@@Trippingthroughadventures - No, no no! Parsons are only a smidge above Greggs in terms of quality so still super poor. You'd be wise to aim for a boutique-style bakery, ideally one that specializes in sausage rolls and ideally one that has won awards such as The Great Sausage Roll Off Awards. Even though the quality you would then achieve there is at the completely opposite end of the spectrum to the likes of Parsons and Greggs, they would still be commercialised products that cut corners to maximise profits and thus, come nowhere near a specialist non-commercialised sausage roll. Imagine the two minutes it takes to roll a bunch of MSM (mechanically separated meat) and meat waste/trimmings into factory-produced pre-rolled puff-pastry to make a sausage roll consisting of 15% meat and then imagine a succulent mix of Segovia suckling pig cheek cotechino sausage encased in expertly-made decadent croissant dough, encrusted with moreish pork crackling and San Marzano tomato sauce powder, served with a Tellicherry peppercorn sauce laced with a cinnamon'esq basil such as aromatto. They are worlds apart and that is just one suggestion out of thousands.

So I can’t speak on British fascination, but our fascination is that it’s normal day to day thing for most Brit’s, same with pret and costa, we don’t need something to be the best to be interesting, it holds its own interest because it’s such a part of normal everyday culture for a lot of people. I would considered something like root beer could be offensive cuz it is a very strong unique flavor to wrap your head around if you have never had it lol. @@Trippingthroughadventures Greggs is fine guys. Yes there are better places but it’s not bad. I don’t eat sausage rolls as a rule, but I would have a Greggs vegan sausage roll any day of the week. When they’re fresh they’re so nice. Greggs ain’t fancy but I’ve had worse and paid more 😵💫

sausage biscuit?
@Trippingthroughadventures7 ай бұрын
lol so we didn’t expect for this to reach such a wide British audience, so we didn’t know to put an example pic but in America a biscuit is not a cookie it’s closer to a scone type thing made from flower, water, buttermilk. They are very popular in the south lol. So it’s not two chocolate chip biscuits with sausage lol. Its flavor profile is pretty consistent to the sausage roll. Although the biscuit texture more similar to a scone.

Then go to a proper English bakery and actually try a good sausage roll. Gregg's are literally the worst and are like comparing a White Castle slider to a homemade burger straight from the grill.

I don't know which fools are recommending Greggs sausage rolls as it's common knowledge they are objectively close to the worst sausage rolls available in the entire country. Anyone with any sense would recommend you find an independent bakery, ideally one that is known for its sausage rolls.

@@Trippingthroughadventures - it's actually a class (intellect) thing. The lower classes (typically most prevalent anywhere north or east of Cambridge) tend not to have the intellect, intuition or multitude of other attributes in order to want to better themselves through self-education, etc. Consequently, that resulting simpleness of mind is very limiting in terms of its scope of perception, hence them being content that anything from Greggs is worthy of recommendation. Bizarrely, even when subjected to far superior alternatives such as a proper sausage roll, they will usually still prefer the 'lower-quality' Gregg's version as it is more in line with their 'lower-quality' mind. I'm aware that may sound harsh to anyone out there non-elightened to these things but we are talking objective facts here, not subjective feelings.

Greggs is OK, but it's become too much of a fast-food chain. You'd be better off looking for traditional, family-owned bakeries.

Greggs is overrated, greasy, factory produced rubbish. When people talk of UK food being rubbish they will be thinking of Greggs. If you want pies, sausage rolls etc., find a local baker or butcher. Their worst will be 10 x better than Greggs.
