Dave was really brave performing this at the brits, it's a big deal here with a massive audience, it would be like someone calling trump racist at the grammys. Its really worth looking into some of the issues he brought up here too, if you aren't aware, the grenfell tower fire, the treatment of megan markle and Kate Middleton by the press and Royal family, the Windrush generation and the mass deportations... he really went deep, he's really amazing 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I agree that songs like this are generally 'silenced' or underpromoted, but in this instance, what makes this especially special is that Dave performed this at the BRITs. The BRITs are basically the UK equivilent of the grammy's, it's as big as it gets over here, lots of mainstream attention and reaching a lot of ears that wouldn't normally hear this type of message. And Dave's biggest song off that album was Location, he could've performed that... Just goes to show what kind of an artist/person Dave is.

I've waited a long time for this one y'all 😏. So glad you managed to get it done because there was no doubt in my mind you'd truly appreciate it. This is such a universally impactful and artistic performance - the lyrics, rapping whilst playing the piano, the visuals, the deliberate contrasts (Dave in white, the other pianist in black), calling out the Prime Minister on stage at the UK's biggest awards ceremony - all of it combines to make it my favourite ever live performance from a rapper. If I hadn't seen Prince live a bunch of times it might be my favourite of all time! And he was only 21. When he said my grenfell victims still need accommodation is a rlly deep line. Grenfell tower was a project building in west London that caught fire and killed I think around 7-80 ppl. It was later revealed that the tower was not built with the necessary re-enforcements to prevent a fire. It was also revealed that this necessary equipment would have only cost £4000. A lot of the victims did not receive the correct treatment after and a lot r still left without a Home for a tragedy which the government caused.

Dave won the Ivor Novello award for best contemporary song for Black (his 2nd, the album snagged Brit Award British album of the year, Mercury Prize best album and an AIM Award, at only 22 yrs old - way to make us all feel unaccomplished Santan Dave!) The judges described “Black” as “important, eloquent and a song that not only empowers, but is borderless in its musicality” so artists and activists like Dave are shifting mindsets even within the establishment. For the cancel culture snowflakes ( to use their own terms against them) who spat their dummies (pacifiers) out and complained, well that's freedom of speech I suppose, but as Dave says in the extra verse 'if you don't want to get it, then you're never going to get it' so let's not give them the energy

This actually happened before the recent BLM stuff but so poignant whenever its said. No the reason you hadn't heard it before is because you're in America, most Americans are happy with what they've got and don't seek out art from further afield(obviously you guys don't fall into that category) but in the UK this was a BIG deal being live at the Brits which is our biggest music Award show like our version of the Grammys.

Yay, you watched it! The UK has had enough. Akala, Dave, Wretch 32, Mic Righteous, etc are not happy.

@@AsiaandBJ. I noticed but it doesn’t matter you’ve gotta do whatever you might need to do. Thank you for reacting and working hard to stop the block. Much appreciated and very interesting to see what was blocked and what was allowed. Also thanks to KZbin’s actions my interest in this was renewed. I’m sure that’s the opposite of the expected outcome 😁

@@haseo700. Are you referring to Marcus Rashford? That (saint) football player has done more for the people of this country than the flipping prime minister!!
