Loved this reaction to multiple eps in one! Will you guys be reacting to the Deleted Scenes and Bonus Content as well? Each ep besides the first has those videos to give more insight and extra content on the time period of the episode itself. It’s really good to watch alongside the episodes and see even more of what they were like/went through! I’m excited to see more of what you guys think about their journey, the things you find interesting and discuss like the mechanisms of the industry and how the members have grown and changed. @@constanzasaucedo7045 Kinda. Jin has spoken about how nervous and self-conscious he was in the early days. It wasn't until Fire that he got more goofy and silly and stuff, even in his personal life, because the song taught him to not be afraid of being more free and expressive. Even the members have said that Jin was intimidating in the early days. He was never mean, but he was less expressive or willing to talk. It wasn't really a way to come across as a 'celebrity', it was more like he was feeling imposter syndrome and was very nervous.

Being around cameras is not natural for most people when they are not used to them. I think its expected that the members were a bit more lost around them when they first started. 17:55 hello guys. While it is true that Jin was casted in the streets, it didn't mean he automatically had a spot in the group. When he said casting, it was like an invitation for audition. He showed up for audition, he sang a song (iirc from Rooking King he said he sang a song called Hello), and Bang PD saw his potential as a vocalist.

YES! BTS is heavily credited for being the first group to truly take advantage of the reach of social media. Granted, they only did that bc their company didn’t have much money to leverage their marketing and the didn’t get many opportunities from the industry. Actually, before BTS is was unheard of for an idol group to have a social media account ran by themselves, much less INDIVIDUAL social media accounts. Before them, companies completely managed an idols image and how much they interacted with the world.
@alexis.george2 жыл бұрын
45:23 Yes, BTS is one of the few groups in the industry who have the freedom to create their own work. Most groups eventually do start exploring when they gain enough fame and establish themselves enough, but BTS is one of the few who produced and composed from day one. That's why ARMYs become long-term fans, because we know their music and their messages are from them. The fact that said messages are about self-love and discovery of self, compared to other groups who talk about more trivial things (no hate, fun songs are vital to the world), is just another bonus.

The reason why tae was hidden : V wasn't the last to join the group it was Jimin . And recently in one of their interviews I think it was in billboard magazine V revealed that he was sad that he was forced to not show up on cameras like the other members he always questioned himself "why me?" But bang pd said that V was their secret weapon and it was a strategy plan to get more attention to the group the moment ppl are gonna know BTS are actually 7 not 6 and it worked tae was able to double up the fandom (at least this is what I've heard)
@Sarah-vr2jq2 жыл бұрын
From what I understand, for Jin, the company wanted his "concept" to be more cold and handsome which is very much not in his nature so he seemed a bit more sad in some logs I think because of that. Around the time of Blood Sweat and Tears era, he really dropped that and let his "true" nature of being goofy shine through. I also think they experienced a lot of hate and hardships for the first few years so I'm sure that impacted the mood.
@janae87472 жыл бұрын
I always wonder how conflicted he must have felt to put on this "cool, stoic, and handsome" persona when in reality he's really just a handsome nerd who loves video games and dad jokes 😅 then to add to it that he had the least experience of anyone when he joined the group, as all the other members had some sort of musical background but he didn't. So maybe that also played into him being less confident back then I'm so happy he's himself these days

19:30 being the center in a k-pop group is actually a position! just like being main dancer or main vocalist, a member being the center means they're good at attracting attention and their performance is worthy of being put in the center, because that's what people are most likely looking at, so he is the center of the group and is most of the time front and center in dance formations

I’ll probably have a lot of comments for this one so I’ll just keep editing this one as a I watch 😆 - I love they filmed the video diaries as not only is it great for them to look back on it also helped them to connect with their fans and make them feel so much more genuine and real! It also gives us an insight to how they were feeling back them especially for army who discovered them years after their debut and want to look back on those first years - these ROB episodes also have behind the scenes and bonus content if your ever interested in seeing those! There much shorter than the actual episodes but they include lots of fun clips and more of their journey :) there’s also small behind the scenes parts at the end of each episode after the ‘on next episode’ part - Logan Paul was there bc he presented them one of their Billboard music awards 🤣 - yess BigBang are so iconic!! - One direction was put together on XFactor - Bang PD still produces music and he recently stepped down as CEO to focus on producing :) - at the start they had all seven on them in one room - This series is created and edited by Aneesa! She currently has 21 episodes and after a break from editing she is currently working in the final episodes to the series

