I'd say even more so if you don't know the song but know Billie Holiday. I had never heard it and was attempting to do so when I discovered Angelina's cover. After the initial shock subsided and I'd shown it anyone who would listen, I was evidently so subconsciously sure I now knew how the Billie Holiday version sounded that I forgot to listen to it until the following day.

Beautiful reaction, thank you Lauren. This was the first time I heard this little fairy sing, 10 years ago and I've been hooked ever since. In all these years by now I have listened to she thousands of times in hundreds of splendid interpretations and yet every time I see this first performance of hers at the age of 7, it makes me move again, like the first time, with that wonderful concentration of humility, simplicity, candor, intelligence, sympathy and talent. I love her wonderful sense of jazz musicianship from her very first performances. 💛🧡❤

Lauren, thanks for your reaction. Today is the 10th anniversary of Angelina winning Norway's Got Talent. This audition was about 5 or 6 months earlier, before she turned 8 years old. No denying, Angelina understands the importance of storytelling. The musicians who worked with her, in her later performances of this competition, lovingly called her 'the boss', as she knew how she wanted to sing each song.

From: keitholson40 Here is the quote from Angelina (7y) from an interview with TV2 after her Auditions NTG 2014. "The reason I chose this song is completely random. I love jazz, but" Gloomy Sunday "was random. It was a night I could not sleep and my mother was stressed that I was awake long after midnight. Then I borrowed my mom's iPad where I wanted to listen to jazz on KZbin before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and with her eyes closed. I heard the song "Gloomy Sunday" that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for mom, she said that this song is nice, but that it was incredibly sad song. "

Nice reaction. What you said about Angelina, the restraint, hit the nail on the head. Most child singers that you see on these types of shows try to sing as loud and as high as they can to impress the judges but other than that, lots of times there isn’t a lot of substance there. Here you can see from the very beginning Angelina is about the tone, texture, details, nuances and storytelling that most other kids her age don’t have a clue about. As you continue following Angelina you will see that she can belt but it’s only when she feels it’s needed for the song, never just to show off. She has so many tools in her arsenal and uses what’s necessary to tell the story.

Wonderful reaction Lauren....she is very shy and reserved young lady. Her brain works on a different level than most human beings. She is a remarkable young woman now days at 18 years old and still as sweet, humble, caring, kind and classy as she was as a child. I would highly suggest you listen to Billy Holiday's version to get a better understanding of what this 7 year old just did here. BTW, the next 3 songs in this competition are quite remarkable to see the changes in her vocals over a few months, and teeth started growing in.😁😁 Thanks. Stay well. 🥰🥰

I have listened to a lot of Angelina's songs! Many try to catharize what kind of music she is best at singing. For me, this does not matter at all. Some of the music she performs brings old memories to life. This of course affects how I personally appreciate that particular song. But Angelina's whole personality always affects, in a positive way, what she does. Whatever it is! Singing, composes, arranges, etc.
@peterjohansson5877 ай бұрын
THANK YOU SO MUCH for playing this! Angelina puts the song/music and lyrics first. To convey the message of the text and music to the listener. That's what a real artist does! Angelina is a master at this. Then, of course, she has a huge toolbox with various voice tricks to pick out if she wants! Angelina doesn't focus on showing off with spectacular high or long notes etc! Unless it is required to convey a feeling to the listener. She doesn't belong to the type of singer who "look at me singing"

This is the song that began all the talk about Billie Holiday being reincarnated in this 7 year old girl. You listen to Billie's original, when she was 29, and it sounds as if the same singer is performing both renditions. Whenever she wants to do it, Angelina has this 'vocal chameleon' ability to emulate 'precisely' A -List singers. Quite soon after the NGT Talent Show, which she won, her rendition of Dinah Washington's 'What A Difference A Day Makes', is just as outstanding as this one was, for she captures Dinah's vocal sound so exquisitely.

