@5:03. Guiyang is interesting because it is the capital of one of the very POOREST provinces of China. Guiyang is capital of the Guizhou province. To give you a reference for comparison, Guizhou is equivalent to these poor places : USA - Mississippi Canada - Saskatchewan Brazil - Piaui + Roraima India - Jharkhand + Chhattisgarh To give you an idea how poor : I know someone from Guizhou. She told me that she has 2 sisters, and that when they were young, all 3 of them had to share 1 proper trousers. That means at any one time, ONLY 1 sibling can go out! That's how poor it was. So it's amazing that it is what it has become today 👍👍👍. The local government of Guizhou has promoted the city and turned it into the centre of big data in China

Ningbo, Wuxi, Hangzhou, Suzhou are all close to Shanghai, but each has their own culture, dialect, foods. Because different cultures, dialects and foods developed in last thousands of years and in the past those cities are small and very difficult to connect cause enclosed mountains. Northern China seems a bit similar each city than southern. Each city has its own culture, foods and dialect in southern China.

Wow, can't believe that I can see my hometown in this video. I was born and raised in Wuxi, where I lived for 22 years. I came to the US to study and have been living in the US for almost 11 years. At this moment, I am desperately homesick and missing the food of my hometown. To answer your questions about the culture, I am 100% sure that Wuxi and Shanghai have similar culture and the food between these two cities are also close, however, the food of my hometown is much sweeter than that of Shanghai, probably the sweetest food in China. On the other hand, economically these two cities will become more closely related in the future and meanwhile keep their own independence of administration and division of industry categories and labor. Hope that you can have the opportunity to visit Wuxi in the future.

I don’t think most foreigners recognize a few Chinese cities other than Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, at least you should know Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Chongqing, Xi’an, Chengdu, these are some of the top tier cities, maybe someone heard about Sichuan, but that is a province. it’s just creepy for the world being so ignorant to China, I mean some of them can talk about China for a whole day while they can’t recognize any Chinese city

It is very ignorant to compare South Korea, Japan, France, UK or indeed most other countries to China, and then say most people can only remember one or two cities in each country, and this must also apply to China, because you miss one important information that most of those countries are only equivalent to one province of China in both the area size or population.

Please take us there. You can rent a car and go on a road trip. Definitely visit Wuxi, it's only less than 28 minutes away from Shanghai by express train. The food there is amazing. Pork rib, Xiaolongbao, and much more. We will follow along. Have fun!

Yes. Wuxi has it's own cusine, which is tend to be sweet. I woould say sweeter that Shanghai cuisine. The well known dish is Wuxi (pork) ribs.

Bro you are NOT visiting two random cities.😄 Wuxi is the one link of the Yangtze River Delta city cluster (economy zone). Shanghai is the hub of this biggest city cluster in China. And there are some cities, like Hangzhou, Nanjing, Changzhou, Ningbo, Shaoxing, etc. Foshan is the satellite city of Guangzhou, the one of the twin hubs of the Pearl River Delta city cluster, the second biggest city cluster in China. Shenzhen is the other hub. These two city clusters contribute 36% of entire Chinese GDP combine. They are literally the center of manufacturing.

I'm from Wuxi originally and it now has a population of 7.5m not 3.3m😂 And yes I can confirm Wuxi and Shanghai have slightly different cuisines despite they are just 40mins away by train. Wuxi is the 'Sweet Capital of China' because we put sugar in savoury dishes and they are fxxxing delicious. Also a fact that not people may know, Wuxi has the highest GDP per capita in mainland China among all cities over 1m population, surpassing Shanghai, Beijing and Shenzhen etc

Can't believe it when I saw Wuxi😂 I'm coming from Wuxi - and yes, though we are kinda closed to each other, Wuxi and Shanghai (which takes around 2-hour driving or 45min on bullet train), we still have our own cultures. We share similar tastes and style of cooking in food. However, food in Wuxi is usually a lot sweeter. We've got our own so called 'signature food' in different cities. More differences show in the aspect of culture - we even speak different languages if you consider Cantonese as a language rather than a dialect. China is very big. Hope you guys enjoy and explore and understand more in your future trips.

The famous Xiaolong bao actually is from Wuxi instead of Shanghai. Shanghai doesn't really have her own cuisine; it is a newer city compares the surrounding cities. The people moved to Shanghai also brought the cuisine to Shanghai. Why you think there is a Shanghai cuisine, because it is easy to market of a place you know.

Sorry, I don't agree with you. Generally speaking, Shanghai Xiaolong refers to Nanxiang Xiaolong, which is located in the suburbs of Shanghai. I checked the literature and found that there is a difference between Nanxiang Xiaolong and Wuxi Xiaolong.