guys I LOVE that you're watching this, but i wanted to give a quick heads up. i know you've seen the boys on run bts! where they are so happy & confident, but the journey to how they got there isn't very easy to watch. in the beginning (and till 2016/7) they were very young, shy boys who got treated horribly by the kpop industry because they came from a small company but they were surpassing groups of the big companies (which many people in power didn't like). i won't go into detail what they went through (this documentary will explain it better), but you're going to see the blood sweat and tears it cost them to get where they are now. ps: jin was a very very different person then. he was very shy & not yet the confident, goofy sunshine he is today. also, something typical in kpop is that they give the "visual" of the group a cold persona. they have to act cool and aloof & it's only since 2017 or something that jin's true, bubbly personality came out.

12:26 - Hitman Bang was a composer and producer for JYP and created a lot of hits in the early 2000's and up to current times. Then he left and started Big Hit Entertainment while continuing to write and produce. He's won a lot of awards for his songwriting and producing. His music was a lot of ballads and pop, not hip hop. 18:00 - BTS hasn't had plastic surgery. And yes, the diary was real, they shared their real thoughts and feelings. 19:30 - Jungkook was trying out for a talent show and didn't make it. Probably because he wasn't ready for that, but many talent scouts saw his raw talent and potential. That is why he got all the cards. And JK was a trainee just like everyone else. RM was the one they built the group around. He was the first member and the leader. The group was a rap/hip hop group until Bang PD changed it to a Hip Hop Idol group. Jungkook was the main vocalist, and he is at the center of the dance formations. He trained very hard, and he is very talented. He has the most stable voice while dancing, that is one reason he would be in that position, not to mention his amazing voice. JK didn't have a following, he was 13 and just starting out. It wasn't until they started posting vlogs and song covers as trainees, that they started getting a following. **You skipped the end of the first episode, you guys need to watch all the way through. You are missing logs and music that you would otherwise not know about** V was in the preview at the end of the first video. 1:00:00 - They were one of the first groups to really use KZbin - social media, to connect with people. It wasn't common back then for idols to do that. They already had a fanbase at debut. You heard the ARMY's fan chants in the crowd on their debut day? That is how they got their fans. They connected with them from the beginning. If you didn't pause so often, you questions would be answered in the next minute. 1:28:47 - BTS has gotten presidential awards for cultural merit, for spreading the Korean language and culture globally, and I just realized that ARMY's are helping them, and have been helping them to do that, but creating content like what you are watching now, and spreading their music and message. Pretty cool. I don't know why I didn't connect that fact until now. 1:33:07 - Their fans follow them on social media and they buy their albums. I'm sure the performance was announced, and the album was released before their performance. But ARMY's are always there for them, even from the very beginning, which is why I'm sure they went to the show to support them. 1:42:08 - I like you STEPH - You caught on how Namjoon was being hard on himself because of the rappers giving them a hard time. He really struggled with the Hip Hop/Rapper/Idol dilemma in his own mind. I love how he works through it though. RM and SUGA came from underground rap, and they did have rap teams that they were with. All of those people turned on them when they signed with Big Hit.

Steph, love your anger at those "di#k" Hip Hop artists who were disrespecting RM & Suga! You are so right! Interesting fact: Bang SiHyuk (BitHit Founder & CEO) was furious at the way Bfree and the other Rappers disrespected RM & Suga that he went to Bfree's company to confront Bfree. He never got to speak directly to Bfree but did speak to his CEO. Bang Si Hyuk also took RM & Suga out for a meal to support them. You have to remember RM was only 18/19 and Suga was 20 at the time, while all the Rappers and others who were criticizing them where in their late 20's & 30's! RM & Suga handled themselves so maturely! (Also, out of this hate ... it gave birth to Cyphers 1, 2, 3 & 4) 😎 By the way, BFree was arrested for assaulting another Rapper on the day Suga released his very successful mixtape D2, which reached #7 on the Billboard 200! (which is amazing considering it was a free mixtape release!) Karma is ARMY! 😂

