Haha, great! Now I can keep following. 😆 Fun fact: Niklas originally wrote this song for the group Triad, in which he was a member. They were looking for a follow up to their smash Christmas hit "Tänd ett ljus". But the other group members didn't like this song, and the group soon split up because they had different opinions on what kind of music to play. Niklas went solo and recorded this song himself, and the rest is history. This was his first solo hit and it has been followed by many more!

I'm not a big fan of Strömstedt or pop music at all, but I've got to admire him for his qualities at song writing and this is one of his master piesces. This song is like for Strömstedt as 'Under ytan' is for Uno Svenningsson. Great reaction!

Soo much the typical Swedish summer romance, fueled by the vitamin D cycle. 🙂 One song you might want to listen to is Hootenanny Singers - Omkring tiggarn från Luossa. A beautiful Dan Andersson poem turned into a beautiful song.

Niklas Strömstedt - Förlorad Igen, it's in the same spirit as this song. I hope you will consider it cause it is a Swedish classic. Niklas once said that the thing that he regretted was that he didn't do that much optimistic music. But the melancholy he produces has no match and is of great value to me and, I suspect, many people in Sweden.

Agree. I discovered and re-discovered Niklas music during a time when my father was very ill and later passed away. The song "Sånt är livet" still means a lot to me from that time because it expressed my grief and also gave hope.

Great pick with this one! I really like your reaction videos! Let me give you a tip for a song. I know you did not like Ulf Lundell... BUT, you should test this one!!! Niklas Strömstedt was Ulf Lundells pianist for a long time in the late 70's and the 80's. But i think you should do a uptempo song by him. And from the live album. The song is - Hon gör mig galen. And the album is Maria kom tillbaka-Live 93. Its a real swedish classic! I promise! But if you want to hear Niklas Strömstedts piano playing. Then i suggest you listen to Ulf Lundells Stackars Jack. From like -77 or something. Niklas was really killin it as Lundells pianist. Or -82 När jag kysser Havet... It stands out. If you liked this i mean. Thanks for all the reaction videos and i will defenitly start listening to your swedish history podcast!

Love your stuff man! You are totally right skipping anything from "Så Mycket Bättre", as the original songs quality are always the reason they are re-interpreted in the show to begin with, and any interpretation will get old fast (I wish radio djs would realize this anytime, so that I can listen to that original Uggla song instead of Darin or whatever xD). I'd love to hear your take on Olle Almgrens classic song; Omåomigen.
@DaP842 жыл бұрын
Uggla gjorde dock "Jag och Min Far" betydligt bättre enligt mig, gjorde den till en klassiker. Och Love Antells take på "Från Djursholm till Danvikstull" är riktigt bra. Det finns några guldkorn här och där

Nice, I've been waiting for Sylvia (the second letter is 'y') Vrethammar. She was really big when I grow up in the 60s and 70s. This song was a bit controversial back then. In Sweden going to the south of Europe had just become a big thing, but as Spain was a dictatorship at the time a lot of people though going there for the holiday could bee seen as a kind of support for the diktator. I was to young to understand anything about this tough, and just loved the song.

Eviva Espania came when charter flights ✈️ boomed in the early 70's, and it became affordable for the middle class, and even lower income households to go on a vacation trip to Spain, Greece or Italy. My mum went to Mallorca with her best friend for a week when she took a job after being a stay-at-home mum for years. It left me, abt 10yo at the time, having to endure my fathers horrible cooking for a whole week!😂
@katam64712 жыл бұрын
@@elainekarlsson8384 My parents both went to Mallorca and left me and my baby sister, who was about 2 yo, with my grandparents for a week. Grandmas cooking skills fortunately was excellent and we had a great time. But when my parents came back, my sister wouldn't even look att mum for the first day. Poor mum! The next day however, everything was forgotten and mother was taken into grace again.

@@katam6471 I remember mum being all giddy when she was back, and she told me stories about all the things she had seen. She didn't have a good camera, so she had bought a bunch of postcards to show us instead. The one postcard that really set my imagination off the most was from a limestone cave full of stalactites. The only way to enter it was by boat, and it looked gorgeous. I think I still have that postcard somewhere among my other stuff 😊

Second video idea: Thomas Stenström - ”Ser du månen där du är ikväll”. It is about cancer i think. (Watch the music video, and you will understand!) for me this song is very emotional. And also in my opinion the best Swedish song made in 2021. It’s well played at many funerals here in Sweden right now. This song has blown up everywhere. Thank you! @JonathanRollinssthlm3052 жыл бұрын
I don't have a rule that I don't do covers. I do "classics" and I have done covers on here. I don't do "Så Mycket Bättre" interpretations since I won't have that connection to the original (which is probably already a "classic" in its own right). I hope that clarifies it.

Feel like you're starting to appreciate melancholy now. Nicklas has beautiful but fairly simple lyrics, I think that's why you appreciate Nicklas but not someone like Lars Winnerbäck's lyrics are extremely poetic, but it probably requires you to go deeper into the language to grasp it.
