if u come to north sulawesi, precisely in Manado u will be served a traditional alcoholic drink they called rat stamp ( Cap Tikus ) with an alcohol content of 40%, 65%, 75% and some even 80%. it is very different from the traditional drinks that are in java. because here it is pure from palm sap which is distilled periodically to produce pure alcohol without a mixture of methanol as is commonly found in Java, which is called oplosan drink.

If you are still in Yogyakarta Area, there's a local alcohol call "Salak Pondoh or Pondoh". Relatively new comer compare to Ciu or Arak. It's made from snake skin fruit or local call it Salak fruit. If you can get one to try it will be great...

Wow finally you have come to Bekonang village. Soon you can go to Gresik and Tuban in east Java near Surabaya, to find Legen, Tuak and even Arak. Legen and Tuak is made from Siwalan or Lontar.

Y'all should try traditional alcohol from Manado called CapTikus. That's the famous one and the hardest. Its about over 40% of alcohol. But if ure in Java u'll get the legal version, u can only get the traditional version if ure in Manado. Peace out!

I never heard people died coz of ciu.... Maybe other liquor that they mix with supplement /something strange.,. Ciu is pure local tradition recipe and no dangerous... But sorry to heard about that..