So happy you are doing watching this series! The chapters get better and better as you watch! Aneesa has been working on this labor of love for over 4 years! She's a professional video/movie editor. She shared she started this as her way to show her family and friends why she loved BTS so much. She is an OG Kpop fan and was a fan of BTS pre-debut. She tries hard to edit the content in a way to show how BTS/Big Hit was different than many groups and Korean entertainment companies and why the guys are so special! She also tells BTS's story using their own words from their Vlogs & content (and they have SO MUCH content to go through). She had never expected this series to get as big has it has and has been extremely stressed out about it! She took a needed mental health break from editing this series. Good for her! She will post the final 2 chapters soon. She also just shared her boss gave her some time off her busy actual work to finish this series! (Total 24 chapters + Bonus & deleted scenes which is worth watching. You guys should watch to the VERY end of each chapter because there are many funny clips that are shown along with the credits). Note: She does not monetize this series. She lets the music play out as it so the artists/company get their $$. It is truly a passion project! A bit of info: in Kpop there are 3 main companies that run the system. Those groups never have to worry about ratings or popularity because they are guaranteed it from debut. Not that they don’t work hard just they are going to be rewarded in compared to all the other company groups who don’t have that stability. Exo is one of the big 3 and black pink is also from a big3 company.

runch randa (as rm was called during his pre-debut underground days) was certainly very well known in the underground korean rap scene. other korean underground rappers from the time have told stories about how, even as a newcomer 13 year old, runch randa was considerably feared in the underground rap scene by grown men bc of his lyrical and rapping skill and how deep-cutting his diss tracks to other rappers could be should he be provoked. he was very popular in the scene even as a kid, and i’m sure the grown men such as those interviewers were very jealous over such things. suga under the name gloss was more locally known in the rap scene as a member of a rap group called daegu town in his city of daegu. members like v and jungkook knew of runch randa before joining bts, as well as ofc suga as a member of the scene, who had met rm before at an underground event long before bts, and he even considered him a rival for a short while, and this caused tension when they first moved in together. they were seen as the budding young poster children prodigies for the rough and tough underground rap scene by many. so i think a lot of the people on this underground rap scene were surprised when rm went on to branch out in the idol industry, consequently completely ditching the underground scene wherein he had so much fame and infamy alike. i think a lot of ppl like the men in the video considered it a “gotcha” moment that they now finally had something to look down on runch randa and by extension, gloss, for, and that was obviously the many preconceived notions in the korean underground rap scene associated with toxic masculinity and assumptions made on the integrity of an artist’s art. and that’s just their rivals and those holding grudges - those that were fans of them as underground rappers also probably held these preconceived notions and probably had a sense of entitled betrayal when runch randa became rm and gloss became suga. i believe even their old friends jumped on this hate bandwagon. in the end, namjoon and yoongi were just simply above them in skill and in personality, that’s the key to their success after all, and that’s probably still a hard pill for those underground rappers to swallow. as yoongi says in the clip, he wanted to continue rapping, writing and producing, but doing so underground would continue taking him nowhere, he would simply be prolonging his suffering and still be starving every day earning nada trying to just make ends meet, because in the underground rap scene you’re expected to either be an independent artist or sign to a very underfunded rap-specific label to separate oneself from the idol industry as much as possible. he himself had moved away from home at a young age after conflict with his family to follow his dream in proving his doubtful parents wrong and doing music, he wasn’t going to accept failure and if signing to an idol group to continue doing music was the best route, so be it. pursuing being signed to an idol company that was known for respecting artistic independence that allowed them to branch out and eventually earn well and separate themselves from the toxic attitudes in the underground scenes that they clearly did not identify with themselves was very wise.

Jungkook looks pretty much the same as he did in 2013, just more matured, but theres so many times where he is being cute where he looks exactly the same, I hope you'll do the behind the scenes and deleted scenes from these episodes too (just like I hope you start doing them for RUN and Bon Voyage too, because you are missing out on so much without watching them)

45:24 yes Stephanie you are right . There are kpop groups who just sing and perform the songs their company give them. That's why kpop is known as corporate industry and the idols are not seen as artists. That is the reason why bts also was misunderstood by people because they are kpop group so everyone thought they are not artist. Bts are the only group where every member is involved in writing, producing and composing process in their albums. If i have to give actual example of kpop group then it will be many but one you guys know is blackpink. They come from big label formed mostly foreign members to extend other countries market. Bp was made with idea of business in mind. It not means girls don't work hard yes they practice dancing and singing and rapping but they don't contribute on their work. They sing the songs given by their company.so indirectly they are controlled by their company. I hope kpop gives idols more previlage to write their own stuff rather than make them behave like robots.

