Comparison is incomplete in other sense as well. For example, there are some offers and benefits on Amex Gold Charge and Plat Charge that are offered Amex Experiences, which are not available for other Amex Credit Cards. Also, MRCC is free if you have Gold. Plus, if you spend around 1.5L per annum then splitting 72k per card makes more sense than doing it all on MRCC (if you only have one card). Another scenario is, if you want to buy an high value product which is available on gyftr then gold is more beneficial there. For instance, apple recently tied up with Amex (after dropping hdfc), buying a 50k-1L apple product through rewards multiplier will not only give you normal discount for using amex card but will give you multifold points in case of gold as compared to MRCC. And one downside of gold is gold is charge card, so you have to pay everything in the same month, unlike MRCC. Ideally everything should be paid for every CC but its a fact about Gold card that shouldn’t be ignored.

Good part about HDFC infinia is the 3.33% reward rate. With amex Platinum Charge card, if your spends are primarily on their 'rewards multiplier' partners like flipkart, Myntra, tata cliq, or gyftr (5x), it gives great value since it's 5x points. Finally what's also important while considering amex plat charge are the joining/ renewal benefits.

If you discontinue the card, and then get it back again - it should count for a new card and hence 2nd year fee shouldn’t apply. However suggest to just check Amex and double check if there’s a time window between the two cards

I have LTF Infinia too. However, returns on these are better. So you can choose to spend first on these cards and max out the points and then spend on Infinia, through the year.

@@anmolarora11 Hello Anmol, in my case I have INFINIA Metal paid, so 10L spends on that is a struggle. All the other cards I have is LTF including SBI Cashback. I have MRCC since 2020, and was not paying ay fees as I was always crossing the 1.5L annual spends mark. This year I will be able to corss the 10L for Infinia and 1.5L for MRCC, so would keep this for a year utilize the points and plan to close the next year and only INFINIA METAL becomes my primary card to avoid the annual fees. What are your suggestions around this? Thank You :)

@@Bhatiji Ok, so you won't be able to spend 1.5L next year ? Maybe close by the end of next year and before checking ask them for a waiver ? Also, as per this chart, if you spend 72k, you should be able to get good net returns.

@@anmolarora11 Hello Anmol, Thank you for your response. There are 2 things to this, My MRCC is of 5k annual fees, I think if I get it via referral, the annual fees is lower. But in my personal case not sure if paying the INFINIA fees is ok or to max out of 10L. I think I did a mistake by moving away from DCB LTF to Infinia Paid.

Thanks for your kind comments 1) there are two types of charge cards. Platinum charge and gold charge. 2) Annual income of 6L+ 3) Bunch of different programs but one of the more valuable is Marriott bonvoy

You can explore getting gold charge card + Amex plat travel for the first year. Second year onwards maybe explore replacing gold with mrcc. It also depends on whether the merchants you spend on accept Amex cards or not

I think the MRCC returns on year 2 go even further up if you account for the full fee waiver on spending Rs. 1.5 lakhs. I think the appropriate comparison for this video would have been the Smart Earn v. MRCC, especially where Smart Earn gives you 5x and 10x back on Amazon and Zomato.

However, here's how I would approach this. Assuming tickets to Europe = 1Lac. To get them from points, even if we assume an aggressive 10% returns on spends, you need to spend 10L. If you're organically spending that amount - you should try optimise for cards. If not, please don't overspend just to claim the tickets :)

Is there anyway to use the card for electricity and maintenance charges? I currently do a bank transfer... The society's condominium doesn't provide credit card as an option right now...
