Some basic Rules: no forward passes unless kicked forward, no high tackles, yellow cards = 10 minutes time out, conversion time = 30 seconds, no collapsing scrums, no knockons (ball is dropped and bounces forward and is catched), have to release in a ruck, have to roll over in a ruck, offside rule, not allowed to push the ball out if it is on your own try line, penalties (don’t know most of them), rolling subs for injuries only, 23 players with 8 subs and starting XV.

Yeah if you 'fumble' and rehandle the ball its called a 'knock-on'. You can kick it foward, which is commenly known as a 'grubber kick' but you can't handle the ball again with your hands untill it passes the try line (known as the end zone in American football). Then the player, the ball and the ground have to be in contact in the 'end zone' (passed the Try line) to score a 'Try'.

Hell, I was even waiting for a drop goal attempt closer to the end, but nothing. And of course you’d say SA is “playing dirty”, but I’m pretty sure everyone plays according to those rules you mentioned, including England; we all watched the game. We’ve seen bad calls towards us during this WC too, but the game doesn’t stop because of it. Evolve with the game and get out of that mindset of “we invented it, it’s ours” because England shared it with everyone and everyone else is running with it.

NZ All Black Sir Wayne "Buck" Shelford will always a a rugby football legend for the 1986 injury he sustained in a match against France, while still an amateur player (no sponsorship or endorsements) 20mins into the match he was involved in a very aggressive maul where he lost 4 teeth and a french players boot tore open his scrotum leaving his testicle exposed. He calmly left the field, asked the team doc to stitch him up and he went back on the field to play. Now that's hard core 🤘🤘

I remember playing Rugby at school during PE and at one point had two opposition players hanging on (one to each leg) to me and I was still moving forward. Conversely I tried a friendly muckabout game of American Football and managed to break the arm of an opposition player without touching them, it was (I think) a Lineout and the opposition player to my left was a big & beefy guy, who I bounced out of my way, this resulted on him falling on the poor chap next to him who ended up with a broken arm.

3:05 to explain this, in Rugby you can't touch the line or you're considered out and he then taps the ball to keep it play since he knew he was going to go out and then scores by placing the ball down. If the ball hit the ground instead of him kicking it it would have been a knock on and the other team would be given a free kick and if you dont solidly place the ball down when you go for a try (scoring) again its considered a knock on. Player played that amazingly well.
@TheJim9191
@TheJim9191 9 күн бұрын
6:04 - the reason this is so sick is because the guy in green who got so brutally tackled actually SCORED the try while he was being annihilated. In rugby, to score a try (equivalent of a touchdown) the rule is that you have to get the ball over the try line (into the end zone as you would say) and touch it to the ground with your hand. As long as no part of your body is touching the ground out of bounds, it counts, as long as your hand is on the ball and the ball is on the ground. So for him to score this try while in the process of getting absolutely obliterated and being basically upside down and in the air is absolutely insane skill.

Rugby is a complex sport here are most of the rules: Team and Players: Two teams with 15 players each. Positions include forwards and backs, each with specific roles. Object of the Game: Score points by carrying the ball over the opponent's try line or kicking it through the opponent's goalposts. Scoring: Try: 5 points for carrying the ball across the opponent's try line. Conversion: 2 points for kicking the ball through the goalposts after a try. Penalty Goal: 3 points for kicking the ball through the goalposts after a penalty. Drop Goal: 3 points for kicking the ball through the goalposts during open play. Game Structure: The game is divided into two halves, each typically lasting 40 minutes. Play is continuous, with no forward passes allowed. Tackling and Ball Handling: Tackles must be below the shoulders. Players can pass the ball backward to teammates. The ball can be kicked, carried, or passed to advance it. Scrum: A method of restarting play after minor infringements. Forwards from both teams bind together to contest the ball. Lineout: A method of restarting play after the ball goes out of bounds. Rucks and Mauls: Occur when players are on their feet and contesting for the ball. Offside Rule: Players must be behind the last foot of the ruck, maul, or tackle area. Penalties: Awarded for rule violations. A team can choose to kick for goal, kick for touch, or take a scrum. Yellow and Red Cards: Yellow cards are shown for serious rule violations, leading to a player's temporary suspension. Red cards result in a player's ejection from the game. These are the fundamental rules of Rugby Union. Variations exist in Rugby League and other forms of rugby, so it's essential to be aware of the specific rules for the version of rugby you're interested in.