Omg, thank you guys for this reaction!! Three Rise of Bangtan episodes all at once, you guys are spoiling us! Here's a few answers to some of your questions 😊: 19:40- No, Jungkook did not have a following from that competition show; if I'm remembering correctly, he got eliminated fairly early. One of his official positions is "center", meaning quite literally that he is most often in the center of their dance formations. Another position of his is "main vocalist", but that's very different from in the west where we think of main vocalist as the one who has almost all the lines, so he's not the frontman of the group. 21:05- Keep in mind when they say their age you should subtract one year since Korean age is different than international age, so Jungkook was only 15(!!!) at this point and Jimin was 17. 43:45- unfortunately Wes, the answer to that is simply zenophobia :/ it's much easier to criticize other, foreign cultures' practices than it is our own. 49:15- yup, V was the "secret member" of the group, and his identity wasn't revealed till debut. 50:17- That first "performance" was the rehearsal, that's why there wasn't an audience. In the actual debut performance you can hear ARMY chanting along with the song 😊 1:05:45- ARMY was officially formed and named on July 9th, 2013, just one month after the boys debuted! 1:18:22- FYI, all of the titles of the Rise of Bangtan videos are BTS song names; House of Cards is a fantastic song, I highly recommend you guys check it out 😁 1:40:35- Stephanie hit the nail on the head here, it's just jealousy and bitterness, with a dose of toxic masculinity thrown in 🙄 Loved the reaction, can't wait to see you guys do more of this series!!

12:13 bang pd used to work at jyp entertainment before, he did make some hits there as a producer so that's the origin of the nickname hitman, bang made bighit in 2005, they had some solo acts and shared some groups with other companies but nothing big, at one time the company was even close to bankruptcy, bts was kind of their last try at making it and even then it did not kick off right away, like suga has said that when he was making i need u he thought this could be their last song and comeback

I love you both so much! It's like visiting two of my favorite people. For me, what makes the visit special is our paths were the same (minus being a KZbinr) but our destination was the same. Your reactions have been a replay of my BTS journey. BTS, truly and authentically in our hearts, our final destination. After laughing and crying for two hours, an epiphany occurred. The realization that the reason for watching a trillion reaction videos is finding the ones that make me feel this way. Thank you.

wow thank you for reacting i'm so excited for you to get to know them this way! here's some of my thoughts while i was watching with you guys to help clarify some things for you: - tae was a hidden member or the "secret weapon" as bang si hyuk called him and he was a complete surprise but people loved him straight away and he straight up doubled the fandom lol - kpop groups have "positions" jungkook is the center, main vocal and lead dancer. other positions for example are main dancer (jimin jhope). taehyung is also a lead dancer. this is called the dance line - jin revealed that he felt more himself after Fire era which is why he might seem a bit different to you. you can see this side of him on occassion now but hes said he feels like he needs to make an effort to be positive so others can be happy so he tends to hide his feelings as the eldest (this is quite common in asian cultures which brings me to my next point) - i was actually surprised how surprised you were about hearing about the lack of acknowledgement of mental health in korea i just assumed everyone knew. in asian cultures mental health is very disregarded and dismissed as something that just does not exist. so yes bts resonated with a lot of people as they were acknowledging mental health and socioeconomic crises, much like seo taiji and boys the first kpop group - bts DID leverage social media from the beginning and after their debut performance in america in 2017 a lot of groups created twitter accounts lol anyway can't wait to watch more with you!!

1:43:03 The way I always thought of this was, BTS received so much criticism regarding this issue because they were the easiest to hate on. Other groups had large companies backing them, and even if they didn't, these smaller less popular groups weren't relevant enough to shit on. BTS, who came from underground and were making their name as "hip-hop idols", were the easy target. Not to mention the fact that RM and Suga, the former most especially, had built up a name at such a young age going against older more experienced rappers. At 13, Kim Namjoon had everyone shaking in their boots. And now he rules the world as the leader of the biggest boyband 🔥

To Wes and Steph, pls dont think everything you have seen with BTS is the norm w Kpop. I dont know any kpop group who put out albums, singles and ep almost every few months, especially during their early years while the fact remains they dont have easy access to TV show program compared to kpop group from other big companies. They had to utilize KZbin then when it was not yet the famous way to promote in South Korea. That is the reason why BTS got famous internationally first before Korea recognized that BTS is bigger than who they though is big in Korea.

