Great vid! for me my Amiga 4000 gave me the most issues with caps leaking and it took me a while to find a trusted technician to fix the damage. My advice is to always inspect your MB’s, accelerators and also PSU’s and if all cap pads look nice and shiny it’s safe to use your Amiga but honestly I strongly recommend that all the capacitors be changed for peace of mind.

First of all thank you 😊 Second, Amiga 600 has given me a lot of headache but buying a non serviced Amiga 4000 today is risky, they are SO brittle, every chip needs resoldering, leaky caps at audio and don’t get me started on battery area😊

Cool! I didn't know that you could skip four caps - and still have a picture. Does this work for an A600 also? Can I skip the same four caps there?

You're all good mate. That FB group is a toxic place. The admin runs it to source his business proposition. . I've had run ins with him before.

Dude I’ve been warned about that guy for years and years, oh yeah he runs hardcore Amiga business promoting his great income every month, Amiga is money money and money for him. I never said anything bad to him or about him, but now he just insults me like crazy. Makes zero sense. Now he is personally attacking me about being a bad KZbinr with lesser Amiga knowledge than him. I’m fine thank you 😊

@@RETROCENGO Yep. I got on the bandwagon about just use the Amiga the way it is.. If it's sealed then thats a pure bonus. One has got themselves a virgin. Well, forget about the caps, he must have talked to others that pounced on me within seconds. "You need to recap" blah blah blah.. I said, "you're changing 50 caps but what about the other 2000 components".. Well. didn't that bring a tsunami of BS. My old man is an Air Force radar tech. He just laughs at the Amiga cap thing. It's a money spinner and that admin is monopolising on it.

@@ChuckyGang The other "components" have an age life. Who cares what leaks. The rest of the Amiga just looks at the leakage and wonders when it's time is up. . The cap thing is an Amiga myth.

@@ChuckyGang I agree that recapping is important, but if this is regarding his post on that FB group I'm a bit wary of buying any recapped Amiga where I do not know who has recapped it. I've seen some absolute massacres out there, indeed there is a popular KZbinr out there who advocates the "twist n pull" method of removing the caps. God help anyone who follows that advice... At least if it' s basically working but uncpped I know I can do it myself with some degree of care, sympathy and decent quality caps.
