'Mastermind' is a very long lived BBC quiz series - it is not for money or prizes- just for the honour of winning. There are 4 contestants in each heat, who answer questions on their 'specialist subject' (chosen by them prior to coming on the show) and then a round of general knowledge. Each episode is a heat, and at the end of the series a grand final takes place and the winner walks away with a trophy and the honour of winning.

Mastermind is super hard quiz with no money as a prize, you just get a trophy and the prestige of being a Mastermind. The format is 5 contestants compete against one another over 2 rounds of quick-fire questions. The first part is a specialised questions on a topic of their choosing and the 2nd part is general knowledge. Its been running since 1972

Mastermind! There are some wonderful - but very different - comedy sketches based on the Mastermind show. "The Two Ronnies" sketch is amazing.

There was a comedy sketch version of mastermind done by the two ronnies which is a little old now but is very clever. The other similar show to mastermind was "the Krypton Factor" which was marketed as trying to find the British super person, It consisted of general knowledge, and army assault course, observation round, a 3D puzzle round and and in a few series a flight simulator. the uk had a number of Puzzle type games there was a series called "The Adventure game" where celebraties had to work their way through puzzle activities (much like modern escape rooms) and this inspired the more well known Game show "The Crystal Maze" which was originally hosted by the creator of the rocky horror Pictureshow Richard O Brian who spent a lot of the time making strange comments at the camera and playing the harmonica

Roisin (pronounced Ro-sheen) is an Irish name meaning "Little Rose". It comes ultimately from a Latin word, so while the spelling might confuse some people, it really is quite a nice name even in the US where it is quite rare. Another female Irish name seen in this clip is Aisling (pronounced: Ash-lin), which means "dream" or "vision".

You asked about Master Mind, it's more of a serious quiz show. The contestants research a specialist subject and answer questions against the clock, on their own. Then there is a general knowledge round, again, answered on their own against the clock. The highest score wins. There is a great skit of this with the Two Ronnies and the specialist subject is answering the previous question. Check it out, it's very clever.

Mastermind has two rounds; one on a specialist subject & one on general knowledge. It is a knockout competition & the winner of the final wins a Waterford Crystal trophy. There is no cash prize as such.

SUSIE DENT.....YES PLEASE !!😍 Mastermind is a " high brow" quiz. It has been running since 1972.There is no prize money. they play for a trophy . There is a celebrity one as well. NOT as " high brow" ! ROISIN, pronounced ROSHEEN, is an Irish name. " RECTUM OF THE YEAR " is my favourite Sean clip of all time. Poor Claudia sitting next to him. So noticeable how Sean's voice changed when he became ill . RIP SEAN.

Mastermind is based on interrogation .The contestants sit in the spotlight and have one minute of questions on a specialist subject which they can choose and a second round on general knowledge .It's been a staple of Briish tv for years and the rounds last several months with five contestants each time - the winner gets the honour of being Mastermind champion and a glass bowl . In general prizes in shows usually amount to the price of a second hand car and on regular Countdown contestants get a teapot , which may be why Who wants to be a millionaire ? was such a success . The Catsdown version works really well , with Rachael , Susie and the Countdown studio and format it gives them a lot more opportunity for physical comedy than the original 8/10 Cats .

Roisin is Irish for little Rose Pronunced RO. Sheen.
@Zandain Жыл бұрын
It's an Irish girls name, Roisin from the name, Rose in a sense, 'little rose' pronounced a bit differently in the North and in the Republic of Ireland. In the north, it's pronounced 'ROSH-sheen' In the Republic it's pronounced 'ROW-sheen' hello from Denmark 🌸
@WookieWarriorz Жыл бұрын
pretty much the same north to south just accent differences. some places will drop the een at the end so more like rowshin too but even then its mostly accent.

I have a lovely niece called Roisin, our family lives in the U.K. but of Irish extraction. It is a name we come across quite regularly in most of the U.K. including England where I live. I don’t think that precise pronunciation matters too much but we go along with the Republic, it is ROW-Sheen. I also have female relatives called Niamh, Aisling, Orlaith, and Aoife. All pronounced differently from their spelling. E.g the last one is definitely not pronounced AOFEe, as she was referred to at immigration control at Chicago Airport last month.

Mastermind is a British institution - the closest thing the US had to it was a sports-themed variation called "2 Minute Drill", about 20 years ago. The current American "Master Minds" is nothing to do with the UK show. If you do a reaction to the UK show it might be best to do a celebrity edition - you won't know the UK celebrities but it has a bit more of a friendly vibe than the standard show.

The premise of Mastermind is that in the first round you choose the topic from anything you like and they prepare questions for your choice, that's the important thing to know.

Roisin (Ro-shean) is a traditional Irish name, like Sean (shorn), Siobahn (Sha-vaughan), Gearoid (Ge-road), Padraig (Pardrig), and many others. Virtually all of the pronounciations make sense when you sit and think about how each single letter is pronounced.

@birdmanfree1651 Жыл бұрын
@@neuralwarp I am unfamiliar with the name, but online sources tell me that it is pronounced pretty much as spelt, given that most Brits know that ...ch is pronounced as - forgive my attempt at spelling it - a gutteral "csh" as in loch and suchlike. I did not say that all irish prounciations follow the spelling, just that most do. Long live Gaelic, Galic and Welsh (and maybe Cornish, Manx and...................)

I love you guys so much and I would like to share this with you. And you can take it however you would like. The condemnation is this that everyone has sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. But this is the gospel which means the good news. God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son so that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. And the only way to be saved is to believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord. Believe that he died and was raised on the third day by God the father. Ask him to receive the holy Spirit. Repent from your sins (which means turn away). And be baptized in the name of the father son and the Holy Spirit. God bless you and have a good day. 🙏 John 3:16 Good video btw

I thought the second last guy (I think it was; the one doing the bouncing thing) was pretty lame, tbh. It was awkward, and not ultimately funny enough to justify the awkwardness. So I was going: Can you do something right now that makes for a really funny punchline for this, or otherwise, GTFO. I definitely think Would I Lie to You is funnier and a more interesting format.