Ok @3:05 the rules of Rugby are that the ball can not be passed forwards, that includes what is called a knock-on where a player lets go of the ball and then catchess it themselves further forward than when they let go of it, but you areee allowed to kick it forwards then catch it yourself.. and that is what this beautiful MoFo did right there to save the ball from going out of bounds ;) A lovely bit of quick thinking Oh, and at 6:01, you missed how impressive that was, because to score a "try" (a "touchdown" in American Football) you must not only cross the line but also touch the ball to the ground, and that guy there touched the ball down while upside down lol

To clear up the early confusion in the clip when the big dude in red looked like he dropped the ball then scored? You can’t drop the ball. I love seeing Americans watching and appreciating our sport, as much as love yours ❤

You cant drop or pass the ball forward in rugby (if you get lucky and you drop it straight down.....its ok if it goes/bounces backwards)........you can kick the ball forward however. So that crazy try the guy scored where hes dropped the ball near the line....he kicked it with his foot forward before it bounced, perfectly fine. If he didnt touch it with his foot before the ball hit the floor, he couldn't of legally picked the ball back up. He also did amazingly well to not touch the line with the ball in hand....which if the ball's in your possesion and you touch the line in anyway...it counts as the ball being out.

A legal tackle is anything below the shoulders and above the waist, one on one (usually)... That double guillotine tackle, top and bottom was highly illegal and very dangerous. The tackle where the guy got a shoulder to the head, also an illegal tackle. When you consider the average weight of a rugby player without pads is anywhere from 218kg to 260kg and moving at anywhere from 10m per second (sometimes over 11m per second), that gives you an impact force of about 22g's? Usain Bolt's world record 100m time puts him at about 10.43 metres per second.... But then he didn't have a ball to carry and worry about incoming wrestlers trying to get it off him....

the most brutal sport in the world was saved by the most Sexiest woman in the world Tina. “In the late 80s, rugby league - and Australia, was a very different place. The sport of rugby league was far from the multimillion dollar behemoth it is today. Seems you guys stumbled upon our freight train testing program. Nothing to see here, nothing to see here. I used to play Football (not handegg) and Rugby and sometimes i'd forget which is which, got reds a couple of time because of it.

As I know rugby there is not one player with a full set of teeth. They all have bent noses too. ❤️🇬🇧

I broke my nose in three places playing high school rugby. Had to get it surgically reset (basically knocked out then they jam two steel rods up the nose and straighten it by hand). The surgeon was an ex-Wallaby and he joked he was just knocking me out because I was 14 but over his career he'd reset his teammates noses after games without anesthesia. I had two black eyes the next day and very bruised cheeks.

Rugby is impressive, oh yeah. However quite a few of those tackles were illegal as hell. Cant just charge into someone with your shoulder, as you would in hockey. Any contact with the head or neck is strictly punished often by a dismissal for the rest of the match(red card) and probably even further suspension, unless there are mitigating circumstances, where you might get away with a yellow (10minutes on the sideline). Finally you cant pass forward by hand and that includes even when you drop the ball and pick it up again...

You can only pass the ball backwards otherwise people would just camp out at the try(goal) line and wait to get the ball to score

I played rugby for 2 years and as a women they are a lot rougher than the men. I stopped playing due to broken shoulder, ankles and multiple concussions. Nothing like the adrenalin of dragging 5 player down the field and scoring a try.

And within the most brutal sport in the world, South Africa is the most dominant & successful nation, EVER!! Currently ranked number 1 & the 4 time, 4 time, 4, time, 4 time world champions. Literally never lost a world cup final we have played in.

That ball hit his feet so its ok! If he drops it infront of him without a leg then its a knock on and its not a try.
