Tony Parker was not a plus defender either. But the other four guys on the floor were good to great defenders and within Popovich´s system they made it work. Right now only plus defenders in Spurs starting 5 are Wemby and Sochan. They would need to get two 3&D wings/forwards (I assume that Devin Vassell may have to be part of the trade)

French twin towers in SA and a little PG like Trae would be epic but they're pretty much running that kinda experiment in Milwaukee RN because they got Lillard and also have two mere 7 footers in Giannis and B.Lopez. Obviously Lillard will be targeted as their weakest link on D come playoffs and so would Young be. Great 3&D's are hard to find and Bucks gave up more than they won in the 3-way trade. Despite the hassles, starting Sochan on point was much about coming to terms with small ball. As we've seen it's run its course in GSW. Running a big guy on point might just be the future of the league. Trae should be in the conversation from next year but no hasty decisions. I idealize a PG such as Scoot, someone who's really young and been humbled already, who's a + on D and built like a train with a high ape index and that plays guard like a small forward.

The aren't two winning players in bad front office situations, because building a team around Trae Young is a fundamentally bad decision to begin with. Trae Young plays losing basketball, and should have NEVER been a first option on any franchise seriously trying to build winning team. Dame's career worst playoff performance, is statistically similar to Trae's career best playoff performance. Because Dame is better then Trae, at literally fucking everything. Shooting, efficiency, ball control, athletics, defense. The only thing you can even try to argue is that Trae is a better passer, until you look at the turnover rate and realize Trae's assist to turnover ratio is fucking garbage. First of all, Murray is a bad logistical fit, and wasn’t a position of need for Atlanta. Considering the price they paid for him, they probably could have gotten a top quality player at any position. Then, having to trade Kevin Huerter made it worse. Second, Murray is filled with underlying anger, an anger that simultaneously fuels his success on the court, and makes him toxic off the court, in the locker room, and during volatile in-game moments. Pairing him with Trae, a highly entitled ego, is a recipe for disaster. What Trae needs is a talented player with a personality that can temper Trae, to keep him in check.

For everyone saying this is not how the Spurs work. Tony Parker was a below average on ball defender for his entire career. He was always the player opposing teams looked to abuse in pick and roll and post up. But it didn't matter because they were strong everywhere else on defense. Trae Young is top player in usage rate and is in the top 5 for points and assists. He doesn't need to impress a front office or coach to try to get a contract. He is confident in himself as a player. Most of the current Spurs' roster are young guys trying to put up stats to get that bag. That is why Wemby doesn't get the ball when he needs it. Young would be able to competently run the offense and provide deadly shooting and playmaking.

I have always been a hawks fans, but trying to build around Trae isn’t going to work. Trading Trae now or the offseason could possibly land you a lot of first round picks or a super star forward. He could ask to leave in a year or two. Trae pros- great facilitator Cons- small defender *team will always will be bad or mediocre on defense ---------- Next years line up Trae Kobe Onyeka Jalen *mediocre or all star caliber --------- Dejounte Kobe Onyeka Jalen *All Star or super star * in my opinion a this is a better team

He is the least efficient player to start more than 4 games this year for Atlanta this year. He is consistently one of the highest volume shooters in the league, and he consistently has one of the lowest shooting percentages on his own damn team. That's bad. You can't say he needs help, when everyone around him is shooting better percentage. You mentioned his assists, he is also leading the NBA in turnovers, with a trash ass turnover to assist ratio. Trae Young plays losing basketball, and he will NEVER win a championship as a first option.

Yes, the front office is more to blame but we all KNOW what he means. It is never their fault. They will keep a terrible GM far longer than a coach or a player and will make sure the GM goes under the radar year after year until it's a completely different team and can blame everyone else again. They can rinse and repeat the cycle again constantly avoiding the real problem.

So long as he never comes to Miami - Trae Young reminds me too much of Johnny Manziel, buying into his own hype but never following through.