ARMY was officially created on July 9th, 2013. It's an acronym standing for "Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth" and it's meant to stand alongside BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan = Bulletproof Boy scouts). The thought is that BTS's message is to protect youth from harsh criticisms, stereotypes, and whatnot that are aimed at adolescents like bullets. And because ARMY joins the battle beside them to continue protecting the people who need it, we are the Representative Main Commentator(s) for the youth and powerless. Taehyung (V) was kept as a secret member until debut because of his skills - when he auditioned he rapped, sang, danced, played the saxophone, and acted. Bang PD kept him as a secret because he also didn't want another company to try and steal him. Basically he lived in the dorm with everyone and was fully involved in the process but he was not filmed until it was time to debut. Jimin's comment about returning to school after debut is a little sad, but he didn't necessarily "go home". He meant he returned attending the high school he enrolled in after moving to Seoul - he was born and raised in Busan, as was Jungkook until they moved to the capital. It's understandable that they missed their families, Busan is (I believe) two hours away by car, and that's not even the furthest since Yoongi (SUGA) and Taehyung (V) both were born and grew up in Daegu which is even further from Seoul than Busan. Jin seemed sad in that log of his because he was the baby of his family and he was responsible to take care of six others without much (if any) experience or know how. He didn't know much about responsibility or leadership because he was the youngest, in fact most of the members are the youngest of their families, save Jimin, Namjoon, and perhaps Taehyung. Independence is a little different in Korea from what I recall, I believe most things I've seen reflect that the children don't necessarily move out at 18, instead they continue to live with their parents and go to work/college. I also do appreciate the commentary because most of what you're saying is true, but when the lyrics are going on (such as when N.O. was playing for their performance) it's very important to read the captioned lyrics very carefully because they place meaning super deep within the song. I believe you missed a critical message during part of Suga's verse because you were speaking to one another and not focusing on the captions. I could be wrong, but it looked like you were not paying attention.

Yes Jin's personality has changed the most compared to the other members. Sure everyone has changed in some ways but Jin oh lord on another level. He used to be so shy and timid and awkward and even the members always mentioned how he's one of the quietest guys in the group. But as time passes by he has found himself and has gained a lot of confidence in himself and all this happened bc of his own effort. He has become more confident in himself and is so much more relaxed and... Himself these days. Everything in him has changed for better. His singing his charisma his love for himself..everything and I am so proud of him for being able to do this and find himself. He is still a mysterious person to me though. He is open but knows how to be private, gives us a lot of information about himself but never the big ones, is funny but also deep, loves us to death but knows know to keep boundaries and doesn't hesitate to oppose us. He is mysterious to me. Anyways this became a rant hah I just love him so much. I also think the member's support and love for him made him able to do all this and I am so grateful he has the 6 guys in his life. I just love him so much and I love bts so much

Been a kpop fan since 2011 and following BTS since their debut ; it's funny to see your reactions to how South Korea culture is around school and how the Kpop industry works. Some people trained for between 7 and 10 years,a lot wanted to give up but I'm glad they didn't (thinking of Bangchan from Stray Kids or Jihyo from Twice,she trained for 10 years and she's only 25 now,she trained since she was 8)

The thing with kpop artist is that they still need to go to school despite their busy schedules as an artist. Just like BTS during their training and debut years on top of their busy schedules of performing, recording and practices they still need to finish their schooling. When they debut Jungkook was in middle school, v, jimin, Jhope and rm were in Highschool and Suga and Jin were in college. And now some of them are taking masters degree in their field and jk just graduated college with honors and v and jimin also graduated college with honors about two years ago. That is why for me they are a perfect role model for the youth. Coz they were able to achieve their dreams as artists without sacrificing their education. They were able to overcome all hardship and negative criticisms and turned it to positive one. That is how help people around them and their fandom. BTS is the first boy band that I really followed wholeheartedly. I love them so much and so proud of them and their achievements. And so withARMY family which love BTS unconditionally. Happy and proud to be a part of this family (BTS and ARMY). 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🫰🏻🫰🏻🫰🏻🫰🏻🫰🏻🫰🏻🫰🏻

Thanks for doing 3 at once. All 7 members shared that room,there were3 bunk beds and a single. The group was actual based more around namjoon, not JK. Jk is the main vocal but he was the 5th one to join. I love this series because it’s showing them speak about so much themselves. And it also shows the difference of Big hit vs the other companies, that’s why it flipped back and forth…big hit gave more freedom
