Those soldiers you saw on guard are from the Queen's Gurkha engineer's, They were given the honour of providing the Queen's Guard this Spring, It's a rare sight they haven't undertaken the Guard since 2015 when the were celebrating 200 years of service to the Crown, They are from Nepal Asia, We are very proud in the UK of our Gurkhas.

One point of etiquette in the uk, when eating the fork goes the other way up so the tines are facing down. We also tend to keep hold of the knife in the right hand. When we are done eating we put the fork and knife next to each other on the plate. If we need to leave the table during the meal then the knife and fork are separate on the plate.

Digestives are quite an old McVities product, first manufactured by them in 1892. The chocolate ones appeared in 1925. They were originally given that name because they were meant to act as an aid to digestion. They're very moreish. I remember having some dark chocolate ones with coffee at university. Before I knew it I'd eaten the whole packet! I had to book myself in for "Digestive Rehab" the next day! 😀 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digestive_biscuit

@4:07 Yeah the Mars bar is a UK honeymoon tradition. There s no hard and fast rule who gets to be the postman and who is the letter box but it's best to take the wrapper off first. Don't worry about the sheets they'll change them in the morning - it's all included in the price. In Scotland it comes deep-fried so it's already gooey. It's bloody cold up there so you don't want to be hanging about trying to melt it yourself. Mars chaff has ruined many a honeymoon.

The jury is still out on that one.

Biscuits are so called because they are baked twice as one would understand if you spoke French. This makes them crisp and brittle, not so of Cookies. Digestives when originally conceived were thought to assist with ones digestion system to round off a high tea. This would have been thought an attractive asset in Victorian times but these days things to assist with digestion are more like medicines for if things have gone bad. This now is perceived as an unattractive sales point to younger and foreign people.

Be careful of the bicycle cabs they have been known to charge huge sums of money for even short rides ( £150. for a £10 ride etc ) especially to tourists who can be intimidated by there bully tactics at the end of the ride . If you use them ask and AGREE an amount for the ride before you even get in to the thing and also if you feel bullied or intimidated hold your ground and if the police become involved know that they DO NOT take the side of the bicycle cabs it is a civil matter ..so the bike guys can sue you in Texas if they wish (which of course they won't lol ) Even I with my family was harassed by these leeches ..and I am a local but as an ex Royal Marine I was not worried by these con artists one bit . Just be safe and apply common sense .

Jaffa Cakes are cakes by court ruling. Because there is a different sales tax rate for cakes than biscuits (cookies) it was important that a legally binding decision was made about whether a Jaffa Cake was a "cake" or a "biscuit". The legal decision was that a "cake" goes hard when it becomes stale and a "biscuit" goes soft, so Jaffa Cake was legally a cake and therefore was liable to the lower rate of tax.

@@danielleporter1829 my response was to the question why are they called cakes not cookies - not that a British firm would use the term "cookies" unless they were trying to pretend that they were 'Murican for some reason.