This is Angelina Jordan the most extraordinary storyteller in my lifetime. Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize Dec. 2023 Unchained Melody (AJ, at the age of 17 performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony December 2023 in Oslo, Norway) I watched as Angelina Jordan stepped onto the stage, her presence commanding attention. The room hushed, anticipation hanging in the air like a delicate thread. She stood there, a young girl with an old soul, ready to weave magic with her voice. As the first notes of "Unchained Melody" filled the room, time seemed to slow. Angelina's voice wrapped around each word, infusing them with a depth that transcended mere lyrics. It was as though the song had been written for her, and her alone. The audience held its breath as she sang. Her voice soared, reaching heights that touched the heavens. The pain and longing in her eyes mirrored the emotions in the song-the heartache, the yearning. It was more than a performance; it was a revelation. The chorus came, and Angelina's voice swelled, filling every corner of the room. " Oh, my love, my darling I've hungered, hungered for your touch," she sang, and suddenly, we all felt the real meaning of the words. The magic in her performance was like nothing we had ever experienced in our lives. The lyrics came alive and had meaning as they flowed through us. In that moment, Angelina Jordan became a vessel for something greater-an embodiment of love itself. Her voice carried us beyond our own pain and loneliness. We felt connected-to her, to each other, to something intangible yet profound. As she held that final note, time snapped back into place. The applause erupted-a thunderous acknowledgment of what we had just witnessed. But it wasn't just applause; it was gratitude-for allowing us to glimpse love and longing through Angelina's eyes. And so, we stood there, hearts full, tears in our eyes. Angelina Jordan had given us something rare-a reminder that love exists even in our brokenness. And for those few minutes, we believed it with every fiber of our being. (CopyRight)

I really appreciate your knowledge and commentary on this performance. To quickly work your way to the present, Angelina has been working with Toby Gad, a world-renowned composer and producer. She will release a new single on the 31st but it has already been pre-released. She is singing Beyoncé's If I Were a Boy, which Toby wrote. There is a video of her performing it on the 16th of this month in a hotel lounge. There is also a much larger performance to over 2,000 people at the London palladium on the 20th. Both of these performances are with Toby at piano. They're working on a larger project of new songs coming later in the year. Reaction to either of these performances would be wonderful. Peace out.

The anticipation for its release is high, especially after their recent performance at the Hotel Cafe. While the exact release date has not been officially announced, fans eagerly await the new material, which promises to showcase Jordan's unique vocal talents alongside Gad's renowned songwriting skills. Their previous work together, coupled with Jordan's powerful rendition of "If I Were a Boy," suggests that "Bad Valentine" will be another significant addition to her growing repertoire. It's a very true comment how talent shows will manipulate the video and rearrange parts of it to better convey what they want to show. The only other Norway's Got Talent audition I've seen was for a rapper, Patrick Jørgensen, that got the Golden Buzzer. In the middle of his performance, the backstage host gives a tearful reaction for a couple of seconds but if you look closely in the background, the judge's panel already shows the gold X for his Golden Buzzer, so they clearly shot the reaction afterward and edited it into the performance. It's at 3:11 in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/omLOZHqriNGepLs . It's a very moving performance (be prepared to cry) if you're looking for forgotten gems to react to, though it's not at the level of Angelina Jordan.

Your comment was very accurate. Even at this age, Angelina respects the song and the music. She’s not there to show us how much she can do with her voice-she’s there to do justice to the song. As she gets older, we see an incredible vocal toolkit through her various performances, but she’s always giving the song what it needs, and no more. For a glimpse of how deep that vocal toolkit is, watch her cover of Adele’s Easy on Me. It’s a live performance in the studio, respecting Adele, but giving us something really beautiful that may well be your favorite version of this song. The last judge: Do you know what the song is about? Angelina, being just a 7-year old child translated to the best of her abilities: It's about a sad Sunday... Only a few years later Angelina would comprehend the problem when her by-that-time good friend Avichi checked out with extreme prejudice (depression-induced suicide). Angelina is raised in a big, loving family, in a big loving society! Hard as this may be for a child, her solid and loving upbringing is likely to have carried her safely through this, one of the unexpected upheavals of growing up. Angelina seems to have her head screwed on properly....

Nice reaction. You're going to have a great time on this journey of discovery. Angelina is very special! Btw, you must not wear glasses. The judge had enough time to move his glasses from mouth to face many times in that interval. I'm not saying edits didn't happen, but the glasses are not an effective indicator. Looking forward to your next reaction.

I do wear glasses actually. And while, yes, there was technically time to do that whole move, it just doesn't make a lot of sense. But maybe that's because I can't see more than two inches in front of my face without my glasses, so the idea of taking them off to put the earhook bit in my mouth for four seconds seems weird.
