and pianist. The song "Gelavera Vadisi" is about the great love between Elif and Hasan. The songwriter was Kazım Koyuncu. Unfortunately he died of cancer at a very young age.

Karsu has accent in her Turkish since she was raised in Netherlands, the song itself also has special regional accent (north of Turkey), thus this track sounds a lil bit weird to me, hard to feel the lyrics but it is awesome performence obviously.

North east of turkey, there was a small christian kingdom called lazica 1000yrs ago. Thats why there are blond ppl and the lazic dialect. 🤗 Just like erzurum ppl are armenian by dna they speak turkish with an armenian dialect.

This is the lazic dialect she sings it's not straight turkish. This dialect is spoken in north east turkey. In north east turkey was once a small christian kingdom called lazica, where the ppl sung this kind of songs but in lazic language, which is related to the georgian language. Lazica was once part of the roman empire, then part of the byzantine empire. Eventually integrated into the ottoman empire/turkey. Lazic ppl were forced to become turkish and muslim, the dialect, culture and music remained.

First of all, the double dot over the o in her last name makes an 'uh' sound . Next, it's important to understand that the song is borrowed from Sevval Sam's 2008 'Black Sea folk albun which won Turkey's Golden Butterfly. Re contrasting styles between Shevvie and Karsu, let's just say that the latter willfully violates every Bel Canto principle of Legato for the sake of pure expression.

Bir İngiliz Türkçe konuşurken diyorsun bu İngiliz ya da Rus’la konuşurken Rus diyorsun. İyi de bu aksan nedir? Aksanlı konuşmuyor bozuk konuşuyor ve bozuk söylüyor, neden seviliyor bu tarz (mı desem ne desem bilemedim ama) anlayamıyorum… Sevdiğin böyle ağlar… hiçbir aksanda sevdiğin böyle yağlar ya da yalar gibi bir söylem yok, kötü kötü kötü.
