Yes sir I know the guy who designed the AL series Ameritrons. Tom is his name. I have 2 al80bs, this al-1200, and an al-1500 this one is by far the toughest. It just takes more drive to get it up there.

300 watts of drive? I thought the tube was rated for 130 watts maximum....please tell me I am wrong!

Maybe to hit legal limit but they can take much more 300 watts is definitely safe some drive with 4 or 500 in.

Yes but who wants to cut audio down to decrease watts. That's why I make the independent controls to keep the voice fully modulated at the best level then individually control average and peak. Or can set those parameters internally with no external controls.

@@DRail1990 still have modded d 104 I just swapped out and use my 636 because I love the talkback on my 497 I can run the mic gain all the way up with that mic though and it stills sound good

@brandoncrimes3608 636 is a good mic but talkback is not real sound over the air it's just sampled off the speaker. Not demodulated through another receiver like others truly hear it. The d104 can't run with talkback correctly bc it's a power mic they are all sensitive to feedback. So when using the d104 best to cut talkback off so you can run the gain higher.
